Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Sphinx's Riddle

As Kratos journeyed through the desert, his thoughts were consumed by the knowledge he had gained from the ancient book. He knew that he had to find the source of the dark force that threatened Egypt, but he had no idea where to begin.

As he traveled, Kratos encountered a great Sphinx, looming large in the middle of the path. The Sphinx spoke in a deep, gravelly voice.

"Kratos, I have been waiting for you," it said. "I know of your quest to protect Egypt, and I am willing to help you. But first, you must solve my riddle."

Kratos was taken aback by the Sphinx's words. He had heard of the Sphinx and its riddles, but he had never imagined that he would encounter one himself. Nevertheless, he steeled himself and prepared to face the challenge.

"Very well," he said. "I will solve your riddle."

The Sphinx grinned, revealing sharp teeth that glinted in the sun. "Very well," it said. "Here is my riddle:

I am always hungry,

I must always be fed,

The finger I touch,

Will soon turn red.

What am I?"

Kratos furrowed his brow, deep in thought. The riddle was tricky, and he had no idea what the answer could be. He considered the words carefully, trying to find a clue that would lead him to the answer.

As he thought, the Sphinx watched him intently, its eyes gleaming with amusement. Finally, after much consideration, Kratos spoke.

"The answer is fire," he said. "It is always hungry, it must always be fed, and it turns anything it touches to ash."

The Sphinx nodded, impressed. "Well done, Kratos," it said. "You have solved my riddle. I will help you on your quest to protect Egypt. But be warned, the road ahead is treacherous, and you will face many challenges."

Kratos nodded, steeling himself for the challenges ahead. He knew that he could not fail. The fate of Egypt rested on his shoulders.

The Sphinx led Kratos to a hidden chamber deep beneath the desert sands. The chamber was filled with ancient artifacts and powerful magic, and Kratos felt a surge of excitement as he gazed upon the treasures before him.

But as he explored the chamber, he felt a sense of unease creeping over him. He sensed a dark presence lurking in the shadows, watching him with malevolent intent.

Suddenly, the shadows coalesced into a sinister figure, clad in dark robes and wielding a wicked-looking staff. Kratos recognized him at once. It was the sorcerer who had cursed Egypt.

"You have come too late, Kratos," the sorcerer sneered. "I have already unleashed the dark force that will destroy Egypt. There is nothing you can do to stop it."

Kratos drew his blades, ready to fight. He knew that he had to stop the sorcerer, no matter what the cost.

The sorcerer laughed, sending bolts of dark magic hurtling towards Kratos. Kratos dodged and weaved, using his blades to deflect the sorcerer's spells.

As the battle raged on, Kratos felt a surge of power coursing through his veins. He drew upon the magic he had learned from the ancient book, summoning bolts of lightning and streams of fire to rain down upon the sorcerer.

Finally, with a final burst of energy, Kratos dealt a mighty blow to the sorcerer, sending him flying across the chamber. The sorcerer slumped to the ground, defeated.

Kratos breathed a sigh of relief. He had saved Egypt once again. But he knew that the danger was not yet over. He had to find out how the sorcerer had obtained the power to curse Egypt and prevent anyone from using it ever again.

As he searched the chamber, he came across a scroll that contained a spell that could break any curse. Kratos knew that this was the key to ending the curse on Egypt and preventing anyone from ever using it again.

With the scroll in hand, Kratos made his way back to the Sphinx, who had been patiently waiting for him. "Did you find what you were looking for?" the Sphinx asked.

Kratos nodded. "I have found a way to break the curse on Egypt," he said. "But I must act quickly. I fear that the sorcerer's dark force is already spreading across the land."

The Sphinx nodded in understanding. "I will do what I can to aid you, Kratos," it said. "But you must act swiftly if you are to succeed."

Kratos set out once again, determined to break the curse on Egypt. He traveled through the land, gathering the ingredients he needed to perform the spell.

Finally, after many long days of travel, he arrived at the temple where the sorcerer had first obtained the power to curse Egypt. The temple was dark and foreboding, and Kratos could feel the evil energy emanating from within.

But he pressed on, determined to break the curse and save Egypt. He entered the temple and made his way to the altar where the sorcerer had performed the curse.

With the ingredients in hand, Kratos began to chant the words of the spell. As he chanted, he felt a surge of power flowing through him, and he knew that he had succeeded.

Suddenly, the curse was broken. The dark force that had threatened Egypt was dispelled, and the land was bathed in a warm, golden light. The people of Egypt rejoiced, and Kratos knew that he had saved them from certain doom.

As he made his way back to the Sphinx, Kratos felt a sense of satisfaction and pride in his heart. He had fulfilled his duty as the protector of Egypt, and he had saved the land from certain destruction.

As he arrived at the Sphinx, he saw that it was no longer there. In its place was a message etched into the sand.

"Thank you, Kratos," the message read. "You have saved Egypt from certain doom. You will always be remembered as a hero of this land."

Kratos smiled, knowing that he had done what he had set out to do. He had saved Egypt, and he had become a hero in the process. And he knew that he would always be remembered as the savior of Egypt, the protector of the land, and the hero of the people.
