The next morning, when Scarlett arrived at the Zhou residence, she handed a beautifully wrapped box to Mr. Chan, saying, "Mr. Chan, Mr. Zhou helped me out a few days ago, so I brought him a cake."
Chan looked a bit troubled, "Mr. Zhou is out of town on business. He left last night and might not be back for a few days."
Scarlett smiled, "I see. Then I'll take it up to Jack."
Chan nodded with a smile.
Jack was a man of his word. As soon as he heard Scarlett's footsteps, he sat up in bed, leaning against the headboard as if he was trying to gather his wits.
Scarlett placed the cake on the table and announced, "Time to get up for breakfast."
Jack cracked open an eye, saw the cake box, and muttered, "I don't even like cake. You're trying to bribe my uncle, aren't you?"
Without turning her head, Scarlett, who was opening the curtains, responded, "You're absolutely right. I originally bought it for your uncle, but just found out he's not home."
