Chapter 425 - 24. Honey, Honey.

Charles called Magnum and Colin on the way. Colin was free, and he promised to start gathering supplies. Charles gave them the address of Kansas Castle. Charles, also called Samuel, and he cursed long and hard. Both men didn't understand what Damon was after with this torture. It had not been a very wise thing to do, knowing Mimi, but Damon would learn his work did not bring Mimi closer to him at all. Samuel knew that this was Bran's fault, he had some kind part of this and it was time for him to learn as well.

Samuel said he would be on the next flight. He suggested the Chicago house, but Charles didn't want Mimi anywhere where Damon or Bran could come at her. Samuel said that he would then load his van from Chicago before arriving so they would have a lot of supplies and they could make medbay ready for the future, too. Samuel was not surprised as Charles told him how Bran was on this whole thing and Samuel apologized to Charles because he had thought also from the beginning that they had had an affair. Damon had attacked and tortured Mimi for over two months. Ten weeks, all because he was helping Mimi.

When Charles had told Samuel where he had been helping Mimi, how that house was not ready, and how hard Mimi had defended Damon's behavior to him. Samuel had realized how lonely Mimi had been, wanting to do things in the pack, but they were having a party or no one was interested, and then when Mimi had gotten company, a blowup had been imminent.

Samuel swore in his mind to be a little more open-minded and not go with Bran's suggestions so easily. He had too noticed his father's bad habits and not-so-noble ideas. His father had lost little humanity that he once had, and Samuel was not so sure that he would ever get it back.

When Charles ended the call, he started to think about what to do first. Why this had happened? Damon himself had married several women and divorced Mimi, and Charles didn't understand. Now Mimi smelled strongly of some kind of sedatives and strong ones, had infections, and her general condition was extremely fragile.

Mimi had been tortured for over ten weeks and Damon knew what he was doing. He had the best knowledge about Mimi's body and its functions, so he had been the ultimate destroyer of what had come to break Mimi apart. Charles knew about straps, but he could not see them. But he could sense that Mimi was in a critical state.

The spirits that were with him almost all the time, whispered to him, telling him to hurry up, telling him how she was in bad shape, how it would be his honor to get Mimi in shape, spirits did not understand so well everything and Charles didn't try to teach them anymore, he had gotten used to them, they could be useful, but then again they were a kind of naïve what came to love and relationships and they didn't understand why love was not strongest force in the universe for all the couples.

He tried to drive as fast as he could so he could get Mimi in some place a little more comfortable than a sports bag. They had some kind of medbay in the castle, not perfect, not at all, but it gave some hope for Charles, as he knew that Colin was on his way soon enough and he would have something to do with him already.

Mimi had shown him where to find contact list of supplies for medical tech too as it had been one of her idea to fix up best damn medbay here, so Charles knew where he could order and he had also one of Mimi's debit cards that he could use.

How could someone do this to another in the name of love? That was what Charles did not understand. Charles was the first to arrive, and he carried Mimi gently to the medbay they made together. Charles placed the sports bag on one of the beds and opened it completely.

Medbay was not finished. There were all sorts of big equipment, but none had been installed yet. There were several patient beds very comfortable, and a lot of meds that Mimi had gotten through the fleas, meds her too. There were dressings, and wound care supplies, but Charles was not going to do anything to Mimi yet, not until he heard about Colin or Samuel. One of them could give him some instructions if necessary, but not yet, was not the time to act, at least not for him.

There were scales built in the bed and Charles could see that the number was a pitiful 15 kilos. 15 kilos. Amazing, and she was still alive and moving. Mimi was in a ball, shaking, and didn't seem to know Charles. When Charles very carefully lifted Mimi out of the bag, he saw that Mimi's arm was broken in at least two places, and in one place, a bone had come through the skin. Mimi's bones feel extremely brittle. Mimi's pulse was weak, her irregular breathing even worse. Mimi was hot and feverish, and her skin was cold in some places. It was like no blood would go in everywhere. She was shaking wildly, moaning pitifully, and not properly awake even.

