Chapter 136 - Wedding Banquet (Part 5)

After we finished dinner, it was time for the two of us to have our first dance with the rest of the nobles watching.

I offered my hand to Becca, "ready?"

Becca put her hand in mine and smiled, "yeah, let's make it a first dance to remember."

As we reached the center of the hall, the soft romantic music that I picked started to play. I faced Becca, put my right hand on her waist, while my left hand held hers.

We started off slow as we got used to each others movements. I had gotten pretty good at dancing since my training with James, so I soon picked up the rhythm.

Becca was an even better dancer than me from all her years of training to be a good noble woman. It made me sad to think about how many times she had to dance with the original Nicolas when they were engaged and how much she would have hated it.

One this day, with our very first dance, I wanted to overwrite all her negative experiences. As I started to pick up the pace, I started to spin her around and do some of the special moves I had learned.

The entire time, I focused on Becca's beautiful smiling face. She was beaming at me with upturned eyes.

Soon, the music started to slow done as the song was nearing its end. At this moment, I too slowed down our dance and pulled her body close to mine as I looked into her sparkling eyes.

It suddenly felt like we were in a world of our own…like the rest of the nobles didn't exist. In this world, only me and the person I love were the focus…

As I locked eyes with Becca, a surge of emotions hit me. This person was so special to me…I wanted to give her a kiss to express my love so badly!

Sadly, I still had enough reason to not do something that she wasn't ready for. As I hesitated and the song ended with my face staring at Becca's, the most unexpected thing happened…

She leaned forward placed a kiss of my lips. It only lasted for a second, but I was completely stunned. I asked with expectant eyes, "…Becca?"

——————-

Becca's POV slightly earlier:

When Nick started dancing with me, I could tell he was a beginner. He slowly tried to test my pace and all his moves were methodical like they were practiced.

However, once he started to pick up the pace and spun me for the first time, it took my breath away. He looked so handsome with his deep sincere eyes and warm smile.

His natural dancing skills and rhythm I had seen before when he sang and danced for me started to show. It made me emotional that this kind man would work so hard and learn how to ballroom dance just for me.

I never liked ballroom dancing much. It was more of a chore that I had to get over with before I could return to a corner in the room and stay to myself. But I guess that is the difference with dancing with someone I have feelings for for the first time.

The music started to die down and Nick pulled me in closer. He look at me longingly and I couldn't hold myself back any longer.

I had been feeling this way since the morning when he comforted me because I was feeling nervous about hosting today. I realized I didn't need any more time to decide if I wanted to be with Nick for the rest of my life.

I would be dumb to not lock up such a great person who cares about me so deeply as soon as I could. And after our romantic dance, that feeling from this morning overflowed so much that I did something entirely unlike me.

In front of every noble in the Duchy, I leaned in and had my first kiss ever with Nick. It was only for a second, but my entire body felt warm and fuzzy. Nick, on the other hand, was understandably shocked and instead of responding to his confusion in front of all these nobles, I did something spontaneous again. I pulled his hand and run out of the ballroom with him.

We ran for a few minutes until I knew we would not be found by anyone. We ended up at a gazebo overlooking the mansions garden. We were both out of breath from the excitement.

I could tell that Nick was going to ask me again what was going on. Before he could get a word out, I shouted, "I love you Nick! I can't hold it back anymore! You care about me, you support me, you understand me. I want to live the rest of my life with you. I don't need any more time to think about it. I'm certain I'm making the right choice being and I want to lock you up right now!"

Nick started crying happy tears and whispered, "I was just thinking the same thing", before leaning in and kissing me.

This time was much more passionate then our first kiss. Nick had experience kissing, so I closed my eyes and followed his lead. I wrapped my arms around his torso as tight as I could. I felt like I wanted our bodies to be even closer than they already were. I wished we didn't have any clothes on, so I could feel his skin on my skin.

After a few minutes of us making out, Nick pulled away while licking his lips with a smirk. He was breath heavily and I already wanted to pounce on him again.

But it seems like he wanted to say something, so I waited patiently. After catching his breath, he said, "Becca, I love you too. I want to be partners with you for the rest of my life. I trust you to always have my back and help me when I'm in need.

From now on, let's be truely husband and wife. I promise to try my absolute hardest to make you as happy as possible and for you to always be my number one priority. I'll find some time when we are not busy to go have our honeymoon and enjoy ourselves."

I smiled cheekily, "that sounds great, but also promise me that you will give me lots of kisses in the future."

Nick chuckled, "of course my love, I will be showering you with kisses on a daily basis."

We kissed each other lightly between laughs of pure joy, completely forgetting about the room for of nobles waiting for us to return.
