Chapter 487 - 6. Chained To The Rhythm.

Bran was worried. The straps were only 45, and Samuel and Colin were still hours away.

He went to call again, and Samuel said, " Da, now I can't do anything while I'm on the plane, you understand? I'll be there as fast as I can, but Mimi has one human colleague who might help. I think his name was Will, but I don't know. Put some more sugar on and keep her warm. The medicine cabinets have personal keys and are burglar-proof. It is not good that she has been metalized for weeks and months, and that is one thing that stresses the straps. But you can't do anything about that just yet. Yes, she is in bad shape. I saw those results, but you can't do anything about that. "

Samuel gave his father some more instructions and leaned back on the bench. He was beyond frustrated and once again; the pack had decided to show Mimi her place, and this was always to result. When will they learn? With those results, he had been again almost horrified because that girl was a mess and a terrible mess. He was trying to come up treatment plan in his mind so once he would be there, it would be swiftly done and that poor girl would get little better.

Bran came over and put more sugar in the drip and gave blankets. He looked at me, quite worried. He sat next to me and touched me, stroked me even though I was bundled up like a burrito, more or less.

He said, "Samuel is already on the plane with maybe 8-10 hours to go, but you had a human colleague who could also treat supernaturals, Will. Samuel just said about him. Colin is here less than five hours. "

I smiled. Will is a hothead. I said, "Yeah, Will is a competent guy, but he won't last in any job when he doesn't follow protocols. He is one of those fleas that I talked about earlier. He wants to save everyone without caring how it's supposed to be done, and Will is, therefore, quite often at the fleas, to help. He's got some meds on hand, but I don't know if they'll work for me. He has helped me before in a few European gigs and in a few botched missions. I am not sure if he has any metal binders with him, but he would need blood tests taken. He will see those results in here, and you can dictate those values to him. I did not take metal tests yet."

I gave Bran the number of Will and a couple of other medical fleas, so he'd have something to do. I could feel the stimulant effect of the caffeine and sugar starting to wear off, a sign that I was running out of steam. It was no longer cold, and I knew I might not stay awake much longer.

I leaned tiredly onto the bed. I wanted to fall asleep. Just let go. The pain was not so bad anymore, meaning I was going down the drain so to speak and my mind was still damn muddled by those drugs and trauma and shock that just could not see what was the worst thing that threaten my straps. What would make me endure? Nothing came to mind.

Bran returned and said, "Colin will be here in three hours, and Will said he'd be here in half an hour. He is taking chelators with him, so we'll see if they can help. Just hang in there a bit longer. I told him the results that we got. He is taking what he has with him."

I nodded and said, "It's not cold anymore. My temp is pretty low, as well as my blood pressure. You'll have to get me up to the incubator soon, and I don't know how much longer I can stay awake. My strength is apparently running out. "

Bran went pale and said, "Now try to hold on for half an hour. Let's see Will first. He can help you and then two and a half hours so Colin can get here. Not yet giving up, young lady."

He came over to me, took my hand, and said, "You're so damn cold already, but I'm going to try to stabilize you with a little bit of marrok power. It won't work miracles, but it will give you time, and you'll be conscious. In the past, I could heal my wolves with this power, but all the things that I have done, I guess they corrupt the power or something. Now let's get you a little more alert or try to hold on until Will and Colin get here and if they permit you to sleep, then you can sleep."

I nodded. I felt the power of the marrok and let it do whatever it was doing. It felt like a warm breeze was blowing over me, making me a little calmer and maybe a little less painful, but I held on, trying to stay awake.

Then Bran's phone beeped.

He looked at it, stood up, and said, "Will is here. Let's see what he can do."

He walked away, quite fast too. I was so freaking tired, my vision was almost blurry. I tried to stay awake, not sure why I needed to stay awake. I was so confused as well.

Bran walked to the door and opened it. A tall, thin, red-haired man introduced himself.

Bran said, "Mimi is in really terrible shape. She has 15 straps on her right now. She wants to sleep, I have been giving her marrok power, but it is not really working as well as I had hoped. "

Will nodded and said, "Well. let's go to see the lady. I see what I can do."

He tried to talk calmly, tried to get Bran a little more out of his panic.

Will arrived after Bran, a tall, thin man with red hair who always seemed to be in a good mood. He came to me; he was wearing scrubs already, and he had an enormous bag with him.

He said, "You're in pretty wild shape. Let's see what we can do first. Did you have any scanning results or what? My lady, you will need some serious work on you."

Bran said," Here are the results of that scan. She made me install a feeding button on herself and she has now had visceral mush for 16 hours already. "

Will nodded as he went to the computers. Bran showed the result on the computer, and Will looked through it seriously.

He knew the basics of my physiology because, on a couple of gigs, I had always had to take a bit of help. Then he went through the cupboards and drawers and collected the supplies. And rummaged through his bag and took something from there, too. I was getting so damn tired and just wanted to go to sleep. This was quite warm, but the incubator seemed almost safe to me, almost. I wanted to go there to rest. I was not in the mood really care much about anything.

