Chapter 1 - An Ordinary Day

I woke up because of the morning's sunshine that made its way through the curtains, and because of the torture device that was invented in the 17s, the goddamn alarm.

After doing my morning routine, like brushing my teeth, taking a shower, preparing for college, and reading some threads on forums, it was about time to go eat breakfast with my older sister and younger brother.

Arisu had time today to prepare breakfast for us since she has an afternoon shift, while my younger brother was pulling out an all-nighter on a weekday… Kids these days…

Entering the living room, Arisu glances at me and says,

"Good morning, Arata. Could you please call over Akira for breakfast and tell him to get ready for school?"

"Sure thing, sis."

Going up to Akira's room, I knocked once and opened the door to his room without waiting for him to reply, "Morning. Come eat breakfast, you have to prepare to go to school."

"C'mon, how many times do I have to tell you to wait until I say it's okay to come in? But, okay…"

Seeing my little brother's exasperated face in the morning isn't what I'd call a wonderful sight, but he should really consider stopping playing games all day, sitting on his ass in front of the PC and instead he should start studying for his classes.

Leaving those unpleasant thoughts aside, I went back to the living room and took my spot.

After a few minutes, my brother came out of his room in his school uniform and by then, the food was laid out bare on the table, so we could all eat.

"Now that everyone is here, let's eat."

"""Thanks for the food."""

Having said that, we begin eating.

"It's so delicious, sis! The toast you make along with the ham you handpicked from the store is so good, I could eat this every day!"

The expression on my brother as he said this is inexplicable… Goddamn siscon.

"Ara, Akira. You already eat my cooking everyday since we're siblings… Besides, didn't I already tell you to stop playing games so much? It's not good for your health."

"...Yes, sis…You've told me so many times before, but I really need to improve my skills in Fortfight… I'm pretty sure you know I want to become a professional Fortfight streamer."

"Playing that game again…? It's good that you have a dream you want to achieve, but you shouldn't make that your biggest priority, so that if you fail to become a streamer, you can always fall back on something…"

"Arisu is right. The likelihood of me becoming the president of the country is higher than you have at becoming a professional Fortfight streamer. Besides, if you can't even beat me then there's no chance you can ever beat other high-ranking players."

"What do you mean!? Last time we played I managed to get a kill against you!"

"And do you really think that's enough when your K/D against me at the time was 0.02?"

"..."

"Arata…I thought you quit those games already. Finals are just around the corner, so I thought you'd at least take it more seriously. "

"Don't worry, it's been a few weeks since I last played a game."

The truth is that I did in fact play a game last night, but y'know, as they say… What you don't know can't hurt you.

"If you say so…"

And so, this is how today's breakfast went. Seeing as it's time to go to college, I say goodbye to my siblings and leave.

As I walk on the street I usually take to get to the train I go with, I listen to music through my earphones. God bless the person who invented them.

Arriving at the train station, I had to wait for a few minutes for the train to come. Embarking on the train, I receive a notification from MeToobz. Someone uploaded a clip of my favorite streamer.

Lately, I started watching streamers. Or more like, watching the clips of their best and funniest moments. One dynamic that I really like is the interaction between the streamers and the chat.

This made me want to try streaming as well. My computer is pretty decent if I do say so myself, and I am pretty decent at shooter games. Although, I don't know if I can act naturally on camera in the beginning.

I could also react to videos that are posted on MyToobz, since that's what a lot of streamers have started doing lately.

From the research I've done, you can't grow that easily on Spvitz unless you grow up on another platform, like MyToobz for example, and have your followers from that platform come to your Spvitz live stream.

Anyway, I tapped on the video and I saw my favorite streamer, KanpekiOjou-sama. She was playing a horror game that was released recently, while telling a story about when she was a student.

The game was relatively scary, its atmosphere was spot on for a horror game, the music was complementing the whole game, the graphics were good and the story was interesting to say the least. There were quite a few jumpscares, and yet KanpekiOjou-sama didn't get scared at all. Well, she did let out a scream once, which I found pretty cute.

Aah, such bliss. Watching her clips and streams always soothes my heart. She is the person who makes me want to try out streaming.

Finishing the video, I liked it and left a comment of support.

Looking outside the window, I could see that I was close to the station where I have to drop off.

The train stopped at the station and I got off. From here, the college I go to is only about a 5 to 10 minute walk away. Passing by the cafe shops, the city was buzzling.

I entered through the college's gates as I finally reached my destination, around me there were a lot of students that were doing the same.

Looking ahead, I find my best pal through the masses, Johnny. He took IT just as I did, and we quickly got off in the first year, because of our love for anime. So I called out to him.

"Yo, Johnny! Eating sugar?"

"..."

"Heh, wasn't that funny?"

"Dude, you're not funny."

Johnny, looking at me exasperatedly, was a pretty tall guy. He had his black hair combed to the back, and was wearing a (fake) gold necklace. He was slightly tanned, as he always goes on to his parents' private islands.

He is the kind of guy any girl would love to have. He was born into money and he's fairly handsome. However, that is if you can overlook one of the bad things about him… He is pathetic around women…

Like that one time when one of the most beautiful girls on the campus came up to him and asked him out on a date. Oh man, did he make a fool of himself…

"How did it go with that blonde girl?"

"Man… Don't even mention it. She dumped me 30 minutes into our first date."

"At this point, I'm not even surprised anymore. But let me ask, just in case. What did you do this time?"

"We went to a pretty expensive restaurant, we ordered food and drinks. The mood was just right, and as we gazed into each other's eyes, I thought it would be okay to touch her thighs. Turns out she didn't like it and the next thing I know? I got slapped…She then left and blocked me."

"Serves you right."

"Ouch. Well, I kind of took it too far…Oops, classes are starting. See you in class!"

Saying that, Johnny begins to run so that he doesn't make it late to class. Guess I should do the same.