Charles tucked Mimi in and put the sides up. He talked in a soft, calm voice, trying to keep his wolf calm. He felt strange. His wolf, brother Wolf wanted to claim this female right there and then and make a nest for her. Charles had never gotten nesting instinct with Anna and it took a lot out of him not to let his wolf come out, bite Mimi, mark her as their mate, and go and nest with her. Mimi needed care, and a nest was not an option right now. Charles's phone beeped. It was a text message for Colin who had Magnum with him. They were on their way.

"Mimi, I don't know if you understand, but Colin and Magnum are coming to help, and so is Samuel. Hold on, honey, just for a little while. I don't dare do much to you yet until the doctors arrive, but hang on, honey. Can you tell me anything about what Damon did to you?"

Charles waited a moment, no answer. He left Mimi in the hospital bed and kept the lights dim. He knew how unpredictable a wounded werewolf could be. Mimi would probably be better off sleeping, but what medicine would work? What's that damn strong medicine, or medicines that stink in Mimi?

Charles went to the front door to keep watch. He was restless and paced back and forth outside before Magnum, and Colin drove into the yard at the same time. Colin picked up a couple of sports bags, and Charles saw that his big four-wheel-drive car was loaded onto the roof. But now he only took one bag, to begin with.

Magnum stepped out of his car and came closer, too. He asked, "What's the situation? Anything I can help with?"

Colin nodded and said, "I need to see her first, but every pair of hands is needed in taking care of her, I suspect, she has an infection and I can tell you she is not an easy patient, she will move so we will have to pick her up the floor, so Magnum you get to be a nurse too and learn a lot of medical stuff along the way, now you had some drugs here already but Charles, you said she stinks of drugs."

Charles nodded. He said, "I have contact list where to order more stuff and debit card so if anything is missing express order will get it here just two days." Colin nodded, his expression was tight.

Colin said, " What you said, Mimi needs to sleep. I need to sniff out the drugs to know what I can safely give. Has she said anything?"

Charles said, "No. I left her in the hospital bed; her arm was broken in two places, and one bone was through the skin. She feels very fragile and weighs well under 20 kilos. The scales showed 15 kilos."

Magnum whistled low. Colin was calm, but the muscles in his cheek moved, revealing his tension and anger, too. He did not like that Mimi was always the one who ended up in this state.

Colin said, "Let's go and see the patient. She might be confused because of all the drugs. You know Salvatore likes to use a lot of different drugs. And then all the substances that he makes out from his teeth complicate things even further."

Charles opened the door and men stepped in. Medbay was on the first floor and they had not yet made an operating theatre there.

I got up. I got out of bed. Damn sides, but they weren't gonna stop me. It wasn't the same place, where passionfruit had been hurting me but I was looking for hiding places. No, I hear sounds, must attack. Any kind of weapon. A knife. I took the big knife Charles had used to cut the carpet off one table and was ready. My rage was on full display, and I was ready to attack. Then the men came into view. I took a few steps, and let my rage burn bright in my gaze.

Magnum walked ahead, went through the medbay door, and stopped. Mimi stood in the middle of the room, naked, like the skeleton, holding one big knife and Magnum remembered that expression from one of Sark's institutes. Now this would not be a simple thing to do. Mimi was full of wounds. Her other arm dangled by her side and Magnum could see bones peeking through. She was a walking skeleton, but extremely dangerous. Magnum could see also Mimi's fangs bared and if he knew her at all, she would be full of poisons.

" Hey, whoa. Now, hey, back off, we got a little situation going on here. We have to think this through," He said in a soft voice, motioning men to back away from the door.

Charles said, "What situation?"

Magnum replied grimly, " I've seen Mimi in this state once before, and it took a Salvatore to get Mimi under control. In the medical establishment, it was one of the medical establishments in Chicago where Damon sold Mimi and had no recollection of it. That was probably Damien who sold her. Mimi was in the same state. Now, she doesn't recognize any of us. She's attacking us as hard and as unpredictable as she can."

Magnum swallowed once. Something in Mimi's expression had scared the shit out of him. He continued to tell his story, nevertheless.

