Mo Qian'ni's family home was a quaint two-story wooden structure. The walls were entwined with ivy, creating a lush green facade. A small courtyard lay out front, home to a chicken coop and a patch of land where onions and garlic were cultivated.
As they entered, Ma Guifang, Mo Qian'ni's mother, quickly attended to Yang Chen. "Son-in-law, you're all wet. Better dry off and change into some clean clothes. Tonight, you can sleep in the room on the second floor, on the east side."
"Mom," Mo Qian'ni interjected anxiously, "I'll sleep with you tonight."
She was clearly embarrassed at the thought of sharing a room with Yang Chen, especially since their relationship hadn't progressed that far yet.
Ma Guifang chided her with a laugh, "What nonsense! You're both adults now; it's not appropriate for you to sleep with your mother."
