Kai scoffed and paused in his steps. He couldn't understand Dallan and the perfect mate the goddess gave him. Why did it seem that both of them always saw themselves as mismatched?
"Hazel, you are a good fit for him," he said in assurance. "I have been noticing some changes in him since you came. That is a good sign."
"What changes?" Hazel still looked skeptical about the entire arrangement. "I haven't noticed anything in him."
"You just met him some days ago. You wouldn't know if he changed or not." He continued walking, this time taking the back of the houses. Hazel recognized the mass of vegetation at the front. That was the back of Dallan's quarters—and the garden.
They walked there in silence.
Hazel knew there was a great amount of fire in Dallan. She felt it in him. And that was one of the reasons she always loved to irk him to see what level he could go when mad.
