Chapter 31 - Epilogue- The Day Illya Turned Ten

Arriving inside their dorm room, Shito looked around the living room, noticing how easy their room was to enter if the mage had a teleportation spell. The two of them had a daughter now, even though their daughter was strong. Nobody wants to be on edge in their own home.

Putting his hand in the air, a three-dimensional magic circle formed on the ground, covering their whole dorm room.

I'm going to have to put a Magic Restriction in this area. Shito thought as mana started to fill the entire dorm room.

Magic restrictions were something that only top-level mages could use. A magic restriction is put up in certain areas to stop any magic from being used in that area, but criminals have found a way to bypass some of those restrictions.

People created these things called SNP restraints. It was a bracelet that completely suppressed the effect of the magic restrictions. The magic restriction was only used in non-combat fighting zones. The only reason the magic schools did not have the magic restrictions placed is that the students at the school would not be able to grow stronger with them placed on the campus.

"What are you doing right now?" Tenka asked, looking at all the mana that was covering their dorm room.

Black particles were filling the room. The particles were energy from the void, so anyone who tried to force their way inside the dorm room would be reduced to nothingness on the spot. No sounds would be heard, they would just disappear.

"I'm creating a magic restriction that instantly kills anyone that tries to force their way inside of the dorm," Shito said, bending his fingers almost as if he was grasping a weight, forcing the particles to swarm all over the place. "I have a daughter here and she needs to be protected, although she is strong, she shouldn't have to fight when she is at him."

The red-haired woman could feel the sincerity in his voice, everything that was coming out of his mouth was what he was feeling deep down. However, Shito was someone who was not interested in other people. A person that would ruthlessly kill people. Shito had a soft spot for those he called family and the only people that he classified as his family were his older sister, Sara Mahinu his daughter, Illya Mahinu, and the mother of his daughter… Tenka Vermillion.

Tenka sighed, looking at Shito. "I'm glad you are taking this seriously. Having a daughter would have been a huge responsibility for me by myself."

"What are talking about? I would have had to do something anyway, we live in the same dorm, so watching you do it yourself would be a little weird since I am a man that is staying with you... there is no way I'm going to let you raise this child as a single mother after giving her my blood and power."

With that, the particles disappeared, and the magic restriction spell was complete. Nobody could enter the room without their permission and if they did, they would die. The only exception to this rule was his sister.

"Now that, that is finished. We should really give our daughter a birthday."

Tenka looked at Shito, not knowing what he was talking about, even if their daughter Illya had been an assassin. Everyone was born with a birthday.

But that was the furthest thing from the truth. The people from the assassin's guild did not have birthdays. Most were abandoned by their families when they were younger, and the guild did not care about their birthdays. They just get older, and people can only estimate what their ages are. People that joined by their own will had their birthdays, but they abandoned them since they had no family to celebrate it with.

"Assassins don't have birthdays, so that means that Illya doesn't have a birthday," Shito said, looking at Tenka who was still holding their daughter. "I don't want to find out the day that she was born because that would be the day she was probably taken in by the guild on that day, so we have to give her a birthday."

"Ok, what is the date today."

Shito looked at the calendar that was pinned on the wall in the living room and looked back at Tenka.

"It's September 28th."

"Well, that could be the date of her birthday. Since she did all the fighting yesterday because of you, her father encouraged her to do it. So, making a day we could not celebrate for her is bad, so we can do it now and celebrate it before she wakes up."

Snapping his fingers, the whole room transformed, and birthday decorations appeared all over their dorm room.

They were going to finish decorating the room before their daughter even woke up, since they had magic that made it easier for them to get the job done.

Shito suddenly teleported out of the dorm room.

A split second later, Shito reappeared in the dorm room with a cake in his hand. There were candles on the cake that said the number 'ten'.

"Damn you went and got the cake fast as hell… and how did you know she was ten years old?"

"...Don't worry about that."

Shito threw his consciousness back in time to the time Illya was first born. He went back over ten years and saw when his daughter Illya was abandoned by a woman that was her mother at the time. She had on a black hood, and she knew full well what would happen to her daughter when she got left in front of the assassins' guild.

