Li Jing had enough of her mother's nonsense. Her frustration was evident in the way her brows furrowed deeply. "Mom, I can't deal with this right now." Li Jing needed to get away from her mother and cool off. She knew she would regret it if she said something harsh to her mother.
With that she turned around and stormed towards the stairs, ignoring Zhang Mei's nervous voice calling her name. "Jin..." Zhang Mei tried to follow her, but she was too slow and clumsy. She tripped over the rug and stumbled, almost falling down. Zhang Mei watched helplessly as Li Jing's angry back disappeared into her room.
A loud slam echoed through the house, signaling that Li Jing had shut the door behind her.
Zhang Mei closed her eyes, feeling a wave of guilt and exhaustion wash over her. She couldn't even blame her daughter for being mad at her. She could only blame herself for being so distracted that she had forgotten about her daughter's needs and feelings.
