Chapter 19 - What a SURPRISE!

"You can be a very kind person sometimes, hmm?"

"Sure."

"Well, that's all I wanted to say, bye-bye." She said as she was heading towards the female changing room whilst I headed to the male changing room.

In the midst of changing back to my school uniform, Mitsuki approached me too but this time, he wasn't his usual self.

"So what were you two talking about?"

"With who?"

"Don't play dumb with me. You think I didn't see you talking with that hot chick. Very slick I see." He said whilst bobbing his head up and down and holding his chin as if comprehending something.

"You mean Sayumi?"

"Sayumi. So that's her name. Its pretty nice."

"You bet it is."

"You two seemed as if you were awfully close."

"Close? Nah, that's how she is. She's just friendly."

"But I'm still interested with what you were talking about though."

"'Sigh'. It was nothing in particular, just some random talk."

"Is that all it was?"

I had my suspicions at first but with that, I had already connected all the dots.

"You asking me as if you like her." I decided to surprise him.

"That's because I do."

'I KNEW IT.'

'WAIT…WHAT!!? HE AGREED THAT EASILY?'

I was lost since I'm the one whose caught off guard.

"Good for you." I meant it in good faith.

"Thanks man. Well, I just thought that since I knew your secret, it was better to share mine with you as well to make it even."

'He's dumb but he's a good guy.'

"Oh, my secret…yeah…my secret." I was lost in thought for a moment.

"Since she's your classmate, think you could introduce me to her?"

"Sure, why not. I'll introduce you both at the perfect time."

It's not like I have any reason to refuse. Plus, since she has an everybody's-friend persona to her, it won't be that difficult.

Thinking back on everything that's been happening till now I've realized something.

I have absolutely nothing.

Like, I have done absolutely nothing in particular.

All this time has been pointless thoughts about love this, love that. Crush this, crush that, front, back, left, right and center.

No goals. Average talents. Uninteresting life. What else?

I'm just living. That's all.

But it's all good though.

Just being able to live like a normal person is enough for me.

I don't need to shine bright.

I don't have to do anything out of the ordinary.

I just need to live normally like any other normal human being out there.

Because truly by being normal, that's when I can truly say I'm the protagonist of my life.

And anything that will trigger my emotions is of bad influence to me.

The next day after our homeroom lessons, during lunch whilst I was busy enjoying the reverie of my deliciously homemade lunch which I don't forget anymore, ahh, I should become a chef with this godlike cooking, Sayumi just suddenly moved her desk close to mine.

No, its safe to say she combined them.

"What're you doing?"

"Exactly what it seems." She beamed at me.

I didn't even have the energy in me to retort back so I just let her sit next to me as she took out her lunch. When she opened it, a very addictive aroma wafted through the whole atmosphere which made me question my deliciously homemade…

I don't think its delicious anymore compared to this. Nevertheless, I ignored it as hard as I could as I continued munching on my deliciously not-deliciously food.

She clapped her hands and…

"Thank you for the food."

'That wasn't really necessary.'

I could not help but take a small peek at what it was that was definitely attracting my nostrils and I couldn't be surprised more.

It definitely was an appetizing meal.

Very appetizing!

But what was even more attractive was the person herself. The way she delicately handled the food would make many people just kill to see her eating which was definitely attracting a lot of unwanted attention.

The piercing stares coming from both genders especially the guys were enough to counterattack this brief blissful moment.

Whilst being preoccupied about the discomfort I felt from the stares, I was unconsciously still looking at her and she gave yet another drop-dead gorgeous beam at me which made me catch whispers of ecstasy but to me, this was just terribly annoying.

Attention is the last thing I needed right now.

"Why are you eating right beside my desk? There are many desks in this class." I asked the obvious expected question which was on my mind.

"Oh. Am I not allowed to eat anywhere I want?"

I find it infuriating when someone answers my question with another question.

"Its just unusual to see you eating seating next to me."

"Then you should be thrilled. Aren't you happy that a cute girl is sitting next to you." Still beaming.

"Its an honor and such a pain since you're attracting people's attention to me."

"You can just ignore them instead of thinking too much about it."

'THIS GIRL!'

'Excuse me, we receive different kinds of stares due to our status difference.'

"Could you please move your desk a bit further? This is seriously making me uncomfortable."

Not to be a pussy or anything but I was honest as I was saying this.

"Request denied. I want to sit here."

"Fine. Have it your way."

I stood up then distanced my desk and myself a little from her, even if the bloodlust from the background increased by that action. I felt bad doing this but I didn't want any problems with anyone and just wanted my peace alone.

"That's so mean." She pouted with a slight hint of tears at the corners of her eyes which was obviously cute by the way as she reflexively stood up.

Unfortunately, even if I made things worse, this cheerful classmate of mine thought it was funny and once again, fused the separate desks into one.

Or that's what I thought she was going to do but she did way worse than that.

Instead, since the seat right in front of me was vacant, Sayumi walked to it and turned it around to face me and sat across making us face each other on the same desk.

To add salt to injury, she leaned from where she was to take her lunch which was on the other desk making me catch a whiff of her feminine scent and perfume. I was caught by surprise which made me react a little by a slight reaction, but I quickly dismissed all evil thoughts away as it was natural reaction.

At least I think so.

"Hehe~. That's cute."

THUMP!!!

'WHAT?!'

I almost choked on my mediocre homemade food but luckily, I had juice which saved me from what she just said. Did I hear that correctly?

"Wh…" I wanted to react to what she just said but I failed with the result being my lips trembling non-stop.

To make matters worse, I could feel my body getting warmer and that's when I realized…

I was in GRAVE DANGER!

No. I need to be strong. This isn't enough to faze me.

I turned to look at her and by accident, we made eye contact as she was staring at me whilst grinning and I could not help but be lost in her attractive silver eyes for a moment.

Shit! She is bad for my heart!

"Excuse me, I'm gonna use the bathroom." I said as I stood up and dashed out the classroom forgetting that I was having lunch. I even forgot about the intense stares.

This is a situation I have to correct with immediate effect.

If I continue to have emophilia, I get the feeling that I might die prematurely.

I washed my face in the restroom in order to cool down and calm my thoughts. Come to think of it, that's how she got me the first time and I misinterpreted the signs but she never came this hard like she did today.

Just what's wrong with her? That was one heck of a low blow. No normal guy would remain unfazed if they were called cute by a girl. Especially a cute one like her at that.

But I don't need this type of stress.

Sigh.

After lamenting some useless thoughts for some time, I returned to class as soon as lunch break was over. But I've never felt an atmosphere as deadly as this one I was currently facing as I entered the class.

It felt as if I was a lone sheep in a wolves pack.

So with careful steps, I went back to my seat.

"What took you so long?" Sayumi asked as she had already returned her table right to its original place.

"That's none of your concern."

"You've become unexpectedly rude you know that."

"Thank you for informing me."

And with that our conversation ended as we carried on with our lessons.
