Chapter 13 - The Secret Behind The Technique

Chao Feng unsheathed his sword and also got its sheathe out, placing it on the left side of his hip and sheathing it, picking the Liu Mei he had placed on the ground back up again, much to her surprise and dismay, but he didn't care.

If he left her there, she would be in danger.

Before long, Chao Feng returned to where the man was simply sitting there, resting for a bit, but he ran past, maintaining a speed too fast for the man to notice.

He stopped when he was in the bushes, and placed Liu Mei down, putting his hand over her mouth and whispering something to her before he charged at the man, using the Unrivalled Sword of Purity.

Although he could use the technique with his bare hands, it was obviously much more powerful when used with a sword, after all, it was a sword technique.

Chao Feng came out of nowhere and ambushed the man, much like how he had done to him a short time earlier. Chao Feng delivered a precise and powerful sword strike at the man's neck, but the man managed to reflexively stand up and move a few steps backward, meaning that Chao Feng's sword only lightly slashed the man's stomach.

"What is this sword technique? Such a fast and powerful technique, I should have heard of it before." The man asked when there was an adequate distance between him and Chao Feng, he was genuinely curious.

"Unrivalled Sword of Purity." Chao Feng replied coldly, what was the point in ignoring a dead man's final question?

"What a shitty name. It should just be called Fast Sword or something like that. There is not unrivalled or purity even in this technique." The man remarked.

At that instant, Chao Feng realised that the man's words were true. Unrivalled? Any high-level sword technique could easily defeat it. Purity? It was simply a fundamental sword strike.

Chao Feng began to think that there was more to the technique than what meets the eye. When he returned home, he would definitely have another look at it.

At that instant, Chao Feng finally mastered the technique mid-combat, by realising that this version of the technique was nothing but a simple sword strike.

All this time, he had believed that the technique had something special, but sometimes, to break through limitations, one has to wonder if there are any limitations at all.

Chao Feng felt as if he was in a state of enlightenment, he began to strike his sword with profound force, even creating energy from the sword itself.

"His sword attacks became much stronger? No, he mastered the technique? Mid-battle?" The man was shocked, if word got out about this, many people would laugh and many would also be shocked, he wasn't in a position to laugh so he would naturally only be shocked.

"You are the one to blame for your own death." Chao Feng combined the second destruction style with the Unrivalled Sword of Purity, but instead of infusing energy into his hand, he moved it a bit forward to the sword, increasing its strength exponentially yet again.

The man felt the intense pressure from the sword and grew scared, he was prepared to escape unless he was unable to combat Chao Feng.

Chao Feng noticed him slowly retreating and smirked.

At that moment, he used the peak power of the second destruction style, condensing his spiritual energy in the outside world and using it to greatly extend his reach, beheading the man with a single strike!

Mastery of the second destruction style allowed the user to, with their extremely high control over their spiritual energy, condense their spiritual energy into a physical object in the outside world.

Coupled with Chao Feng's mastery of the Unrivalled Sword of Purity technique, he could use this condensed energy as another limb if his body, like his sword. That was how he was able to move it and control it.

Liu Mei watched, her heart racing.

Chao Feng rushed to the bushes where he left her, and after confirming that she was still there, he told her: "Stay near me, alright? I will clear this area, and then we can leave the mountain once I find enough Condensation Pills.

During the trip to the mountain so far, he had obtained fifty Origin Essence Grass, sixty Restoration Saint Grass and the main focus of the trip, thirty Condensation Pills.

Chao Feng wanted to get at least sixty, as he knew that number would be sufficient to fully condense his spiritual energy.

The Origin Essence Grass was a rare cultivation medicine, it contained spiritual energy and allowed one to increase the amount of spiritual energy in their dantian, taking the user one step further to breaking through.

Chao Feng planned to take ten and give twenty to both his adoptive elder brother Chao Zheng and his adoptive father Chao Lieshuan.

As for the Restorative Saint Grass, it was a cultivation medicine that allowed the user to speed up recovery after tempering the body, and also to recover after a battle from injuries.

He was planning to keep twenty of these and donate the remaining forty to the Chao family.

Condensation Pills were much harder to find, as they had to be naturally formed. Naturally formed pills are a rarity in this world, yet in the Rocky Stone Mountain, there was an abundance of them.

Chao Feng moved on to the next area and the next, encountering no issues and gaining seventy more Origin Essence Grass, fifty more Restorative Saint Grass and finally reaching the goal of a hundred Condensation Pills.

He made another pair of beds for him and Liu Mei, who was oddly quiet today. Chao Feng started to make conversation with her.

"We will leave soon, I have achieved my goal." Chao Feng said.

Liu Mei just nodded her head and closed her eyes, attempting to get some sleep.

Chao Feng sighed and shook his head, looking at the starry night sky with amazement.

"The sky is so far, yet one can see its components clearly. It makes one wonder, if one was to be in the presence of a star, how large would it actually be?"

Chao Feng had always been amazed by the night sky, during his homelessness and his life in the Royal Sea Palace, every other night he would spend a long time gazing and admiring the sky.

When his eyes left the sky, he noticed that Liu Mei was already fast asleep. He softly chuckled and lay on his side, gazing at the trees that covered him and Liu Mei, the grass underneath them and the strange white light…

Wait.

"What is that?" Chao Feng was entranced by the strange white light that appeared out of nowhere; he got up and walked over to it, trying to touch it.

When his long yet thick fingers caressed the surface of the white light, he was suddenly engulfed by it, being sucked into another

"Hello." A mysterious and calm

voice suddenly rang out, awakening Chao Feng from his stupor.

"Where am I?" He thought aloud, he didn't remember getting up and touching the strange white light.

"Tell me your name." The voice sounded out once again.

"Huh? Oh, Chao Feng." With the strange aura that the voice exuded, Chao Feng felt compelled to oblige to his demands.

Chao Feng was very confused right now, there were many, many things he didn't know or understand.

Chao Feng looked in front of him, where an old man was standing completely upright, adorned in a long black robe and smiling with crooked teeth.

The whole thing was extremely mysterious and obscure to Chao Feng, he felt as though his body didn't exist and that he was simply existing in the mysterious space.

"Chao Feng, a member of the Chao Divine Clan?" The man placed his hands behind his back and asked.

"Yes, sir." Chao Feng responded.

"If you are wondering what this area is, you will know in due time. Also, here you go." The man pulled out a thick, brown book from behind his back and then disappeared, dissolving into the mysterious greyness that enveloped the entire realm.

Chao Feng was shocked, confused and frightened but he still crouched down and picked up the book.

Once he picked it up, he felt as though his soul was travelling back into his body, as his head began to ring and his eyesight became distorted and blurry.

At that instant, he was back in his bed as if nothing had happened at all.
