As I step into the village, the weight of the demons' presence is palpable. Their eyes follow me from every corner, their presence lurking in every shadow. My heart pounds in my chest, but I force myself to remain composed. Exorcising all 666 demons is no small feat, but I know I have to start somewhere.
I make my way towards the town hall, where the Mayor greets me with a stern expression. He wastes no time in getting down to business, sizing me up with a penetrating gaze. I meet his eyes without flinching.
"You must be Alan," he says in a deep voice.
I nod. "That's correct."
"We've been expecting you," he says. "You're here to exorcise the demons, I presume?"
I nod again. "Yes, that's why I'm here."
The Mayor nods, a faint glimmer of approval in his eyes. "Good. We've been plagued by these demons for centuries, and it's time for them to be gone for good. We're willing to pay handsomely for your services."
He goes on to offer a reward of 100,000 pounds upon the completion of my task, as well as lodgings at the inn for the duration of my stay. The promise of payment certainly catches my attention, but it's not the only reason I'm here.
As he leads me to the inn and shows me to my room, I take in the sights of the village. It's a small, remote place, with buildings that have clearly stood the test of time. But there's an undercurrent of fear that runs through the villagers, and I can't help but feel a sense of unease.
I know that facing these demons is not just about the money, but about confronting the traumas of my past and proving myself to the world. And I won't rest until every last demon is exorcised.
With a deep breath, I begin my mission. One demon defeated, 665 remaining on the kill counter. I'll take on every last one of them, no matter how fierce they may be.
