Leaving the restaurant, Yang Chen didn't head straight back to the office. Instead, he wandered aimlessly along Zhongnan Street, his mind occupied with nothing in particular. He simply felt uneasy. Slowly dragging his feet, he bought two packs of cheap tobacco and smoked until he felt somewhat relieved.
Yang Chen didn't feel like he had done anything wrong, nor did he believe he had done anything right. Not everything in the world had a clear right or wrong, especially when it came to matters of the heart. Whether you hurt others or sacrificed for them, it was hard to say.
As the sky darkened, Yang Chen called home to inform Mrs. Wang that he wouldn't be coming home for dinner. Then he drove towards Mo Qianni's place as planned.
As if it were arranged in advance, when Yang Chen parked his car downstairs from Mo Qianni's apartment, her red Audi also happened to arrive home.
