Chapter 8 - 8- He's doing what?

The next morning I woke up with dark black circles under my eyes from my lack of sleep. I knew I had to get to the police station, but I was nervous. I didn't know what would happen once I filed charges against Jesse, but Officer Frank was right. My safety must come first. I get dressed in a pair of slim jeans and a T-shirt before tying my hair back into a high pony. I do my makeup and head toward the police station on foot. As I approach the station, my heart races, and my palms start to sweat. I take a few deep breaths to calm myself down before entering the building. I'm ready to face whatever comes my way. I step through the glass doors, heading to reception. "Yes can I help you?" asks the pretty female officer behind the desk. I take a deep breath, nervously making my way to the desk to explain my purpose.

"Yes, I have an appointment with Officer Frank this morning," I answered her. She could probably feel my nerves radiating off my skin. She nodded, confirming my appointment, and handed me a visitor's tag. She directed me to take a seat, and I waited until Officer Frank arrived. A few minutes later he stepped out of the door with a smile on his face. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I saw his friendly expression, and I knew I was in the right place.

Hello Makena, I'm so glad you made it. "Let's get started," he says leading the way through a hallway. We step up to a desk amid plenty of others in a large room. He points to a chair."Sit down here." He smiles at me before turning to his computer and typing something. I take a seat, my heart pounding in anticipation of what the day may bring.

As I hold tight to my backpack, I ask him, "Won't he get mad at me for doing this?" I apologize. He turns to me and speaks, his voice gentle. "No need to worry. I'm here to help."

"He may get mad... but trust me Makena, you're doing the right thing here," he says as he prints some paperwork. I watch as he steps up to a printer in the room and grabs some paper before making his way back to me. "Here, I need you to write me a statement describing in detail everything he's done so far."

He gives me the paper and a pen. I begin to fill it out, the nerves inside of me causing me to tremble. I filled it out in precise detail each time he held me in place. It was the texting and how he knew where I was in my own home that freaked me out the most. Once I was finished I handed him the statement which he took and immediately began to enter all of the details into his computer. "What happens now?" I asked him.

"Well now I will file the charges in the database and then I will serve him with the protective order I am also filing on your behalf. This protective order is like all the others. It states that Jesse Campbell must stay 100 feet from you at all times. If he ever disregards the order and comes within 100 feet, he can be arrested. I will be taking it to school and making sure that the school complies as well. I will also be pulling him from any classes he might have with you and so forth. It isn't okay that you are this terrified of him." He explains and after he tells me what it does, it makes me feel a bit better. After we were done, he took me to school. I had already missed first period when we arrived and he took me immediately to speak with the principal. Once the principal heard what was going on, he promised to make the changes before the next day. He suggested I just go home for the rest of the day. I do as I am told, and Officer Frank gives me a ride home to ensure that I make it home safely. He wanted to talk to my mom and tell her what was taking place so that she was aware of everything happening.

"Mom, are you home?" I ask as I step inside the house. I see her stepping out of the kitchen, immediately flustered as she saw who I was standing in the living room with.

"I'm sorry ma'am but I felt like I should explain a few things in detail to you," he says softly and tells my mom everything that had happened and that he had filed a restraining order against Jesse Campbell on my behalf. He told her that the school had been notified and the principal had promised to make all changes by the next day. I felt better as I returned to my room after he left, knowing that my mom knew what was going on with him. As I lay in my bed flipping through a magazine, I hear my phone chime and I grab it to read the message. -Hey where were you today?

- Stop texting me! I reply immediately, then sit up straight and begin to clean my room. I didn't want to talk to him whether it be by text or by phone.

- What do you mean by stop texting you? I was being polite... where were you today? His reply sounded more demanding, which made my anxiety rise as I thought of a reply.

-You don't need to know where I was! I sent the reply and hope he will stop.

- Oh, I know where you went, I am not happy with you...

Reading those words made my heart skip. I was worried that he was planning to do something that I wasn't inclined to like. I turn the phone on silent and leave it on my bed and make my way out to the living room where my mom was currently watching her daytime TV. "Hey Mom, is there anything you need from the store? I was thinking about heading to get some snacks?" I ask her.

