Chapter 42 - Linda’s Secret Talent (Part 1)

We walked into the library and noticed that someone was sitting near the middle of the room, scribbling in a notebook.

As we got closer, I recognized that is was the same young dark brown haired maid that was here the other day when Becca stormed off, Linda. I guess her job is to be the librarian.

I walked up to her to ask for help getting the books that we needed.

"Hello Linda, can you help me and Becca find a few books that we are looking for?"

Linda was so engrossed in whatever she was writing on her notebook that she got startled and jumped when I called out to her.

"My Lord?!! Yes, of course I can help you. What kind of books are you looking for?"

Waved my hand to Becca, "Becca is looking for a few things, so you two can go look for them and I'll wait for you guys to finish here."

"Ok my Lord, I will help my Lady to the best of my abilities."

They walked off towards the bookshelves in the back while I sat down at the desk Linda was at before. Linda had her hair in a long braided ponytail. She actually reminded me of a cousin I had back in my world who I would play with at family parties.

As I was waiting for the two to return, I noticed that the notebook Linda was using when we entered was on the floor, faced down and opened.

It must've fell there when Linda got startled and jumped. I reached over and picked it up. I placed it back on the desk face up, but still opened. That's how she originally had it, so I wanted to leave it undisturbed.

As I put the notebook down, I realized that the thing Linda was working on with so much focus was a sketch of a dress.

Normally, that wouldn't be the most surprising thing in the work, but to my shock, the dress that she sketched was a thin and comfortable sun dress just like back in my world!

'Huh?! I thought this Kingdom didn't have dresses like this?! Becca always wears corsets and thick dresses that are difficult to move in.'

The dress that was currently on the page had spaghetti straps and the length went to about mid thigh.

'This is exactly the type of dress I wanted to have made for Becca! It would look so good on her if we made it yellow and white checkered. Plus, it would be a lot more casual and comfortable for when we are just hanging out in the mansion all day.

Does Linda made dresses? Or maybe she only does the design? If so, I need to buy this design off of her for whatever price she wants.'

I need to keep this a secret from Becca, so I can surprise her with the dress in the future. I took a few deep breaths to try and control my excitement.

Ten minutes later, Becca and Linda came back with a stack of books.

Becca called out to me, "we found everything that we need, so we should be good to go. I already told Linda to stay outside and stop anyone from entering like last time, but this time I explained to her that no one should be allowed to even enter the library so we can have complete privacy."

"That's good. I look forward to our studying, but I just remembered that there is one other book I wanted to grab, so I'll take Linda with me to help me find it."

Becca looked a little hesitant…did she find out my plan that quickly?

"I can put these books down and join you guys."

"No!!"

Crap, I'm horrible at keeping secrets from Becca.

"Becca, sweetie, just stay here and start getting ready for our studying. Once I get back, we can start right away, since you will have everything set up.

It will only take a few minutes, so there is no reason for you to come alone. Come on Linda, let's get going. Also here, you dropped your notebook."

Linda was flustered as she stood in place and constantly turned her head from between me and Becca.

Becca finally growled, "just go then!"

Why was Becca so mad? Even if she knew I was trying to make a dress for her, that shouldn't be something to be mad about.

Linda and I finally moved to a place out of earshot of Becca, so I started to focus on the matter at hand.

"Linda open up to the page in your notebook that you were last on."

Linda started to panicked and held her arms out as if she was ready to be hit. "I'm so sorry for being distracted on the job my Lord! I will accept the punish, but please don't fire me!"

I put my hands up to show that I was not going to punish her. "I don't care about you working in your notebook. As long as all the books are put away and no one is currently in the library, I don't see any problem with you working on your own stuff while you wait for someone to come by. The reason I brought you here is because I'm interested in the contents of your notebook."

Linda misunderstood my words and muttered,

"You like women's dresses…?"

I burst out laughing, "haha, no that's not what I meant." Her reminding me of my younger cousin made me inclined to be friendly with her.

I leaned in closer and whispered since we were still not too far away from Becca as we continued walking, "I want to get some dresses for Becca and I like the one that you sketched in your notebook."

Linda couldn't believe my words. She whispered back to me, "You really like the dress that I designed?"

I nodded swiftly, "yes! It is exactly the type of dress I was imagining! Do you also make the dress itself? Or do you just do the design? I can pay you for it."

Linda put one hand on her head.

"This is a lot to take in at once. Let's go a little farther so we are far enough away from my Lady. Then we can find a place to sit and talk."

"Sounds good to me."
