Chapter 427 - Fat Steve

"A reasonable assumption given the information you have available but I am rather curious as to why you were exiled to begin with?" Dumbledore said with a confused look. "I have no idea to be honest with you but more importantly should i do what they want and just keep my head down?" Nick asked seriously. He didn't like it but in this case the old goats advice on this matter will probably be the correct course of action. "In a normal time my answer might be different but considering the circumstances of the world today it would be for the best to do as they wish , at least temporarily." Dumbledore said seriously.-

Nick sighed "I thought so but was hoping you might say otherwise." he said honestly. "The order of the golden sands is not a group to be trifled with even by people like myself. While your growth is astonishing and your enchantments extraordinary you are not at the level where you can handle them yet." the old man said softly. "Fine I'll play by their rules for now but I will eventually kick their teeth down their throats." Nick said with a huff before leaving the office.-

"I don't doubt it." Dumbledore muttered with a tired sigh and turning his attention back to the paperwork on his desk. Nick was surprised that he hadn't lost his temper with everything that had been going on and was still actually fairly calm. "That is because of your soul finally stabilizing from your reckless expansion of it previously." Celebrimbor said from within the mindscape. 'What do you mean?' Nick thought confused. The elf pretty much lived in Nicks head and had gotten good at hearing his thoughts as a result so Nick wasn't surprised about it considering the elf was actually fairly wise.-

Getting advice from a several thousand year old elf in exchange for a little less privacy was a bargain no matter the situation. Besides it wasn't possible for Celebrimbor to try and betray Nick considering he was bound to the system and was only allowed away from it with good behavior. It may seem a bit cruel but the elf had agreed to this when he chose to take the systems offer. "The soul is deeply tied to your very essence so when you expanded it like you did your emotions were destabilized and heightened." Celebrimbor spoke calmly.-

'So all those outbursts were just because of my soul being unstable?' Nick questioned unhappily. "Not entirely but for the most part yes." the elf said with clear amusement. 'Why didn't you say anything before now?' Nick asked and the response he got was mildly infuriating to say the least. "You wouldn't have learnt anything if I had." the elf said smugly. Nick groaned but understood what Celebrimbor meant. This was one of those lessons that was mostly harmless to learn but embarrassing to an unbelievable degree. It was like learning how to dance and stepping on your partners feet.-

Embarrassing yes but ultimately harmless. Still with the conversation with Dumbledore out of the way Nick didn't have any other plans besides grabbing everyone's favorite Niffler from Mcgonagall. Steve may as well be a mascot for Hogwarts so Nick agreed to allow Mcgonagall to take care of him when Nick wasn't in the castle. The small thief was perfectly okay with that too since Mcgonagall was a big softie despite how stern she seemed. 'If he hasn't gained weight I'll owe Ron a galleon.' nick thought with a chuckle as he knocked on the door to Mcgonagall's office.-

"Come in." her voice spoke from the other side with clear confusion. She couldn't really be blamed since she was definitely not expecting any visitors. Nick pushed open the wooden door and smirked when he saw the surprise on her face at his appearance. "Should you not be on the train at this moment Mr. Ravenclaw?" She asked confused. "I had my house elf deliver me to Hogwarts instead." Nick said honestly. She nodded in understanding "Very well , what is it you need?" She asked calmly. "Just came to grab the little trouble maker is all." Nick said with a grin before spotting his target snoozing on a pile of suspiciously familiar silver ingots.-

Steve had gotten FAT over the last three months as he almost resembled a ball with how round he was. Nick just shook his head at this and took out a galleon and dropped it on the stone floor "Ting!" the coin bounced and the niffler stirred fro it's slumber. "What have you even been feeding him for him to get so out of shape?" Nick couldn't help but ask and the elderly witch looked embarrassed. "I suppose the better question would be 'what hasn't he eaten?' instead. The elves are particularly fond of testing new recipes on him and he seemed content with it so i may have allowed an unhealthy amount of gluttony." Mcgonagall said embarrassed.
