Kaden lay on the ground for a moment, trying to regain his senses. The ringing in his ears slowly subsided, and he could feel the cool ground against his back. The palpable sense of danger had receded. The statue now stood silent and unmoving.
He let out a sigh. His nose throbbed painfully, blood smeared on his face. He wiped it away, his eyes darting to the dull and pale white rock that lay a few meters away from him. The damn rock that seemed to have triggered all this mayhem.
Sitting up slowly, Kaden assessed his surroundings. The chamber was still. The yellow barrier was nowhere to be seen.
"Why is it always the random things that cause the most trouble?" he muttered under his breath.
His minions gathered around him, some limping, others with visible bruises. They looked to him for guidance, awaiting their next move. Kaden first dismissed them.
