Chapter 5 - CHAPTER THREE

THIRD PERSON'S POV

"It's okay. Now as we all asked before, who called for the meeting?"

" did...I called the meeting," a deep voice echoed in the hall from the southwest direction where the huge oak doors stood which served as the entrance to the council gathering hall. The council members all gazed at the direction of the speaker and slowly appearing in their line of vision.

A man of good build wearing a white turtle neck and a long black coat over black pants slowly made his way over to the council table. His dirty blonde hair rested softly on his head just right above his eyes which framed the most beautiful honey coloured eyes.

"Alpha Jakob!?." , someone said as all eyes fell on the man in the white turtleneck.

"We have an issue," Jakob sat on the nearest chair as he looked at each of the council members slowly with exhaustion in his eyes but there was something else that reflected in those golden orbs...grief. Jakob was one of the oldest council members, he was present during the great divide when the two realms were separated after the war. He has lived for a long time.

"An issue, what could have possibly happened," Damon said as he stared at Jakob with worry.

"Something happened to the gate, I sensed it..." Jakob held his face in his palms as he took a huge breath.

"How is that possible if something was wrong with the gate gamma would have informed us," Jade said with a straight face as she raised a brow skeptically. Zhao looked at the other council members as they whispered among themselves and contemplated, there's no way gamma won't have informed us of this... unless, no way.'

"If you all would please quiet down. This is no time to bicker like children we have a serious issue on our hands... Jakob if you will, please continue." Baymore said sounding quite aggrieved.

"Thank you Baymore, as i was saying..."

"Ah, I miss gamma's cookies. Why didn't you invite her Jakob," Selane itched her thick curly hair with a twig as she spoke.

"I.. well she didn't come because..."

"Something happened to Gamma right," Zhao closed his eyes lazily after speaking. All eyes turned to Jakob as they all begged for answers.

"That's impossible how could anything have happened to gamma. Jakob please tell me it's not true," Flennea looked at Jakob with hope filled eyes while speaking as she was forced to think of the worst because of Zhao's words. Jakob sighed with grief as he turned away his line of sight from their prying eyes filled with questions. His little action confirmed the guesses hidden deep within their hearts which they refused to acknowledge.

"Jakob answer me, what happened to gamma!" Flennea stood up with a lot of momentum causing the chair she sat on flying as it burst into different pieces upon contact with the wall.

"Flennea control yourself!" Tristan said.

"I'm so sorry, I wish I got there sooner. I'm sorry for being to late." Jakob said as he shook gently while sitting with his eyes shut as he tried to wipe away specific images from his mind.

"After the strange feeling I got from the gate I decided to pay gamma a visit," Pausing to take a deep breath Jakob looked at the council as his eyes turned red.

"On getting to the town, it was all up in ashes. Dead bodies in the streets, blood at every corner. Checking through the town I found no survivors so I headed to Gamma's house in a hurry hoping she survived. I found her in a room upstairs, a spear sticking out her chest impaled right where her heart should be. Her eyes gouged out with her empty sockets staring right at me...I was too late, I couldn't save her... I'm sorry,"

Silence filled the hall then suddenly everyone bursted into tears, even Zhao the most unfeeling of them who had facial paralysis shed silent tears. Maine cried the loudest because gamma was like a mother to him. She was the only one who loved him.

"I cremated the dead bodies including gamma's and spread them out on the mountain." Jakob said as he trembled slowly with anger.

"who could have done this, who..." Tristan said as an aura of bloodlust enveloped him as his eyes turned red.

"I know who but we can't harm them" Jakob said as he clenched his fists tightly.

"Why can't we do anything to them," Maine spoke up suddenly and for once the council agreed with him for that was the most sensible Maine had ever been.

"Because they were being controlled."

"That's impossible, the only species capable of mind control are the Hex and they are extinct. They haven't existed since the great war." Baymore said with a tone of disbelief.

"I was on my way to the council when i saw a huge camp of Valkyries' marching towards the north. The flame in their eyes were gone," Jakob scrunched his eyebrows up while narrating what he witnessed.

"Hiding in the shadows I observed the camp from higher grounds where I noticed a huge clearing where they were larger in number while standing at attention. they looked like they were waiting for something."

"It can't be, could Darth be planning an uprising," Damon said as he raked his slender fingers through his hair.

"That's impossible, Darth will never hurt gamma," Jade slammed her fist on the table as while staring at Damon in the eye as she spoke word by word.

"Stop defending him all the time Jade, I thought you despised him," Tristian looked at Jade mockingly as he spoke. Darth was the leader of the Valkyries and Jade the queen mother of the Hexiak had a bit of a dark history with him. The whole council knew that but it was quite surprising to see Jade stand up for him anytime he was accused.

"I'm not defending him, I was just stating facts," Jade retorted coldly as she sat uprightly.

"Jade is right, Darth didn't betray us. He was captured. I saw him in chains, locked up in a cage surrounded by runes to restrict his powers. He was trying to talk to his people to snap out of it but they just looked on like mindless dolls." Jakob said as he clenched his fists feeling powerless. His words caused some of the council members to suck in a cold breath as they all wondered how such a majestic and powerful being like Darth could have been reduced to such a state.

"Who or what could have done this," Baymore said as he trembled in anger.

"Only one being is capable of this... an Hex," Zhao leaned lazily on his chair as he spoke softly but loud enough for the council members to hear.

"But i thought they were extinct," Baymore said as he looked at Zhao in confusion.

"But we have one on our hands. I saw it with my eyes at the Valkyrie camp the night before. The Hex kept chanting in a strange language which brought a strange reaction from Darth, his green pupils kept getting dimmer as he screamed in agony. Then the Valkyries all fell to their knees as the called the Hex master in unison." These caused the council to have really grave expressions as they all shared a common thought 'How monstrous of an existence could the Hex be to take down a major council member.'

"How did Darth resist it's mind control and do we have a rescue plan ?" Jade asked no one in particular.

"He might be struggling with having his mind controlled but I don't know how long he's gonna last," Jakob had a look of uncertainty on his face as he addressed Jade.

"But the Hex has a weakness... right?" Damon said as he looked right at Jakob.

"Yes, they do but..."

"A Faekrai... well a particular one. He's the reason why they were even extinct in the first place," Zhao said as he looked at Jakob lazily.

"Well it was nice knowing you Darth while you lasted," Selane held her right hand against her chest while giving a curt bow.

"Selane!!!" Flennea and Jade said in unison as they both looked at Selane with hopeless eyes.

"What! We don't even know where he or his kingdom is. They disappeared into nothing since the great war so it's technically hopeless," Selane said as she removed a saber from her hair.

"We might have another way," Jakob suddenly said causing the council to stare at him in unison.

"Gamma has a successor. I sensed vibrations from the gate but I didn't sense it come open. Also while at the Valkyrie camp, the Hex held gamma's eyes but he said the key was missing. He also got information from one of the Valkyries that a girl escaped."

"Ryu," Zhao suddenly said.

"Gamma's only grand-daughter, she should be the new successor but where could be," Flennea said as she stared at Jakob.

"Well we don't really have time on our hands we should find the girl before the hex does and also try finding him. we have no idea what the Hex is up to so we must act quickly," Jakob said finally as he looked at the council. The meeting ended with every council member leaving in a hurried manner.
