Chapter 369 - Approaching chaos

That was of course no longer the case since Nick had basically solved all the problems Lucas would have had at this point and even elevated his position in the world. He would after all be the second person in the world to truly know and understand how to create and enchant things as Nick does. This didn't even begin to include the fact he could be considered a subordinate of house Ravenclaw and as such despite being a vampire was fairly powerful from a political standpoint. That vampress would undoubtedly notice this drastic shift in Lucas's situation from her spies and be furious.-

Just because she wouldn't mind waiting a few years for Lucas to crumble under the pressure didn't mean that she wasn't keeping an eye on him since after all it wouldn't do for him to die or take refuge with some other vampire clan. In fact Nick was certain that she already knew that Lucas had been taken by a wizard and his house elf and was likely trying to figure out who that wizard was. 'Jokes on them for not realizing that it was a disguise.' Nick thought in amusement.-

There was honestly no way to connect that form with Nick as the only outlier was Dotty and distinguishing one house elf from another was stupid difficult. By normal standards they were ugly creatures with wrinkled skin and huge ears that were all as thin as twigs. They also very rarely were born with easily identifiable features that set them apart from the rest and it was only in the small details that they could be told apart. Dotty for example had a set of wrinkles on it's face that were unique which let Nick identify them.-

"So what sort of bloodline abilities do I have now other than that one I already had?" Lucas asked curiously. "You can turn into mist , control cold to a degree , walk about in the sun freely and turn into a bat. Out of curiosity what was your original ability?" Nick asked after listing the new abilities. "I could breath underwater , It wasn't even all that useful either since I suck at swimming." Lucas said honestly. "Ah a mundane ability to be sure but an ability none the less." Nick said nodding in understanding. "So I can just go for a walk without all this extra fabric and not have to worry about my skin getting covered in blisters in five minutes?" Lucas asked double checking.-

"In theory that is what it should do yes." Nick said with a nod. "Then you'll have to excuse me for a moment , I have missed feeling the warmth of the sun on my skin dearly over these last few years." Lucas said and hurriedly removed his thick coat and hood before walking out of his room and into the hallway of the manor. The sun was starting to fall but there was still plenty of light coming through the windows so he tentatively held out his hand half expecting pain but all he felt was warmth as the sunlight touched his hand.-

He didn't tear up or anything dramatic like that but smiled widely before stepping into the light with a comfortable sigh. Nick didn't interrupt him despite wanting to see the other abilities in action to make sure they were as good as he hoped. He was confident that they wouldn't be disappointing at all but wasn't a big fan of making guesses about stuff like this. Lucas eventually got enough of just standing in the sunlight and remembered that Nick was still there.-

"Sorry about that , we still needed to go over the other abilities right?" He asked with an awkward smile. "Cold manipulation , mist form and bat transformation to be specific. " Nick reminded and Lucas nodded. Cold manipulation was horribly mana exhaustive apparently as Lucas barely tapped into it before his mana reserves plummeted sharply. Mist form was actually horribly broken in Nicks opinion as Lucas could change specific parts of his body into mist and was nearly unaffected by both physical attacks as well as most spells. It did have a weakness in the form of dispersal however as using magic to kick up a gale scattered the mist temporarily.-

The bat transformation cost a chunk of mana and turned Lucas into a small crimson furred bat. Time passed by after that as Nick held off on teaching Lucas any crafting but assigned him several books on just pure theory and basics of smithing to study. News arrived verifying what Grindelwald said about him leaving Europe as a town in Africa was sacrificed. 'By my calculations I should have roughly two years before he starts the reset and then a few after that until Zeus shows up with Hephaestus and Hestia , so after I graduate is when I need to start keeping an eye out for the gods.' Nick thought seriously.
