Chapter 37 - Chapter 34 - The Gods Aren't Ready....Are You?

Somewhere Within The Dungeon - Center of the Tree of Yggdrasil

Puck let out a small pained grunt as he landed on his face with Secretary Dae's shadow clone nowhere in sight.

He slowly stood to his feet, rubbing the side of his head to stop his head from throbbing, only to be met with the sight of a sudden system notification.

"Well.... At least it's not horrible news I guess?" Puck mumbled to himself, cursing his luck.

Even with his Luck stat being maxed out, he still finds himself in these situations....

"I guess that's what I get when I'm the apostle for a mad god...." He says to himself as he inspects the area.

He was about to cast a spell to light up the rather dim lit area of the dungeon, only for a strong gust of wind to nearly blow him off his feet.

"Come closer, little one~" A soft, almost ghost-like whisper floated on the wind.

It made a shiver go up Puck's spine, although, for some odd reason, it wasn't one of fear.

No....

But one of excitement.

Like as if you'd just gotten home after being away on a vacation or business trip for so long.

The dungeon.

The voice.

The very air itself.

It felt like....

Home?

Before Puck could debate on this feeling any longer, a sudden urge to move forward filled his being.

And as he began to move forward, small, yet vibrant, orbs began to light themselves along the walls of, what he now could make out, a humongous underground cavern/garden.

Puck didn't know when it happened

Various plants and insects spanning out for miles, showcasing a cornucopia of unknown and fantasy-like creatures.

A vibrant landscape rolled out before Puck as he walked down a shady path surrounded by humongous trees, the orbs and walls around himself fading away as if they were never there, being replaced by artificial sunshine from an unknown source.

But that wasn't what drew Puck's, his eyes were firmly glued on the path ahead as he soon reached a clearing revealing a quiet meadow with a soft breeze blowing through it.

Several thought flowers in a literal rainbow of colors stretched out before him.

It took Puck's breath away.

It all just felt so....

Familiar.

He took a step towards a small hill in the center, taking note of several small lights as they flew about, only now realizing that they were fairies.

In fact, several other mythical creatures walked and flew about the ethereal field, as if he weren't even there.

As he approached closer to the mound of flowers, he quickly realized his first mistake.

His first mistake was letting his guard down.

His second mistake was thinking that he was safe in a dungeon of all places.

And his third and most fatal mistake was....

Not realizing that it wasn't a hill in front of him.

But the Dragon Queen herself.

The hill began to move and unfurl itself from the ground, causing Puck to fall back onto his back as he stared up at the massive head of the breathtaking dragon.

She had vibrant green moss growing down her back to her tail with flowers sprouting out of it as if they had always been there. A mane of billowing whitish green hair fell from her head down her back and also the tip of her tail. Her main body itself was a light brown with green patches of moss  and dark brown rocks scattered about. She had a crown of beautiful light and dark brown horn like antlers coming out her head, complementing her unruly head of hair that fell over her eyes like a weeping willow. And her eyes....

Her eyes.

They were a vibrant shade of pink that held such a deep motherly love inside of them....

That it nearly brought Puck to tears.

She had a majestic and unearthly aura about her.

Like as if he was staring at the mother of earth herself.

"So.... You're the boy my father chose to be his apostle?.... Hmm.... I must say.... My father is as eccentric as ever! I'm glad to see that some things never change!" She exclaims with a giggle.

Though her mouth didn't move, Puck could hear her voice as plain as day, as if it were coming from nature itself.

And her voice....

It was even more alluring than her eyes!

It held a sweet and motherly tone to it, like as if she were speaking to her own newborn child!

It made Puck relax instantly, as well as bringing up several memories of his own mother....

Before.... You know....

