The World Magical Bestiary

This is a recording of all the known mystical beasts in Ancora, along with where they live, and how they should look, as well as some of their behaviors.

P.S. There is no undead of any kind in this world.

{ANTHROPOS}

Manticore - these are lion-like beings that are capable of flight, using their black, leathery bat wings to soar through the air. They have golden colored fur with an oak brown mane, and large orange cat eyes that glow like smoldering coals in the night. They are mostly domesticated and raised to draw the nobles' carriages through the skies over long distances in Anthropos, but also are known for being prideful and easy to anger. They act as an amazing deterrent from thievery as they are capable predators in their own right. Their visage can be seen as the symbol of the Temple of the Sun, as Goddess Philia's favored animal. If found in a dungeon, they are most normally a boss monster or the pet of one.

Goblin/Hobgoblin - goblins are grotesque, childlike creatures, covered in warts and sparsely placed hair. Hobgoblins are the same, but adult sized and slightly smarter/stronger than their counterpart, and normally leaders of the small settlements they make together. The two monsters breed rapidly in the wild, breeding like rabbits across swaths of land if left unattended. They can also be found in some dungeons in every continent.

Jackalope - these are knee-height rabbits with the antlers of a deer. Their speckled brown fur turns a stark white during the winter, as they shed their antlers to help camouflage themselves in the snow. These are used as small game, and are famous for their extremely soft fur.

{ASLARIA}

Fae - these are benevolent, humanoid creatures, that are most normally no larger than a man's hand, and tend to keep to themselves in hidden communities across the continent. They fly using bird wings that come in multiple colors, with voices that ring out like small church bells. Many of the elders in this species can also speak in the elvish language, with the rest preferring to communicate through telepathy. They never show up in dungeons, but have been known to point them out to elves and such that come within the vicinity of one.

Kelpie - this rare, horse-like creature lives in the sea and along the coastline surrounding the continent, and is very shy around bipedal creatures. They will normally run or swim away when noticing their presence, even when unprovoked. Kelpies are a deep green in color, having bare skin that resembles woven seaweed or kelp, and a long mane of wetted black hair along it's head, neck, and tail. Their large black eyes become a stainless white while under the water, glowing as they reach the deepest parts of the ocean.

Winged Wolf - these are silver-furred wolves with large white bird wings on their backs, allowing them to fly over the trees in search of prey. They have large deep blue eyes, and can see perfectly over long distances. Winged Wolves live in packs, and can be domesticated as guard dogs or house pets.

Bicorn - a large and fast horse with steel gray fur, with long red manes and tails. They all have icy blue irises, and a pair of straight, jet-black horns jutted from the upper region of their snout. There are hardly any left in the wilds of Aslaria, as most were domesticated and are now used to transport nobles and goods across the continent. Many are sold as an export to Anthropos as well.

{OHUL}

Kobold - a horribly mismatched creature, that looks like an ugly mix between a lizard and a mangy dog with dandruff. These ugly little monsters also enjoy mining to an extent, causing trouble for the dwarves sometimes in an attempt to monopolize any ores they find throughout the mountains. They're fairly crafty in making traps and tools, and only slightly more advanced than goblins or hobgoblins.

Golem - unlike in the myths of Earth, golems are natural creatures, made from earth, stone, or crystal, although the latter is extremely rare. They are made from a toddler sized, rat-like beast that builds up material in a humanoid shape that they can move at will using magic. Directly killing the golem "core" destroys it, but what's left is wholly inedible, but great if used as a crop fertilizer.

Augur Goat - these goats grow up in the mountains of Ferrum, eating ore and granite. Their bodies produce different types of wool, depending on what metals their diet consists of. The most common are iron, copper, and bronze, but there are some that have been found with golden fleece. Their horns are like that of a rams, but are made out of diamond.

{PERDITA}

Dragons - there are three types of these majestic and powerful beings; flame, thunder, and shadow. Their bones can be found on all the continents, but have avoided the eyes of man and beast for centuries. Some scales can be found alongside the bones, which can be used for high grade potions, artisanry, and blacksmithing.

Flame dragons are a covered in blood red scales, with long horns on either side of their head, over their sky blue eyes. They tend to be lazy, but never back down from a good fight.

Thunder dragons are enshrouded by bright green scales, with a white goatee, and giant antlers. They tend to be arrogant, loud, and somewhat self-centered, believing they deserve everything they want.

Shadow dragons are coated in scales that are like a shining obsidian, and bright silver hair running down it's spine, with silver colored eyes that shine like the light of the full moon. They are peaceful and silent unless provoked.

Pegasus - a chocolate brown horse with angelic wings of the same color. It majestically soars through the skies above the floating island, and can turn invisible, with hooves that make no sounds, even when running. Their deep brown eyes are captivating and full of life, with an added beauty from it's flowing sea blue mane. It's said to have once been Aldir's chosen mount, but none have been found in the centuries after the Holy War ended.

Nymph - humanoid beings of nature, spirit-like, varying on the environment they live in. They camouflage themselves as trees, water, and even wind or mist. Nymphs speak to each other through telepathic empathy, and speak to others aloud after probing their minds for whichever language is most known to them.

{THE OCEAN}

Sea Serpent - they're essentially giant eels, about the height of a bus, and the length of two. It's grey skin is coated in mucus, with glowing lines running along it's body. The creatures aren't seen often, but when they are, it never ends well for whatever it goes after.

Sirens - the merfolk of Ancora, who's favorite thing to eat are the men they lure in with their alluring song. Women and children aren't unaffected by them, but it's heavily mitigated. No one who's heard the song remembers what they were saying, but remarked on how they could still feel something pulling them back to the coastline. No one knows for sure what they look like, except for those that only ended up as bones on the ocean floor.

Great Sea Turtle - a giant sea turtle that swims around the world, quite possibly the last of it's kind. It's about 1 mile long and 3/4 mile wide, carrying an island on it's back, which is said to hold treasures that mortals can only dream of. Many believe that it's lonely, mourning call is the cause of earthquakes.
