Chapter 133 - Over due conversation

This combination of many striking features altogether resulted in Nick appearing regal and even slightly imposing despite his young age. "You clean up rather nicely I would say" Helena complimented his appearance. "Thank you , that is the whole idea for this get up after all." he said as he dismissed the summoned mirror. "TEMPUS!" he said with a light tap of his wand to check the time. "4:48 , I should make my way to the headmasters office to wait for my escort." he said before leaving the workshop and locking it behind him.-

The few students still at Hogwarts gasped in awe and pointed as he passed by on his way to Dumbledore's office. Mcgonagall was waiting outside the large bronze griffin statue that served as the main entryway to the headmasters area. She smiled appreciatively at him as he approached her "You clean up well Mr. Ravenclaw." She praised honestly. "I would certainly hope so with the effort I put into it." he joked with a smirk. "Best be on your way up as your escort should be arriving any moment." she said before turning to the statue "Cricket crunchies!" she said and the statue began to move in order to allow passage.-

Nick merely shook his head at the strange password that Dumbledore had set this time for his office. Mcgonagall was clearly only here to allow him up as she left after saying the password with an encouraging pat on the shoulder. Nick steeled his emotions as for the first time in the entire school year that he was aware of , he will be alone with Dumbledore. His anger had mellowed out over time but he still very much disliked the man. When he walked into the office he was rather surprised to find that it was actually very messy.-

Artifacts , books , scrolls and unusual things sat in haphazard piles along the side of the office while a row of paintings adorned the wall all observing Nick just as he observed them. Once satisfied with his observation Nick turned to look at the large wooden desk at the far end of the room or more specifically to the right of it from Nicks perspective. There a large red and golden bird roosted on a metal perch and was looking at Nick with familiar golden colored eyes warmly. "He has been quite looking forward to this meeting you know." a calm wizened voice said lightly.-

Nick's eyes flitted over to the source of the voice sitting behind the desk with both hands in plain view with neither holding a wand. Dumbledore wore his usual grey robes and half moon spectacles while a gentle expression sat on his face. "I may have visited sooner had the circumstances been different." Nick said with narrowed eyes and a icy tone. Dumbledore sighed "I admit I overstepped my bounds earlier this year and apologize for any problems that may have caused you." he said sincerely and Nick relaxed his hostility.-

"The resemblance is rather uncanny you know?" Dumbledore said suddenly looking lost in thought. "In what regards?" Nick asked not understanding what the old man was referring to. The old man's eyes focused again "Your eyes , I am one of the few people in the world to have the privilege of meeting both a thunderbird and phoenix before. Besides being birds did you know that the only trait they visibly share is their eye color?" he answered the question with another. "I was horrified when it chose me you know? I thought I was completely ruined since the nail that stands out the most.." Nick said lightly while looking at the wand in his hand.

"Is the first to be struck down , is the rest of that particular phrase I believe. I cannot claim to not understand your thoughts at the time , an orphan with an extraordinary talent and personality. It does remind me so very much of another pupil of mine who did not turn out how I had hoped. It was my own fear of precisely that that drove me to my actions , I sought to provide you a sense of security , of protection. But like so many plans before I was far too self absorbed to realize exactly what I had done until it was too late and ruined it instead." Dumbledore said tiredly.-

"You know I was so overcome with anger that I came this close to attacking you that day with the most powerful spell I knew at the time. It was only later that I realized that such an action may have placated my wrath at that time but it would have ruined my future. I don't like you , nor do I think I ever will , but that does not mean a level of cordiality can't exist between us. So unless there is a true need we stay out of each others way , agreed?" Nick said seriously. Silence filled the office for a few moments before Dumbledore slowly nodded and spoke but a single word "Agreed."