"Here, let me help you up, little one." She purred sweetly, using a single large, moss covered, claw to help Puck back to his feet and push him forward toward her a bit. "Now.... Lemme get a good look at you~~ Hmm...." She giggled as she inspected him closely. "Strange....have you not spoken to my husband? I see that you have his blood, but you don't seem to have his.... I SWEAR! MY FATHER CAN Be SUCH A PAIN IN THE-" She began to curse in an old draconic language that Puck couldn't comprehend.

Or want to.

But he could make out several swears due to his draconic heritage.

Though the anger and killing intent that was currently flowing off the dragoness's body made that more than apparent.

And just as suffocating.

Though, much due to Puck's relief, her bout of anger didn't last long.

Just as it seemed like nature itself was about to have a fit around her, which included the sky turning an ominous black, it all suddenly turned back to normal.

The dragon queen turned back to look at Puck with an apologetic look and a soft smile. "My apologies! I forgot my manners for a moment! My name is Kaos @&$$@&#&?!@?$? and I'm the First Dragon Queen, the Dragon of Life and Prosperity. You may just call me Kaos if you'd like."  She said while extending a claw forward for Puck to shake.

Which he did so with as much grace as possible before clearing his throat and giving her a low respectful bow. "M-My name is Puck Gier, and I'm an SSS Ranked awakener from Earth. You can just call me Puck." He said with as much respect as he could muster.

"Oh? Polite, respectful, AND cute?! There's no way your my father's apostle!" She exclaimed teasingly, causing much to let out a smaller nervous chuckle.

"Y-Yeah.... About that.... You keep mentioning your father.... But I don't believe we've ever met....?" He said with a small gulp, sweat running down his brow.

Kaos blinked in surprise at this, placing a claw on her chin as she gave Puck a thoughtful look, "Wait a moment.... How much has Dark told you about us?"

Puck staggered back at this for a moment as he tried to comprehend what she just said.

Kaos is Dark's daughter....?

He just can't see the resemblance at all!

"H-He told me.... about how he's an old God and how he and the other Gods don't really see eye to eye.... Why?" He asked, only to receive a small scoff in response.

"I swear, father.... You and your tricks...." Kaos let out a small annoyed sigh as she rubbed her snoot.

She suddenly pushed Puck backwards, only for him to land in a beanbag made out of flowers and moss.

"Sit there and get comfortable. We're gonna be here for a while...." She smiled as a small wooden table formed between them, a couple of fairies floated over with a tea set and some leaves. "What's your tea of choice? And are you hungry at all?" She asked in a motherly tone.

But before Puck could say anything, a fairy carried over a tray of sandwiches and placed them before him.

Kaos hummed softly as she poured the tea before finally addressing the conversation at hand.

"Father seemed to have left a lot of important information out of his explanation, so I'll have to start from the beginning...." She said as she took a small sip of tea which was immediately copied by Puck, who immediately melted at the taste.

If pure melted gold encrusted with diamonds had a taste....

This would be it.

The tea leaves were fresh and fragrant and there was just a hint of honey and lemon.

Kaos let out a small happy sigh before continuing. "Father isn't an old God...."

This one sentence almost made Puck spit out his tea, only for him to end up in a coughing fit instead.

The dragoness giggled at Puck's reaction. "No, comparing my father to a God is like comparing a pigeon to a hawk or tiger. My father was born before the universe even took shape, before the thought of time or space. He was merely a conscious adrift in the endless darkness of the void. And it was there that he found his power through madness and loneliness. For, you see, father was perfectly aware of his surroundings and for the first few millennia tried to figure out his purpose." She said simply before taking another long sip.

Puck wanted to say something, but couldn't find his voice to.

He simply took a bite out of the sandwich in his hands.

And holy shit was it good!

"It wasn't until after debating over his own existence that my father finally fell into the depths of his insanity. But he didn't despair, no.... He relished in the feeling. For, with insanity, came new ideas and thoughts that kept him preoccupied during his lonely time in the void. And that's where he gave birth to us."

Puck watched as she sat up proudly at this, unfurling her wings for the first time since he met her.

