He shook his head, his hand finding its way into her soft hair. "Unfortunately, he is gone. I think someone hinted to him about the outcome of the meeting. Or maybe he was outside the door eavesdropping on the conversation, waiting for them to call him in, which never happened?"
Mia frowned; she couldn't understand why anyone would want to replace Declan from his post. He was the best in his field; there was evidence in the books he had written to help youths, the interviews he had gone to, and, most importantly, he had built D'Factor from scratch. Most of the ideas used in development were his. D'Factor had always acknowledged the owners of their ideas, and she had a feeling most were from him.
"Why do you think they suddenly turned on you? You guys have been working for years, and they have never brought up an issue of replacing the CEO. Why all of a sudden and why urgently?"
