Chereads / IMPENDING ADVENTURE / Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 1

Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 1

My heart was pounding fast because I didn't know what would happen to me. Since when did robots exist? When I was young, I told myself that if I ever met a robot, it would be my friend. But it seems like the one I'm facing is out to kill me. I opened my eyes and saw that he was about to proceed with his plan to kill me, but he was stopped by his companion, whose face was half human and half robot, to be exact.

"ST 20006, remember what the leader said: we don't kill humans." I breathed a sigh of relief because he followed his companion's instructions. I almost made a dying wish if he had continued.

"However, we need to erase her memory." It felt like the sky and earth came crashing down when he said that. I thought my ordeal was over, but there was more to come.

"They're not serious, are they? Where do they even come from?" I wondered to myself. Would Japan conquer our country?

"Right, memory serial number is?" Just like his voice, they weren't alive, and his body wasn't either. He held his forehead and raised his hand toward me. His companion face-palmed at his behavior. I sat on the ground, and it seemed they were going to talk for a while. So I started to leave with my back turned, not taking my eyes off them.

"ST 20006, are you regressing to being dumb? In the past, humans didn't create memory recording; that's why they were considered foolish at this time." I wanted to retaliate by removing the screws and hitting him on the head with a rock for calling us dumb. Let's see who lives when I pour water on him.

"Now, before I power you off, we should erase her memor-" Up to this point, where I was standing, I could hear what they were saying. They must be wondering why I was no longer in my place.

"Our leader will scold us, ST 20006, find her."

"Shit!" I cursed myself and quickly left my place because it was obvious I might be seen there. I was stunned when I heard the robot say, "Human detected." In less than a second, my place exploded, and rocks, trees, and especially me were thrown. It was really bad luck. My back hit a broken room, and I must be thankful that I wasn't pierced by iron bars.

"ST 20006! You shouldn't have done that!" His companion shouted.

"Ouch." It hurt, and I got a big bruise from that explosion. It hurt, but I had to leave because this might be the end of me. I continued to run, and when I turned to look at them, they were twice as fast as me.

"Our leader will kill us!" I suddenly stopped because the robot jumped in front of me. Earlier, a modern gun was pointing at me, but now his hand was pointing towards me with a red laser aiming at my forehead.

"Erase memor-"

"Tañala!" He suddenly panicked, so he easily took out his wings, but before he flew, he gently held my hand and then released it, flying away, leaving a trail of smoke.

"My God! Tañala! What happened to you?! I thought all the students had evacuated." I tried to stand up but immediately sat down due to the wound I sustained.

"You've got bruises on your face!" They helped me stand up, but I let go quickly because I still had to chase them.

"Wait a minute, two students were asking for help earlier. They were hit with concrete and wood." Even though what I was saying was unbelievable, they seemed to believe it because they immediately nodded.

"Alright, we're going to get them. Can you walk back?" I politely nodded, and they quickly left. Until I couldn't see them with my eyes anymore, even though it hurt, I continued to run and chase them. I wouldn't stop until I caught them. They were the ones behind the explosions happening. I ran until the very end of the university where the trees and the barrier wall surrounded me.

"ST 20006, let's go back to our time." When I finally caught up to them, I quickly hid behind a large tree. I saw the robot nod to his companion and raise his hand. A light emanated from there, and a circle appeared in front of them. They made me look like a fool, but I was happy to see it. The contents of the circle were their place, filled with buildings, flying cars, no trees, and robots freely roaming the streets.

"Going to 3000." They carried the stolen items and disappeared into the circle. I quickly took my phone and snapped a picture of them. After that, no evidence was left to prove that they were involved in the theft.

"Gotcha." I stood up, and they should be ready because I was going to reveal their origin from the future and put an end to the chaos in our area.

"Next time, when they say evacuate, EVACUATE," Mom applied alcohol to my wound, which hurt a lot, while she scolded me.

"Mom! It hurts! Psh, I'm just curious. You know I love things like this." Mom only sighed and bandaged my wound. She was worried, but there was nothing she could do. What had happened had happened.

"And besides," I stood up and gave her a proud look

"I'm still strong." Due to my mom's irritation, she hit my wound, and I sat down, crying out in pain.

"Tsh, go upstairs. I might make your wound worse." I grinned and ran to my room.

I took off my uniform, took a shower, changed into my house clothes, locked the door, and entered a hidden room.

'TING!'

Hearing the sound of my printing machine was like a one-way ticket to my success. I took the picture and placed it in the very center. I took the end of the red thread and turned it around. I held my breath because I only got half of it. I could only see the robot's hand there, and it was still blurry. "Robots" was placed in the middle of the word 'robots.' I took a sticky note and a ballpoint pen.

'Robots, they are the ones planning to rob our area.' I stuck it in the middle and wrote again.

'I wonder why they are doing this. Do they need something?'

'Where did they come from?'

'What do they need?'

'Will they kill us if they get what they want?'

'Are they going to take over the world?'

'Do they want to create chaos?'

'THEY ARE PLANNING TO...' I hit the table hard and smiled like crazy. I was going to show this to the media. If it gets out, they'll probably tear it apart. I looked at the things I had stuck on the wall.

"INVADE THE EARTH," I whispered. I also heard some knocking on the other door. I fixed myself first before going out. I fixed the tunnel of my room before opening the other door Mom and Dad entered.

"Mom? Dad? Why?" I asked. Mom looked at Dad worriedly.

"Ely, someone is looking for you downstairs." I was confused but went downstairs with them behind me. The principal of the school appeared with the two teachers I'd seen earlier.

"Ely Tañala, can we talk to you?" I wasn't sure, but from the principal's words, it seemed like we were going to have a serious conversation. I was scared and sweating as if I were in Lucifer's home.

"How are the other students?" When I started speaking, Mom placed three coffees on the table for our guests. I preferred water to coffee. Afterward, she left the room.

"For now, the others are in the hospital due to minor injuries. We haven't received any reports of deaths, and the police are currently investigating what happened in the explosion earlier." I breathed a sigh of relief.

"So, are you here to check on the condition of each student?" I didn't mean to be sarcastic, but I wondered why they were present. If they intended to check on the students' well-being, they could have sent a teacher or staff member, rather than the principal himself. The principal took a deep breath and sipped his coffee.

"We are here to ask you why you came back." The principal's words made my hair stand on end. I swallowed hard.

"Come back?" I asked.

"We're asking a simple question, Tañala," the principal said seriously, his eyes locked on mine. If looks could kill, I might be lying in a pool of my own blood.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I was scared, but I didn't show it because I didn't want to be blamed for a sin I didn't commit.

"There was a student who saw you, asked for help, but you ignored them. When the teachers saw you, you claimed a student had fallen, even though there was none. Now, tell us, Tañala, were you hiding something?" They needed to know the truth, even if it filled me with fear.

"I'm going to show you something." Surprise was evident on their faces. I stood up and motioned for them to follow me. With each step, sweat dripped from my forehead. I opened the door and removed the items blocking one of my doors, with Mom and Dad by my side.

When I opened the door, they saw the messy room filled with photos. I came forward and faced them.

"They, they are responsible for everything—the robberies and explosions in the university." I pointed to the center of the circle, and the principal took a picture of the robot.

"What... What kind of nonsense is this, Ms. Tañala?"