He dropped his sandwich in awe as he stared at the sight of Koas wings, which shined with their own ethereal light compared to that of the sun itself.

They seemed to be made out of various vines and fauna that were made to look like feathers, and a few budding flowers were scattered here and there.

Puck was too busy staring in awe to even notice as his sandwich was stolen by a few small twin tailed foxes.

Kaos seemed to realize what she was doing and immediately put her wings away, coughing into her claw in embarrassment as a small dusting of pink painted her cheeks.

"A-Anyway.... Father gave life to a total of Twelve of us to help create the universe. You can call us the Twelve Primordial Dragons. Life, Death, Order, Chaos, Love, Hate, Light, Darkness, Space and Time (they were twins), Fire, and Water. And through our combined abilities, the big bang was formed and through the remnants of our power, the Gods were given life." She smiled fondly at the memory. "It was the first Gods that gave birth to the rules of the universe and it was us dragons who breathed life into the universe."

Puck was taken aback by all of this, but was somehow still able to keep up.

He just had one question, "Wait.... So if everything you're saying is true.... Then why are the Gods such.....well....dicks?!" He exclaimed with a slightly frustrated look.

Kaos giggled and smirked at Puck's look. "Those guys came much later. They're hardly even close to the first Gods. You see, as the Gods settled down in their own dimensions, us dragons and father himself kept an eye on the universe. We watched as the stars formed and gave birth to several constellations that are now recognized as the God you know of today. They're merely children, yet they have the nerve to try and seal us primordials away in these so-called 'dungeons'!" She said with an angry hiss, her eyes glowing with an unimaginable power.

Puck could only gulp and hoped that she wouldn't take her anger out in him.

But his worries were unfounded as she quickly calmed down rather quickly.

"My father was the only one who remained out of reach of their abilities, for he was still nothing but a consciousness without a body.... But seeing his children being attacked and sealed by those he wouldn't even recognize as Gods.... That caused our father to create the body you see today. Of course, he only has a mere fragment of his power in that form, but it was still more than enough to create this." She gestured to the bright vibrant world around them with a clawed hand. "The Tree of Yggdrasil! The Tree of The Beginning and End! The Tree of Life! The sanctuary of all dragons! Of course, our older sibling found all of this to be ridiculous nonsense...." She trailed off at this.

"Older sibling?" Puck asked curiously.

Kaos gave him a small sad smile, "Yes.... My beloved husband...." Puck looked slightly taken aback by this, but the dragoness quickly squashed his thoughts. "We may be siblings in name, but we actually have no blood relation whatsoever! Now if you'll excuse me...." She cleared her throat. "Bahamut.... The First Dragon King. The Dragon of Free Will, also known as the Dragon of.... Nevermind.... He was our first and eldest sibling, a prototype that our father created out of boredom....He tried to fight back against the Gods.... And failed...."

"W-What?!" Puck exclaimed with wide unbelieving eyes as he stood up. "Wouldn't that be impossible since the power scaling would be worlds apart?! What is this?! Death Battle?!"

Kaos gave Puck a thankful and understanding look, nodding. "Normally you'd be right.... But you see, giving birth to the universe took a lot out of us, and we're still in the midst of recovering.... And the Constellations had a bit of outside help.... The Old Gods.... The TRUE Old Gods that we had given birth to.... Betrayed us.... Lending their power to the Constellations, but not even that was enough to stop Bahamut.... They had to combine all of that and then some into one being.... Zeus.... The so-called 'Father of the Gods'.... With all their powers combined, they were barely able to defeat my beloved...." She sobbed softly, tearing up slightly at the memory, only to freeze for a moment as Puck placed a comforting hand on her much larger claws one.

She looked up at him and her eyes widened slightly as the sight of her departed husband appeared before her eyes for a moment, before being replaced with a pissed looking Puck.

"Don't worry, Mrs. Kaos.... I'll be sure to pay them all back for what they did...." He said with clear conviction and determination in his voice. "But that still doesn't explain how they somehow managed to seal you all! Even while severely weakened, wouldn't you and your siblings be more than enough to take on some lower classes Gods?"

