Chapter 12 - Offer of a deal and secret out

After a long day at work Amada came home. A villa with a high level of security.

This villa is second most secured place in the city after the police headquarters.

Amada changed into casual clothes and sat on her bed.

Despite being 75-year-old, she looks like a woman in her mid-forties.

Amada went to the mirror and looked at her injury.

A deep scar of operated line started from stomach and went all the way to a part of her right arm.

The assassin knew that he won't be able to kill her in one strike so he used his blade to cut from her stomach to right arm. In hopes of disabling her fighting power but Amada killed him anyway.

The assassin died but he managed to disable her right arm. She can't fight at her peek anymore.

Besides she is aging. Her body can't keep up with intense fighting anymore.

If there is anything all mortals share is decay. Your body and mind will slowly decay until you die.

Despite the existence of healers her wound can't be healed. Because her old body isn't capable of healing.

Amada sighed and went back to her bed.

She lay on her bed looking at the roof.

Suddenly she felt a strange feeling.

She slowly frowned.

Whoosh!

A rapid blow of air flew into the room. But the windows were closed.

Amada immediately got up and summoned her sword. From thin air a black red great sword immerged.

She immediately pressed the emergency button.

The air stopped and a red black envelope floated in the air.

She didn't dare let her guard down or grab the envelope. So she waited for security to come.

After a few seconds guards rushed into the room.

All they saw was Amada standing with her sword drawn and a falling envelope.

Still they surrounded her to protect her from attacks from all around.

Time passed slowly… but nothing happened.

"Mam the search has been completed. Not a single unidentified soul was detected in the mansion. We will keep it in the lockdown until further notice."

Amada nodded.

"Notify me if anything is detected."

She stared at the envelope. It was probably a message delivered to her.

Still she did not relax because there could be a curse on it.

She told one of her guards to pick it up.

He put on strange mask and gloves with runic formations on it.

He picked it up.

In the meanwhile, an elven mage came in to the room. He performed a few cleansing spells on the letter.

After making sure everything was ok, he handed the letter to her.

Amada opened the letter. What she saw made her eyes open wide.

"Delivering drugs to all the disabled patients. Ok maybe not all but come to living room at 1 am.

- Colorless Rainbow"

Letter contained a single line. However, the things communicated were a lot.

There is an unknown group in the shadows. They know she is injured. They also know how to solve it. Even giving her a time of meeting.

The delivery of letter is their show of strength. If they can deliver letter in her room, then they can also kill her in her own room.

Amada took this very seriously. She glanced at the clock. It was 1 and a half hours before 2 am. She handed the letter to the mage.

"Find out anything and everything you can about this group in 1 hour."

"As you wish mam."

"Lockdown the mansion and do a thorough search. Maintain high alert and gather most of the force inside the living room."

The security started their work. They locked the mansion air tight, did thermal and magic scans all around. Everybody stayed on high alert.

Amada sat on the couch in the living room. She was still holding her greatsword.

She was thinking of the encounter of letter.

If the deliverer was a person then he might be inside the mansion right now. If not, then his speed of escape is very high.

In former case he would be found by the searching of guards. In case of latter, he won't be able to get back in. If he does so anyway then they will know from where because mansion is now on high alert.

In case of magic delivery by an elf, the reasoning of coming to living room does not make sense. If they wanted to carry out a deal they would ask to meet at a secluded place where they may have a bit of security.

Making a deal through magic communication is also a possibility. But the mansion is right now in magic lock state. No magic from outside can enter. Besides this type of deal is very ineffective and insecure. You need some sort of trusted messenger or else you may get scammed due to limitations of magic.

Either way she is a bit interested in the deal. Even if it is a trap. For her injury even a bit of hope counts.

She kept speculating. An hour passed and elf returned with info of colorless rainbow… and some terrible news.

"What! The news is released!"

The news of her injury got released.

"WHEN?!"

"A-about 2 days ago."

She frowned hard after knowing that.

Her injury is a well-kept secret. Only a few know about it. And all are trustworthy. But the news is out. Her enemies are planning her demise each moment she is breathing. Only difference is she is now vulnerable.

She stared threateningly at the mage.

"Leave!"

The elf bowed and left.

She also made all bodyguards leave the living room. Right now she cannot trust anyone. Everyone looks like an enemy.

This is a point where she is very close to despair. But there is still a hope.

She took a deep breath and ordered the security to turn off all surveillance of the living room. She also used a personal console in the living room to double check the security status.

Now she is even more resolute about making this deal.

She clutched her last line of defense and waited for the last half hour to pass.