"Mimi was in pretty damn awful shape even then, bullet wounds and all, and didn't even notice when somebody fired. Damon told me he's got it in Mimi's head that he's a safety. He's the one you can trust. Mimi got closer to Damon, and still, Mimi sliced Damon's chest almost open before Damon got control of her. Now I don't even know what method Damon used or what, but he had to hold on pretty damn tight before he got control of Mimi properly. He just went and grabbed Mimi in his grip, and then he slammed Mimi into the cage. Mimi was not calm at all. She screamed and fought, but Damon got a scalpel out of her hand, so she was unarmed."

Magnum looked at both of the men as he thought things through in his mind.

"I don't know if that's going to do any good either, and catching her. I have noticed that Mimi's rage is such that it almost pushes through any drug or medicine. Now, I don't know how to get Mimi under control. She is weak, but that knife is sharp and she is fast. We'll probably have to attack all three of them at the same time." His voice was grim.

Charles thought for a moment and said, "No. She'll just panic more. I want to see if I can get a hold of Mimi and see if I can get her to settle down at all. If I can, then I guess some medicine would work. She is weak, and I do not smell like Damon. I guess Mimi is now scared of the smell of passionfruit, one thing that Damon did not take an account at all. With me, Mimi had been always calm. I had rescued her, so she might not see or smell me as the enemy. Now, do you have strong enough drugs to knock her out?"

Colin thought for a moment and said, " I guess so, but where the hell am I going to put it? I don't think the lady's arteries are in terribly good shape, or her circulation, for that matter. Her heart is barely beating, so it is something, but only barely."

Charles said, " From the back to the heart. The best way is once I get the lady in the grip."

Colin nodded and then opened his bag and drew a big syringe full of medicine. Charles went to Medbay. Mimi was on the other end going into the air duct.

"Mimi, honey, come here," Charles said gently but firmly.

He let his dominance be heard in his voice. He had used it with Mimi a few times when they had put things in order and Miss had been stubborn enough for Charles to take the lead.

Oh really, I thought. I'm not going to be a fucking scientist lab rat, not going to come to you, but fine. Let's just go right out the door then. This scientist approached and approached and attacked. For some reason, the scientist won.

He got my hands down my sides and held me against him. He stroked my back and hummed something. Someone came to stroke my back. I was starting to calm down a bit. This wasn't a scientist. The smell of apples brought some sort of feeling of security, and calmness, like this would never hurt me, not like passionfruit had betrayed me fully. This has been my security for so long, my first feeling of security ever.

I felt a sting on my back, but I didn't care. I was in pain from so many places already. Slowly, my strength began to run out, and even my rage couldn't make my strength go to infinity. I was getting tired. Really tired, but a calm, steady heartbeat, different from what I was used to, was the last sound I heard before the darkness and exhaustion took me away.

Charles was fast, Colin noticed. Charles grabbed Mimi and pressed her face against his tightly, nodding at Colin. He kept Mimi's mouth shut by placing his hand under her jaw so she could not bite him. Colin knew a pretty damn lot about pharmaceutical panic and rage, and he had just the right drug. But the dosage? Mimi was skinny, less than 20 kilos, 15 what scales in the bed had shown, but Colin decided to play it safe with metabolism and other factors.

Colin spoke to Charles in his mind, "Charles, I'm going to come and put a cannula into Mimi's heart from the back. And then I'll start giving her as much medicine as she needs. I'm going to stock this syringe with a lot of medicine, so take it slowly if you can just keep Mimi. "

Charles nodded. Mimi had calmed down a little and was starting to shiver again with the fever. Even the rage wouldn't last long on her.

Damon had done a number on Mimi. Colin came up behind Mimi and stroked the skeleton's thin back. Mimi's vertebrae felt brittle, her ribs even more fragile. He felt careful and found just the right spot. She didn't even flinch as Colin inserted the needle into her heart and slid the catheter deeper. He taped the cannula in place for a moment, took the large syringe that he had drawn ready, put it into the other end of the cannula, and pressed the medicine into the cannula.

The amount of medicine that went in was unbelievable. Colin watched as half the medicine was gone, and Mimi began to tire. It wasn't until three-quarters of the medicine was gone that Mimi was unconscious. Charles carried Mimi with extreme gentleness to the patient's bed, and Colin got to work.
