Shirley returned to her hotel, ponytailed her hair, and put her detective coat and backpack back on. Shirley said, "Goodbye vacation girl, hello girl detective." Shirley snuck over to the carnival when the sun went down to look for clues. Shirley went to the Ferris wheel and started her investigation there. Shirley looked in the bushes behind the Ferris wheel and saw something sticking out of it. Shirley said, "A clue." Shirley heard a loud rumble that was getting louder. Shirley said, What the." Shirley looked ahead of her and saw a stampede of stuffed animals headed right for her. Shirley ran for her life, but she got caught in the charge. Shirley tried to escape the stampede by pushing some stuffed animals away but fell to the bottom. Before her arm fell to the bottom, somebody stole her only clue out of her hands. When morning came, Shirley climbed out of the pile of stuffed animals and wiped the dirt off her clothes. Shirley said, "Looks like somebody doesn't want me to discover why all my old enemies are working here. They also got my only clue to solving the crime." Shirley looked at her bag labeled "Evidence" and saw it was empty. Shirley put the bag in her backpack and went into the big top to investigate the show.
Shirley said, "Well, I guess I could stay and watch the show. I could use a break from the case and a little more vacation time." The ringmaster said, "Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to Circus Domino. Please enjoy the show." Shirley looked in the center rink and saw The Campaign Prank Squad riding on the trunks of elephants on one foot. Shirley said, "Where'd they learn to do that?" When the security guard tapped Shirley on the shoulder, Shirley was puzzled by their performances. Shirley looked to her right and saw the security guard. The security guard said, "Come here." Shirley ran for her life, and the security guard chased her backstage. Shirley ran into a box and closed the door to hide. Then, the security guard pulled a lever, and it lifted Shirley's box into the rink.
The ringmaster said, "Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Our next act will be super and extraordinary. THE CAPTURING OF SHIRLEY HOLMES." The ringmaster pushed a button on a remote, and it opened Shirley's box. Shirley walked out of the box and was surrounded by The Campaign Prank Squad, Mr. Fletch, and Sherry. The ringmaster said, "Enjoy the show." Shirley got on her scooter and tried to run for the exit, but Sherry rode her motorcycle in front of her and blocked the entrance. Then Brad let go of the trapeze, grabbed his legs while her legs were on the trapeze, and Brad tried to grab Shirley. While everybody was trying to catch Shirley, the audience was cheering for them.
Shirley climbed up to the trapeze wire and tried to walk across. Then Scarlet cut the wire with an axe, jumped, and landed on a giant bouncy ball without falling off. While falling, Shirley tied her rope into a lasso and threw it at the lion's cage. Shirley swung across to the lion's cage, let go when she was halfway there, and landed on her feet. When that performance was over, the audience clapped for Shirley. Shirley looked ahead and saw Kyle running up towards her on a tiger. Kyle said, "Gonna get you." Shirley said, "No, you're not." Shirley jumped out of the way, and Kyle kept riding his tiger until he crashed into the bleachers. After that performance, the audience clapped for Shirley. Then Scott shot himself out of a cannon and flew at Shirley. Shirley got down on her stomach, and Scott flew over her and crashed into the bleachers. Connor shot himself out of the same cannon, but Shirley jumped, and Connor missed her, too. Connor looked to see where he was headed and crashed into Scott. After that performance, the audience clapped for Shirley. Shirley ran for the exit, but Sherry was still guarding it. Shirley ran up to Mr. Fletch, tripped him by swinging her foot under his feet, and stole his whip. Shirley put the whip on her belt, climbed to the top of the trapeze, rode across, and let go of it. Then Shirley used the whip to swing over Sherry's head. When Shirley escaped, the audience clapped for her.
Shirley ran for the exit of the carnival, but the ringmaster stopped her. The ringmaster said, "That was a great performance. How would you like to join my circus?" Shirley said, "No way. I'm a detective, not a circus performer." Shirley went to her hotel and started to think the case through in the elevator. Shirley said, "OK, what do I have? Everybody I ever faced works in a circus. Somebody doesn't want me to find out why. There are no suspects, no clues, a ringmaster who wants me to join the circus, and everybody who works there doesn't remember me. What does it add up to? Six or maybe zero? Because this puzzle doesn't piece together." Shirley went to the lobby of her hotel and researched the computers. Shirley said, "Circus Domino has been very popular in Hawaii over the past week. Here's something: A list of crimes has been cited in the same area at the same time, and somebody going by the name Electric Starfish has been proven to be behind all the crimes. Bad news: nobody's ever seen Electric Starfish or knows who he is. It looks like I have an unknown person to take down." Shirley shut the computer down and went back to her hotel room.
When the hotel closed, Shirley snuck out of her room and out of the hotel. Then Shirley took her flashlight from inside her backpack and looked around the carnival. Shirley heard footsteps and turned around but didn't see anybody behind her. Shirley said, "Get a grip, Shirley; nobody here but you." Shirley heard rustling coming from the bushes. Shirley said, "Who's there?" Shirley looked at the bushes and saw a biker walk out of them. Shirley said, "Hey, you, freeze." The biker saw Shirley, ran off, and Shirley chased after him. Shirley said, "Why don't they ever freeze?"
Shirley chased the biker to the merry-go-round. Then, the biker hit the switch and activated the merry-go-round to slow Shirley down. Shirley jumped on the merry-go-round, and it spun her around. Then Shirley jumped off the merry-go-round and chased after the biker. The biker ran into the big top, but Shirley chased after him. The biker got on a motorcycle and rode around the rink. Shirley got on another bike and chased after him. They drove out of the big top and to the food stands. Shirley threw her knife at the biker's motorcycle, which popped one of his tires. Then, the biker accidentally crashed his bike into the staircase for the Ferris wheel. Shirley stopped her motorcycle, helped the biker, and started questioning him.
Shirley said, "Who are you?" The biker said, "I'm Kris, the biker." Shirley said, "And you're sneaking around. Why?" Kris said, "Because I just planned to pull a prank on the performers tomorrow. I was going to set it up tonight." Shirley said, "Because you're only seventeen, right." Kris said, "Right." Shirley said, "You're free to go." Shirley was just about to leave the carnival. While Shirley was walking toward the exit, a ninja jumped down from the top of a tent. Then the ninja kicked a giant bouncy ball at Shirley, but it missed her when Shirley got down. Shirley tried to punch the ninja, but the ninja slapped her fist away.
The ninja jumped over Shirley's head, swung his foot under her legs, and tripped her. Shirley got up, looked at the ninja, and saw he was ready to fight. Shirley ran up to the ninja and tried to punch him, but the ninja grabbed her wrist and twisted it. Then, the ninja did a triple backflip while Shirley held her wrist and kicked her down. Shirley said, "This guy's good." While Shirley was down, the ninja jumped by her, threw a net at her, and caught her in it. Then the ninja pushed a red button on a remote, making the net electrify Shirley and knock her out. While Shirley was unconscious, the ninja grabbed the net and took Shirley with him. The ninja took his walkie-talkie off his belt and spoke to his boss. The ninja said, "The target got acquired, Electric Starfish." Electric Starfish said, "Bring her to my hideout and ensure she never finds out the truth."
