Chapter 7 - Mistakes can become rewarding

Chao Feng felt the fruit enter his oesophagus, and he felt it contract to push the food down into his stomach. Before it reached his stomach, he circulated his spiritual energy to break it down, speeding up the digestion process greatly. Then, he sent all of his condensed spiritual energy underneath the broken down fruit and carried the fruit to his dantian with his spiritual energy.

Once it was inside his dantian, he decided to rest for a bit from cultivation. A few days had passed, and his mind and body needed some rest. He fell asleep instantly after lying down and closing his eyes and he slept for around seven hours before waking up due to an intense pain in his stomach.

After awaking, he entered meditation right away, trying to discern what exactly the problem was. Upon inspection, he realised that the pain originated from his dantian. He believed that it was simply the refinement of the Thorny Spiritual Fruit that was causing the pain.

He was wrong. He found out that the Thorny Spiritual Fruit was not even present within his dantian and he also noticed something else peculiar. The egg had almost quadrupled in size and since it was at the edge of his dantian, the pressure on the wall was where the pain was coming from. Chao Feng moved the egg into the middle and the pain completely subsided.

He made a guess: "Did the egg eat the fruit?"

It was the only plausible explanation for the sudden growth and the disappearance of the fruit. Yet, something else also happened.

"My spiritual energy is completely pure? This means that I can battle a peak third level cultivator! But if the egg consumed the fruit, how did my spiritual energy become completely pure?" Chao Feng was quite confused at the moment but he shrugged and continued to cultivate.

As time passed, Chao Feng noticed that the room's aura began to diminish.

"Perhaps this is the effect of my aura getting stronger? But that wouldn't be the case, I have barely condensed forty percent of my total spiritual energy. Oh! It might be that there is an allocated time for seclusion, and that I am nearing the end." Chao Feng guessed.

He was correct, he had been in seclusion for over two months and the allocated time was three months. During this period, he managed to condense forty percent of his spiritual energy, which was comparable to an average sixth rank cultivator. He didn't know that this was an amazing feat and he considered it as normal.

He also had managed to completely purify his spiritual energy and as for the egg, it was quite close to hatching.

Chao Feng still had half a month left, and he planned to make the most of it. During this period, his man focus at first had been on the egg but then it was diverted to purifying his spiritual energy. Now, he was ready to put all of his efforts into break the egg's shell. He had full confidence that he would be able to accomplish it very soon.

He continuously drew his spiritual energy and blood to the egg, forming more and more cracks on the surface and his confidence grew with every new crack.

Time flew by, and it was the last day of the seclusion. Chao Feng, while he was confident, knew that this was the end and he wouldn't be able to break the shell this time around. He still had one last-ditch attempt though, pouring every ounce of effort he had into it.

At that moment, the time ended and the room's cultivation environment completely disappeared, but Chao Feng did not leave. The efficacy was ten times less than it was before, but still Chao Feng wanted to cross over the final barrier, to break the shell was the only thing in his mind at the moment.

Royal Sea Palace.

"Sir, Xing Feng has been adopted by the Chu family." Wei Yan stated, he had a part-time job at an information agency so he knew a lot of news that was not available publicly.

"Haha, that kid really has come far. Which one adopted him?" The owner asked.

"Chao Lieshuan." Wei Yan replied.

"Oh? Him and me are old friends, I can pay a visit to Feng'er. I need to tell him something, something crucial to his future. Wei Yan, do you know why I recruited Feng'er?" The owner suddenly asked.

"No, sir." Wei Yan shook his head.

"It's simple really. I know Feng'er's biological father and him and me grew up together. I visited the house frequently and saw Feng'er multiple times but his father had many friends who regularly came over, I guess he didn't recognise me. I have never told Feng'er this, and recently, I went to visit his father again after Feng'er left. I had a conversation with him, and his father told me something that I have to relay to Feng'er. I cannot explain it all now, but while I'm gone, please take care of the restaurant. From now on, you are the owner of the Royal Sea Palace." The owner explained.

"Huh? Sir, but why? You will return, right?" Wei Yan protested.

The owner didn't replay, he just walked away, ignoring Wei Yan's cries with a solemn face.

He didn't like lying, but to assure that no true information got out, he had to.

When he was far away, deep in the shadows, he sighed and was suddenly engulfed by his own shadow, dissipating into the depths of the universe.

"Just a little more!" Chao Feng gritted his teeth and continued to bombard the impenetrable egg shell with his spiritual energy.

At that moment, the egg shell finally cracked!

Main palace of the Chu Divine Clan.

Ancestor Yao was watching the sky intently.

Suddenly, the silent night sky became filled with lights, and they crashed down towards the ground simultaneously, twenty bolts of lightning struck the ground!

Ancestor Yao lightly shook his head, an expression of shock and disbelief emerging on his face.

"It has already awakened. A Supreme Bloodline… In the entire realm, has it ever been seen before? It can only be Chao Xuanshan's." He sighed in his mind.

Chao Xuanshan, the Clan's greatest talent.

His bloodline had reappeared, and only a few months after it had resurfaced, it had even awakened.

"What are you?" Chao Feng called out to the beast that had been hatched from his egg. His entire dantian was completely occupied by it, but he didn't mind. He could feel the intense blood-red aura surging from it, that roused his excitement and interest.

"Heh." The beast simply chucked and curled itself up.

The beast was a huge red dragon with green serpent eyes and two large nostrils and ears, giving it a menacing look.

This dragon was Chao Feng's Martial Spirit!
