Chapter 330 - Secret alchemist(2)

"Now that's a face I haven't seen in many years." Dumbledore said with nostalgia as he walked up. "I can only think of a single person who may take on that visage whilst in my presence , it is good to see you Nico." he spoke warmly. "Albus I was just helping this child understand a flaw in his understanding of runes , it is quite impressive what he has achieved without proper guidance in this matter you know." Flammel said with a wide smile. Dumbledore chuckled "Always the teacher eh old friend?" he asked jokingly.-

Flammel shrugged "I always find that it helps to refresh my knowledge by teaching others. To be fair though there is clearly not much that this young man needs to learn on the topic as he clearly has a firm grasp of the language , see for yourself." flammel said while pointing at the book on the table. Dumbledore picked it up and skimmed through it with a surprised look "If the basics weren't clearly skewed I would almost think that you wrote this Nico. It is a very good compendium of enchantments beyond the unnecessary complexity. " he said honestly with a sigh.-

"My thoughts exactly!" Flammel said in happy agreement. "Might I ask why you are writing this as I doubt you have much need for such a thing with your enchantment method?" Dumbledore asked curiously while setting the book on the table. "I was going to create a copy of it before giving it to my two friends that are studying runes as a christmas gift." Nick explained since he had no reason to lie. "According to Filius that is miss Granger and miss Greengrass correct?" The old goat confirmed and Nick nodded. "After a revision into the proper rune format I believe it would be a fine book for learning from. I do hope I can convince you to add a copy to the library as well." Dumbledore said honestly.-

"I'm flattered but it's not something that deserves to be added to a school library like the one at Hogwarts , none of the enchantments even have a description of what they do." Nick said honestly. "While I can agree that it would be a poor choice for an amateurs to pick up , but for an inexperienced but knowledgeable individual it is an excellent teaching text as it contains every level of enchantment from simple to complex." Flammel disagreed with Nick.-

Rather than arguing with someone who clearly knew better than him Nick said that he would consider the matter. Flammel stayed to chat for about an hour before leaving with a promise to visit at a later date when things weren't so busy. The days portion of the pageant ended shortly after that with a score assigned to each magical beast that had been present. The judges were quite professional as they even scored the obvious joke creatures that Nick had seen previously. While Both dusk and Nazgul had a similar score Nazgul won out slightly thanks to her friendly demeaner compared to Dusks angry mean one.-

The next days pageant part was basically a catwalk where the bests got to show off their abilities and move around so everyone could see all of them. There was extra points if the beast was dangerous but under control. Nick found that part rather funny as Nazgul could directly attack and consume souls while dusk was a powerful immortal bird. In the ministries classification Dusk was an XXXXX class dangerous creature and Nazgul had no classification for now so the danger was definitely present.-

Still that was a matter for tomorrow as far as Nick was concerned while the library was a matter for today. He was more than eager to dive back into the treasure trove of knowledge set before him. He was not surprised at all to see several tomes written by Nicolas Flammel himself on various topics considering the man had a particular fondness for the school as a graduate. Despite this Nick made sure that the only topics he read books on while he was here as those that were rare and little known.-

For example he found tomes on flight magic , veritology , rituals , spatial magic and even alchemy that were hard to find normally. The books on flight magic helped him greatly with his understanding of the topic despite once again not having any complete magics on it. The veritology books were mostly on more exotic materials and how wands used to be made before the industry standardized the procedure. The rituals mostly covered the same kinds as the books in Hogwarts so he only skimmed them. Spatial magic though was a stupidly complex matter that gave Nick a headache as he copied the two books he found.
