Mr. Bert tapped his chin as Lucian and Mellissa took a position on either side of Balour.
Mr. Bert pulled on his thin and long mustache that looked like whiskers, "I recognise their names, aren't those the two heirs that recently fought in the colosseum?" he asked with a hearty laugh.
"Yes, the two of them share a healthy rivalry with each other and decided to challenge each other's skills as Inquisitors," Balour lied through his teeth.
All Lucian could do was take a breath and try not to strangle Balour on the spot.
'Rival,' he scoffed in distaste, 'Someone has to have at least one advantage over you in some way to be considered a rival.'
Out the corner of his eye, he glanced at Mellissa who stood with scrunched-up eyes, as she realised that the captain was making things up, but after a moment she nodded her head and said nothing.