Will came over to me and said, "Miss, first an adrenaline drip. We need to get your blood pressure up, then I'll get you a better vascular connection and give you some medicine that will probably help a little. And then some more blood tests to see what metals you have and how we can get them out of you. They are one thing that stresses your body."

He hung a bag in drip tray with the centrifugal fluid he'd put a generous amount of adrenaline in and gave me a shot of the same stuff first. Fine, then, not yet asleep. He took out the bump and sugar solution, well they were almost empty anyway.

He cannulated my central line, and Bran watched watchfully by the side. I just thought I must be a bit short of straps because Bran had a bit of a watchful look on his face. Then Will put in an adrenaline drip and more fluids. He took about 30 tubes of blood, put them in analyzers, and came back to me next.

He felt my stomach and took out my visceral fluid and also the feeding tube. He was very gentle with me, trying to keep Bran, who was about to panic, calm too.

I said, " Why did you do that? It could be useful. I have had it for hours already. There is Damon's blood in it, so it might heal."

Will said, " Because digestion uses up energy, which you have little to share right now. You're still on so many drugs, you probably don't think about every single thing. Your injuries are that bad that amount of blood is not gonna do anything plus you've got an ungodly infection, which I think is on the sepsis side, and that's another problem, but I'm not taking you up to the incubator yet, not until Colin gets here. He'll have to look you over. But for now, I'm just going to give you fluids and adrenaline and a couple of other kinds of sugar concentrate. And see those test results. I will not put any binders in yet. Coilin can look them over. I will not make you any worse."

Bran sat next to me and gave another shot of marrok power, and then he sighed as his phone rang. He went elsewhere to talk. I was feeling so damn sleepy and Will came and gave me another shot of adrenaline. He had looked at some results of my blood tests already.

He said, "No beryllium, that good, lots of others, but Colin is here soon so he can see if my chelators can work on you, they are made to work to supernatural."

After a while, Bran and Colin came to the medbay and Will explained his findings to Colin first. I felt sleepy again and thought, now Colin is here, I can go to sleep. Adrenaline did not work long anymore. Colin perused those prints fast, keeping his expression neutral. Will showed him several bags, and he chose quite many of them. Will took the drip rack and started to put those on there already.

They didn't talk for long when Colin looked at me sharply and came to me. He picked up his bag and started digging out the bottles again.

He said, " Remember, I'm going to put these in your mouth again. Just let them soak in. We get soon metals bind, at least some of them, and get you on the road of recovery."

I said, "Now I'm going to sleep. I'm so damn tired, I should probably go to the incubator. I am out of everything, adrenaline won't keep me going anymore very long time. "

Colin said, " Don't go to sleep just yet. Let's have some drops and see you through. You'll get to sleep, missy; there's no question about it, but it's better to be awake now. Now, just stay awake."

He began to brush various drops on the inside of my cheeks and gums, looking at me carefully. His expression was quite tight. He was clearly trying to be calmer than he was. He was trying not to scare me, but I am a doctor so I have little instinct and besides, my pretender side spots these things.

I said, "I think we're running out of straps, aren't we? Bran is a bit nervous. And so are you, too."

Colin smiled tightly and said, " Don't worry about anything and just take it easy. Everything will be fine. I got you, you missy don't worry about those straps at all, just hold on. "

I had told Bran about all the things Damon did to me in the shed, and then he had gone to vomit somewhere in between. Well, he's the one who's always shoving me in there. Will came next to me and put those bags to drip, Colin looked through those speeds that liquid was dropping into my veins.

Colin brushed drops into my mouth several times. Will was there and kept my drip going, and gave me an adrenaline shot, and then Samuel arrived. They again had a little chat while Bran sat next to my bed and gave the marrok power, little shots of it.

Samuel opened the medicine cabinets, and the three doctors started rummaging around in there, cursing because there wasn't everything. I had already several bags dripping into me, adrenaline and binders, sugars, and I just feel so damn powerless and finished, utterly limp and wanting to just sleep.

Samuel came over to me and said, "Are you feeling wise now?"

I smiled and said, "They won't let me go to sleep. I'm tired, I'm exhausted, I'm more than exhausted, and no, no one is going to put me in an incubator to rest. I am utterly spent, no more than nothing that I can use to keep me going. "

Samuel said, " Let's see if we can get you a little more stable, and then you'll be fine because you, my lady, like to drop your straps hard before something always helps. We have binders going on the whole time, and let's see if they can help a little with your straps."

They put more different drugs in the drip and kept me awake with adrenaline. Bag after bag was hung and my condition proved little. I was beginning to be almost delirious and seeing things; I was so damn tired. Bran had gone somewhere. I had no sense of how many days or hours it had been.

Finally, Samuel said, "We'll have to put her in an incubator if it's going to help at all."

Colin nodded and said, "This is a damn tight fight, and hope that rest will help at all. She is worst shape ever, no wonder after 12 weeks in the shed."

Samuel was silent. He and Colin went to get Mimi and carried her into the incubator to rest. For how long, they had no idea.

They lifted me into the incubator, and Samuel said, "Now you can rest. Don't worry about anything. Just rest."

I closed my eyes, and I fell asleep.