"No sweetie, but be careful. I don't like knowing that this guy is out there even if there is a protective order now placed on you... you never know when the guy is determined to ignore the order and get close to you." she says, causing an eerie sensation to run up my spine.

"On second thought, maybe I'll just figure something out," I reply, heading into the kitchen to check the cupboards. Finding nothing, I decide to head out anyway. I was hungry, and I had filed a restraining order against him. He can't come within 100 feet of me. It made me feel in control for now. Once I was checked out with everything I wanted, I went to step out of the grocery store only to see him storming up to me. Feeling his harsh grip on my arm, I narrowed my eyes at him. "Jesse, what are you doing? Let me go!" I demanded of him as he continued to drag me with him.

Without saying a word to me he continued to drag me until we came to a stop next to an expensive-looking car which I guess was probably his. "Get out of my car!" he snaps at Tiffany clearly annoyed at finding her there.

She looked up at him in shock, then glanced at me in disgust. "What? Why are you with her?" she asked.

"It doesn't matter, now move!" he snaps at her. She lets out an annoyed huff but gets out of the seat and starts walking off glaring at me as she walks off. He proceeded to shove me inside and I quickly placed my hands on the opening trying to prevent it.

"Jesse, stop! I'm not getting into your car... I am not going anywhere with you!" I screamed out at him, tears starting to stream down my face as I glanced around me trying to get someone to help me. But no one seemed to want to help me. They all kept their gaze away from us as they hurried along on their way. He shoved me roughly inside the front passenger seat and locked it before I could get out, quickly sliding into the driver's seat before speeding off. "Jesse, where are you taking me?" I yelled at him.

"I didn't think you were so dumb, you actually reported me?" he asked in a dangerously low voice without taking his eyes off the road.

I choked on my next words as they caught in my throat. I was so confused about what was taking place right now. "I... I did, b-but..."

"What did you think was going to happen? You thought that you would be free of me by stupidly reporting me to that stupid fucking cop... we have not even started yet cupcake! I am determined to break you again and again until you completely stop fighting me." He spoke through gritted teeth. I glanced out the window and realized I had no idea where we were A sob escaped my lips at his harsh words. "Don't you fucking cry, you brought this upon yourself! To think I was really going to try and be kind to you today. But you had to go and run your stupid mouth," he growled.

"I know, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything, I shouldn't have called him." I whispered like the weak person I was.

"You are sorry?" he snapped, "No... when I finish with you you will really be sorry!" he said with a sinister expression and brought the car to a screeching halt. I desperately glanced around to see where we were only to see that we were in the middle of nowhere. He had stopped beside the highway and only a few cars were driving past. If he decided to hurt me right here I didn't think anyone would even notice, then they would find my body after a few days.

"Jes-Jesse...p-please. I'm really sorry! I will do anything that you say right now... just please take me home." I begged him as he glared down at me.

He laughed, "You want to go home?" I nodded firmly. "Well since your mouth got you into this mess, don't you think you should get punished?" A tear escaped from my eyes when he began to lean in close, "You know on that first day that I saw you, I mean really saw you I thought you were a sweet girl easy to break. But so far you are proving to be a pain, it is time I end this and just claim you as mine!"

"Please, Jesse... just let me go. I promise not to tell anyone else about this. I will keep my mouth shut!" I began to plead with him and could see the anger only grow in his eyes.

"Well lucky for me you are stuck here and don't really have a choice this time... now do you?" He smiles at me while I see him pull his hand out from behind him revealing a plain white cloth. He shoves the cloth against my mouth covering it and my nose. Instinctively I try to hold my breath trying to fight him, choking out as I finally take in a deep breath of sweat chemicals. He had soaked the cloth in something. It smelled so sweet as it filled all of my senses and soon my vision began to blur. Everything got blurry as I realized I was dizzy. I could feel my body relaxing in the seat. I became so drunk and weak and knew that I couldn't fight him not after he had drugged me like this. As I feel my conscience start to drift, I allow it to succumb to darkness.
