Chapter 379 - True prophecy

He was unusually calm after the ritual as though a great burden had been lifted from him and in some ways that was quite true. His newly acquired power may take some training to get his previous level of control over but would otherwise accelerate his preparations against Zeus greatly. Take his current and only active mission for example. Right now he theorized that with his current amount of mana he should be a able to knock out the main objective of forging two hundred and fifty thousand rings of protection in about three months.-

He was already right around a quarter done already at right around eighty thousand rings completed. With nearly quadruple the amount of mana as before the ritual he could increase the amount of rings he could forge per day by nearly the same amount. Before he was sitting pretty at a little over five hundred a day but that multiplied by four was around two thousand a day. If the math was right then Nick assumed that around three months from now he will be done with the first part of the mission. Specifically in about eighty five days according to the math which he estimated to be around October twenty fifth.-

The reason it would only be done then was that school ended on June first so he would be away from his workshop until September at the earliest at that point. Dumbledore had already stretched the board of governors patience thin with the exemption to all classes that Nick had so there was no chance at all that he could stay at the castle over the summer too. This meant Nick had roughly thirty days to crank out rings at full speed before he has a mandatory three month break from it.-

'That's fine as I will be busy over the break with my new atronachs.' Nick thought the next morning as he was eating breakfast. His friends wouldn't have time to bother with him for most of the month as they had exams to deal with. Each classes exam was spread between the next four weeks forcing all the students to cram when they weren't taking the tests. Nick was going to drop nearly all other activities and studies for the month to work on the rings. On an unrelated note Harry had indeed struck the final blow against Voldemort apparently as prophesy dictated.-

Apparently the man had pulled a fast one on Nick and abandoned his body after getting serious spiritual damage from the arrows and fled to his nearest Horcrux. Apparently the chaos of Nicks attack had allowed the greatly diminished soul to slip through his net and attack Harry. In a hilarious twist Harry happened to be practicing with his dagger at the time and swung it into the mans soul form accidentally. True prophecies might be vague but they were damn near ironclad in how they must be fulfilled. Harry was supposed to deal the final blow with a power that Voldemort knew not and he did exactly that.-

In canon that power was the hidden soul shard in Harrys forehead and the elder wands loyalty issues. Either way Harry was finally free of that damnable prophesy and had even started to heal the scar on his forehead. Nick had checked secretly and was pleased to find that with the main soul of Voldemorts gone the shard had begun to dissolve into Harrys soul strengthening it. The problem Nick had however was that the words of Chronos weren't true prophecy in that the titan had only seen the flow of time in a general sense.-

True prophecy instead locks the future in place as a very specific outcome to take place. For example if a seer were to say that you would die on a specific month that was coming up it didn't necessarily mean this year. Instead you could live a long and healthy life completely forgetting about that prophecy until you go to sleep during that month as an old person and never wake up , fulfilling the prophecy. The only things that Nick knew for certain was the fixed points that simply couldn't be changed regardless of whatever actions he took.-

The first was that Grindelwald could not be stopped from completing his ritual while the second was the return of the surviving gods. The rest was vague and as such gave Nick some room to wiggle about and push the odds in his favor. For example if he could figure out where Zeus is sealed at he could set traps for the weakened god before he was released. The opposite was also true with the likes of Hephaestus as he could set recovery items near the sealed craft god so that he could work with him almost immediately.