There was no reason at all he could tell her that he could go back in time. Since she was not strong enough yet, stuff could happen to her because she figured out that type of information.

What reason would he have to put one of his loved ones in that kind of situation? He would have no reason to do something like that because it would result in him having to kill people.

"Ok, I understand, let's just make a birthday that's enjoyable for our daughter," Tenka said, placing her daughter on the couch that was in the living room.

Shito nodded his head, walking towards the kitchen, he started to use mana and a miniature screen appeared in his face. Tapping the screen, the screen started to call his sister, Sara Mahinu.

The screen he used was like the screens one would see on a cell phone, tablet, and other screen-like things that existed in the world. It was a modern era with monsters everywhere.

"Hello, Little Brother, what do you want to talk to me about?" Sara said, through the mana screen she could be seen. "I thought I told you to get a cell phone… using magic like this is a waste of mana when we could do the exact same thing with a phone.

"I don't want a cell phone," Shito said. "But… I called you to ask what the perfect gift I could give to a child."

"Why are you giving a child a gift? Are you some kind of perv–"

"Don't you dare say that," Shito interrupted before his sister could say anything weird, "Do not ask about it right now… I am going to show you in a month about what I got, so I and Tenka will be taking a break from school. A month's break to be clearer."

"Wait you can't do tha–"

Shito suddenly hung up the phone before his sister said anything. He did not want to hear anything she said anymore because he had already figured out what he was going to get his daughter.

"Dimensional Storage."

A portal formed in front of his face, and another dimension was on the other side of the portal. There were all types of treasure on the other side of the portal.

He looked around for a bit, noticing a long sword that was on that was black in color.

"If I'm not mistaken that sword was one of the swords I have created. I guess that would be a good gift since the sword will combine with her body being recognized as the owner. A sword that was going to stay with her forever because it could never be broken, a sword that was condensed by the stars."

Shito picked up the sword and started to notice a necklace that was on the ground. The necklace had a sapphire in the middle of it. The necklace was covered with diamonds of the highest quality.

Picking up the necklace, he walked out of the dimensional storage.

The dimensional storage closed after he left, and he noticed Tenka sitting down beside their daughter who was sleeping peacefully on the chair.

Shito walked towards Tenka, putting the sword on the ground before he pulled the necklace out of his pockets. He put the necklace on her neck and quickly got up off the ground.

"...That was for you."

Tenka's face turned red, and she instantly looked away from him, trying her best to hide her embarrassment. Even if she was embarrassed, she liked the fact that he gave her a gift, to begin with, so she looked at him and smiled.

"Thank you, I'm glad you got me a gift."

Shito started using mana, and the sword that was on the ground started to fly toward his hands.

"We have to wake our daughter so we can celebrate her birthday."

Tenka woke up her daughter and started to walk her to the kitchen.

Illya was still tired because she did not get enough sleep, so she did not notice the birthday decorations that were up.

"Happy birthday, Illya!" Shito and Tenka, shouted, getting the attention of their daughter.

She was shocked to hear the words 'Happy Birthday' since she had never heard the word before. Illya knew what the words meant, but she did not know that she herself did not know she had a birthday of her own.

"Me—…!? …You are saying that I have a birthday!?" Illya asked with tears filling her eyes.

Tenka nodded her head, smiling at her daughter. "We gave you a birthday since you are our daughter. I and your father cannot have you wandering around without a birthday."

Shito walked up to his daughter, handing her the sword that was in his hand.

"Happy tenth birthday, Illya," Shito spoke in one of the softest tones he had ever spoken in. He was also happy about his daughter's tenth birthday. "This is a present from me and your mother. I hope you enjoy it."

Illya looked at her parents and smiled brightly before she wiped the tears from her face and walked towards the table with the sword in her hand. Her grip on the sword was getting tighter and tighter by the passing second and her eyes started to water a bit.

As time passed by her smile got even brighter, at that moment—her smile was like a blooming flower.

"Thank you… Mama and Papa!"

It was the sincere smile of a child who was happy to be celebrating her birthday with her family. It was the first time she had ever experienced having a birthday party and she was going to enjoy it.
