She pushed him away reflexively. She hadn't thought about it and had acted on instinct. He was so close to her lips that she had to either pull him closer or push him away. The only logical thing to do was to push him. Instantly, her hands flew to her mouth, "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to push you like that."
Declan smiled at her. "It's understandable. You weren't expecting me to be in your face like that. I'm sorry for getting too close to you." His smile seemed forced to Mia, but she couldn't call him out on it. The whole situation already looked awkward. He adjusted his clothes and held her hand. Mia couldn't help but observe how perfectly his hand fit into hers. His hand seemed big while hers fit perfectly in it. "So, do you forgive me?"
Forgive him? She could barely remember what they were conversing about. The image in her head was all about his lips so close to hers. "Yes, of course. I forgive you. Why wouldn't I?"