Kaos quickly snapped out of her dazed look as she wiped her eyes with her wing.

"Huh?.... Oh! Yes, normally we would be.... But...." A wide demonic sneer suddenly split her maw as a crazed look appeared in her beautiful pink eyes for only a moment. "But that wouldn't be any fun, now would it?!" She exclaimed in a voice dripping with insanity, causing Puck to take a step back in surprise.

Seeing his reaction, Kaos quickly shook her head free of these thoughts. "S-Sorry! That does happen every now and again...." She said, looking down at the ground with a shameful look.

Puck simply gave a small nervous chuckle at this, scratching his cheek. "Wow....you really are your father's daughter....Hehe...."

Kaos covered her face with her clawed hands at this, trying to hide her embarrassment. "S-Shush! L-Listen! These dungeons are all fragments of different dimensions under the control of the Constellations! Got it?! So it's under their dominion, the only reason why you were able to enter this place is due to the fact that you have my father with you, and my husband's blood flowing through your veins! But you mustn't stay here for too long! Those bastards will start to get suspicious! Just remember that we dragons, even those of lower descent, are able to influence the world with merely our words! We alone are able to spin Mana like one would their very own breaths! We are the ancestors of the universe! Don't ever forget where you come from! Got it!?" She exclaimed, pouting rather cutely and childishly for a dragon that's older than space and time itself.

Puck simply gave a grin at her actions, it was like he was staring at a sibling rather than a Queen.

He went to say something rather snarky at this, only for him to stumble and fall back onto Kaos's tail, which she moved to catch him, as the world began to shake violently.

Kaos stared up into the air, a serious look on her face as a low growl escapes her throat. "Looks like we're too late...." She mumbled before whipping her head back to face Puck. "Listen, my child! You've barely even scratched the surface of your abilities! But don't just rely on your draconic lineage! Do you understand?! My father gave you this power for a reason! So don't turn your back on it! Embrace it! And show them the power of the Dragon of Free Will! I know you will do my husband proud!" She exclaimed before suddenly placing her claw on Puck's chest, while giving him a sad and loving look. "Just like you've made me...." She said softly, almost like a mother about to do something to protect her child.

Puck didn't know why, tears began to appear in his eyes and his heart began to burn and ache. "H-Huh? W-What are you talking ab-?!" He was cut off mid sentence as the floor below him fell away and he began to fall, no matter what he tried, he couldn't reach Kaos as he desperately stretched a hand towards her fading from. "W-WAIT! K-KAOS! NO!"

He desperately activated all the powers he could, but it barely made any difference as the last thing Puck saw before the hole above him was sealed was the sky above Kaos crack before shattering as hundreds of creatures began to spill into the garden.

Puck watched in horror as Kaos turned to face the incoming horde, her face twisting to one of unadulterated fury. "You bastards dare to trespass into this garden of Eden?! I'LL SEND YOU ALL TO HELL!!!" A thunderous roar accompanied this exclamation as the leader slowly excited the crack in dimensions, revealing a man dressed in all black with ominously glowing yellow eyes.

That's all Puck could see before his vision turned black as he was engulfed by the neverending abyss.

But he wasn't done.

Oh no, not by a long shot.

Puck's free fall was halted prematurely as his body began to glow a vibrant rainbow of colors before it finally landed on a vibrant golden, casting the abyss he found himself in with a blinding light.

His body was consumed in the aura of a majestic golden western style dragon with burning white eyes.

The ethereal creature reared its head back before letting out an ungodly roar that shoots the very foundation reality to its core before several cracks begin to spread out from its chest as a humongous black clawed hand suddenly erupts from its body.

A single ominously glowing red eye could be seen from the hole in the once majestic creature's chest.

When they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up out of the abyss will make war with them, and overcome them....and kill them. - "Revelation 11:7"
