"Has the goddess sent you to help me," the girl cried with tears rolling from her eyes.
"Speak of that useless goddess again and I'll leave you to starve little girl," the voice came again, and the little fish that escaped slapped down on the rock just a step from the shore.
She lurched forward, with her small scrawny body moving into the water, her instincts placed solely on her survival, her need to eat, it had been two days already since the village had anything.
But as she reached the rock the fish disappeared just as it had before, straight from her scrawny hands.
"Awaaa," she collapsed in the water without any strength left to climb back to shore.
"Is that little thing really worth crying for?" she heard the voice ask from the motionless foam.
"Please, please, please, I'm so hungry," the girl wept begging for a meal.
