'This is one of the best days of my life. Thank you for hanging out with me, Mia.'
She was about to respond to his message when Sheila's voice interrupted, "Hello... Hello, Mia. Are you there? Can you hear me at all?"
"I'm fine, Sheila. I just got a text message from a friend. Are you almost here?"
"I'm almost there."
Mia continued packing her things in the bag. She picked up a few high heels she had kept when she stopped modeling. It might be time for them to be useful to her again. She cleaned them all and put them in her bag, thanking her stars that she hadn't listened to Jack when he asked her to donate them.
She wanted something to remind her of who she was, and those shoes did. There was no banging on the door anymore, and Mia concluded that either Jack had set a trap for her to open the door, or he was too exhausted to continue knocking. Either way, she was glad she could pack in silence. Her mind wandered back to Declan, so she decided to reply to him.
