The sound of the bell filled the room, which was a bit strange as the class had just started and not even 5 minutes had passed when we heard the bell ring.
This could mean either someone silly came to see me at the bottom of the bell or it was an emergency, however even if that was a silly thing we would have to take everything seriously as times are not the best.
The teacher gave the order for us to get out of the school on the emergency route we had trained, I was in the middle of the line.
From what other students were saying, what happened was a suspected terrorist attack, someone called the national police to say that bombs had been placed in our school, so everyone had to leave the school to wait for the police to arrive.
⁃ Look, there was the same thing at school 3 this morning - said a girl at the back of the queue.
⁃ I heard that all this is fake, they say that we are doing this as training for the time when the war breaks out so we know what and how to do.-said in response a boy with a face of someone convinced.
⁃ I think they are the ones who are doing this to mislead the police- added her opinion to this conversation a girl from the other row.
It was easy to understand that everyone already knew what would happen in not so distant times, even the children.
At this time of the year they should all be talking about snow and arranging to go out for a walk and go sledding, but the only topic of conversation was war.
⁃ And what do you think Cressida?- asked my friend, Ivanna, she had light hair and eyes as green as the most expensive emeralds in the world.
⁃ I have no idea, but most likely it's what that girl said, about the disorientation.- I replied with the tone of a person who doesn't overcome anything good in the situation.
I was not the exception to the rule, I also knew what was going to happen soon, my mother told me that I would have to move to Poland or go to the USA where my father was, if something started.
I didn't want to, I didn't believe they would get this far, I refused to believe that, so I didn't want to accept moving.
The police finally arrived with dogs and they searched the whole school but they didn't find anything. After they gave the principal and teachers the green light, we went back to class, this took approximately two hours so I only had two more periods, the biology class and foreign literature. These classes passed so quickly that I didn't even notice when I was leaving school with Ivanna.
⁃ If something happens, will you move to other country?- asked Ivanna to me with an air of concern growing each second.
⁃ No, I don't want to and I don't believe they can get that far, whatever happens I want to stay here because this is my home.- I replied without even a second thought.
My patriotic speech did not surprise Ivanna, she already knew the answer, we had been friends since kindergarten and by this time we have been friends for 13 years.
If someone who doesn't know me was to listen to me at that moment for sure they would say something that I don't know anything about and that I'm too young to say that kind of stuff and so on. That was one reason why I wasn't that open to my colleagues, because they wouldn't understand my points of view, they wouldn't understand my temperament and my tastes, only Ivanna really knows me, she knew how to annoy me and how to calm me down.
⁃ Well, I have to go here now, see you tomorrow and see if you don't fall and break your face! - said Ivanna with a playful smile on her face.
⁃ Look who's talking, the disaster girl in person! Goodbye! See you tomorrow! - I replied with the same playful smile.
We have a habit of having these mini discussions in the middle of nowhere, it was something that was normal for us but for others it seemed like fights between a couple who had been married for a good 30 years.
I was walking for a good 10 minutes down the street, around me there were big houses with stone railings, the railings had their particular differences but they all had the same style.
Reaching the end of the street, there is another house, just like the others, a yellow house with a brown roof that was barely visible because of the snow.
I went home and went about my routine, I went to read, then study and do my homework, only after that I called my father.
- Hello Cressida, did something happen? - said my father, his voice always seemed calm and that relaxation passed from to me, but this time he had a slightly worried voice.
- Hello, no dad, I just called to see how you are doing.- I replied with the calmest voice I could do, great and terrible reason.
- It's okay little star, I'm just a little busy, I'll call you later, okay?-- these were the last words I heard before the call disconnected.
After talking to my father my intuition wouldn't leave me alone, it was saying that something was wrong and that I should call my mother to see if everything is ok.
After about 5 minutes I couldn't resist in keeping calm and called my mom. In between the conversation went as expected, she was once again saying that she should come abroad as soon as possible and blah blah blah. I didn't want to hear any of this, my mother also didn't have any useful information about whether everything was ok at my father's work, so we ended our conversation shortly.
This situation with my father wouldn't leave me alone but I couldn't do anything, just hope that everything was fine with him and that I was just exaggerating.
The next day, as soon as I woke up, I received not very pleasant news…"
At this moment Rose stopped reading, she was very confused, because ,in this text, some very old terms were used, more precisely, national police.
This type of institution/organization was eliminated a good 7000 years ago, not to mention the mentioned countries that had changes in their names and then simply disappeared a millennia ago.
Rose wasn't sure what she remembered about the countries of the ancient world and the institutions/organizations of the same times.
For these reasons, Rose immediately left for the headquarters of the investigation department, to which she belonged.
Arriving at the building she enters through the front door and then says a strange phrase to the "security" after which he hands her a rainbow teleportation machine which she uses and right after clicking on the button she appears in her workroom, as always disorganized, except this time she had a pile of paper on the table and around it is a shiny and golden statue of a horned platypus.
The officer left the papers she had in her hands on the table and fetched a device that looked like a black coat button from the shelf and placed it on the table.
After having placed the button on the table she said "Misty, open the work table", after these words were said the button started to fly and turned on.
After having unlocked the computer she searched what was mentioned in the text, so she could determine the time of action.
After having done the research on the city of residence, the mentioned countries and the national police, Rose came to the conclusion that this could be happening between 1917 and 2148 which is a long time ago, no living being lives that long, at least none known to this day, Rose continued to investigate, to make sure she didn't miss anything.
She searched the same thing three times and, after that, Rose was having doubts if this was really a kind of biography or a fantasy story, because the dates didn't match not only with the files she had but also with simple common sense.
Rose was starting to believe that this was all simply a tool to distract her while the kidnappers were cleaning up, she wasn't proud of the fact that the only clue she had was a platypus statue and a huge manuscript that could just be a big lie.
For that reason she decided to visit the scientist's house again, if everything is the same she would have to continue reading.
