Chapter 1 - Shithole

[Welcome to the Apocalypse Trials! Humans are now going to be put through evaluation on whether their existence is worthwhile. If all Humans fail to pass the trial, Humans will be forcefully put to extinction. Each Human will be in charge of establishing a Human kingdom, in a new world where Humans do not exist. Your goal is to conquer that world. Good luck Humanity!]

[Welcome to your tribe! You have started with four Humans. Each Human will have a will of their own, and if you prove ineffective as a leader they may commit mutiny. Be careful to maintain loyalty with your subjects.]

[You have awakened the AFK Gamer Talent!]

[You are able to collect resources passively, and your followers can gain EXP for doing nothing!]

What the fuck is all this... I was just pooping and then I was transported to this forest and now four random people are watching me pop a squat. I stand up, even though I didn't get the chance to wipe, and pulled my pants up before someone laughed.

Hm, these games usually have like a status right?

As I thought of it, a screen popped up before my eyes.

[Nickname : Star Forged

Level: 1

Status: Tribe Leader

Number of Subjects: 4]

It was incredibly simple, but I guess thats to be expected since this isn't about me. It's about being a leader. I looked at my subjects, there were two men two women.

"What can I call you all?" I asked, looking at the four people who were just standing around idle.

"I am Matthew, sir." a tall blonde man said.

"I go by Rob." the second brown haired man said.

"Nadia." a woman with long blonde hair said.

"Evangeline, sir." the last woman with blue eyes and red hair said. She had long curly hair that seemed like a lot to manage, but it looked great.

I then saw four translucent screens show up, showing their information.

[Matthew

Level: 1

Loyalty: 80]

[Rychter

Level: 1

Loyalty: 0]

[Nadia

Level: 1

Loyalty: 0]

[Evangeline

Level: 1

Loyalty: 100]

From this, I already felt two headaches begin to form. Rob lied about his name, and Nadia just doesn't have any Loyalty for me. I would deal with them as time went on, but for now I needed them. Two extra hands would help tremendously.

"We will look for a nearby water source, and make our camp relatively near there. For now we will stick together, since we do not know what creatures are in this forest. We could very well be at the bottom of the food chain." as I said this, I began to walk in a random direction. Mathew and Evangeline followed me, but the other two stood in place.

"Shouldn't we follow him?" Nadia asked Rychter.

"Juat watch, he will come back. He only has four followers, he needs us." Rychter said with confidence. He had a smug look on his face as he stood with his arms crossed, watching his foolish tribe leader walking away.

However after they got out of sight, Rychter and Nadia became restless. Were they really going to leave them here?

They quickly began to race after the group, but they couldn't find them. They began to panic when they couldn't find the group of three after an hour of running, where could they have gone.

"You idiot! I thought you said he needed us! He left us behind like trash! He must have known you were lying! You stupid idiot why did I follow someone as useless as you!" Nadia yelled, exasperated at Rychter. He had told her some sweet words when they arrived. They were all from different worlds, and were told by a voice in their heads that a leader would soon be sent there to lead the human race to prosperity. Rychter tried to convince everyone to betray the leader, and become the leader himself. Matthew and Evangeline ignored him, while Nadia was the only one who believed him.

While Nadia and Rychter were arguing, I was standing nearby in the trees. Matthew and Evangeline had found a suitable campsite almost immediately after we left, so I told them to clear the ground and collect wood while I handled these two. I then followed them, staying out of their sight, and listened to them argue.

From their conversations, it seemed that the people came from different worlds, and that I was in charge of them. So these people all had pasts, they weren't mindless. Which meant they would all have different personalities, which would also make it harder to manage them.

I followed these two, because I genuinely did need them, however I needed them to think I didn't care. I slowly came out of the woods, acting natural.

"Oh, it's you two. I was just looking for somewhere to use the bathroom." I said, walking past them again.

As I walked by, Nadia desperately began speaking.

"I'm sorry for our foolishness, we were distracted and got separated from the group! It is by good fortune we were able to run into you again, can you show us the way to the others?"

"Hm, is that so? I figured you both were leaving the group, and I don't know if I can bring you back with me. Truthfully, two people who are so stupid that they can't see three people walking away after their leader gives instructions, sound useless to me." I said, looking at the two with disdain.

"I-I-... can we try and start over? I think we got off on the wrong foot..." Nadia said, Rychter had been silent the whole time but he had a sour look on his face. he didn't like that a person who looked like a High School student was talking down to him.

"Hm... Okay. If it was just a momentary lapse in focus, I can overlook it. Let's reintroduce ourselves. What are your names again?" I asked reaching my hand out.

"My name is Nadia, sir..." and shook my hand.

"My name is Rob..." However when Rychter went to shake my hand, I took it back.

"It seems I only need her. Let's go, Nadia." I said, and turned my back to leave. Nadia looked confused, but she ultimately decided to follow me into the forest.

"Wait! Why are you taking her and not me?!" Rychter frantically shouted out.

"You've had two opportunities. Do you take me for a fool who will welcome someone with open arms when they lie to me? Rychter." a bomb fell onto Rychter. He thought he was smarter than me, but he had only been telling himself that he must be better than whoever the voice brought.

"H-How did you know my name?"

"You think they just brought some random person to be your leader? You think you're the only group of people who have been brought to this world? You don't think. That's the problem. You wanted to be the leader so bad, but failed to realize what would happen after you took over. You would fail. Because you lack the capacity to do anything more than being a worker. So I don't need someone who can't even listen, much less lead. Die here in this forest. You are finally the leader of your own group. Congrats." and I walked off after that. Leaving him in the forest, alone.

Nadia was silent the entire way back, because she realized I knew the truth, and this was a message:

I will leave you if you're not useful or trustworthy.
