Chapter 22 - Courting Humiliation

There were 19 people going to the countryside for this batch and they will be dispatched to six villages. Five of the villages were each allocated with three educated youths, while the Zhao Family Village was allocated with four.

According to the person-in-charge of the Commune's Youth Office, Zhao Village had a large population and was a major production contributor with better conditions. Therefore, the number of educated youths assigned to Zhao Village was naturally the largest.

But Gu An'an felt that these factors were not her concern. She just wanted to know why she was so unlucky. Why was she assigned to the same village as Wen Taohua and Huang Dahai?

Did God think that she was living too comfortably? That was why he specially sent some weirdos to teach her a lesson?

Even though she was filled with disdain and displeasure, her expression still looked calm and natural.

However, when Wen Taohua spotted her calm and collected expression, the hatred in her heart burned even more fiercely. She wished she could rush forward and send Gu An'an to her death.

Gu An'an naturally ignored her. She couldn't even be bothered to look at her. In her eyes, Wen Taohua was like a grasshopper on the roadside, not worth her attention at all.

According to the arrangements and allocations, the other educated youths boarded the ox carts assigned to each village one after another. Zhao family village was the only village to send a four-wheeled tractor.

It was indeed impressive!

This was because the transportation system in Zhao Village was much more developed than that of the other villages. It was no wonder that so many educated youths were assigned here.

Under the envious gazes of the youths who had been assigned to the other villages, the tall young man suddenly pushed himself up and easily got into the driver's seat of the tractor.

He shouted coldly, "Those who are going to Zhao Village, hurry up and get in the car."

However, as soon as he finished speaking, he saw a smiling Wen Taohua walk up to him and say, "Hello, comrade! Can I sit in the front? I have an injury and it would be uncomfortable for me to sit in the back where the ride is more bumpy, so… please let me sit beside the driver's seat."

"This way, the two of us would have a chance to interact with each other."

With a self-perceived coy smile on her face, she lifted her leg and was getting ready to step into the driver's cabin.

"Go down!"

Zhao Mingyu glanced at her and said coldly, "Since you're so afraid of a bumpy ride, you can walk there by yourself. If you walk on two feet, you won't feel any bumps or discomfort. It might even cure you of your affectation."

"…" Hearing his words, Wen Taohua froze on the spot. She didn't know whether to retract her feet or not. It was an awkward situation.

"I… you…"

Wen Taohua looked at him with a face full of grievances, unable to believe that this man actually asked her to get to the countryside on foot.

"Just tell me, are you leaving with us or not? If not, then get out of the way. Don't stand here and be an eyesore. If you want to leave with us, just hop on. Being so high-maintenance, why bother going to the countryside? Why not just find a man in the city and get married?" Zhao Mingyu wasn't intending to let her get her way. His tone had become even colder than before, and the expression on his face was cold and stern.

With that, he pointed in a certain direction. "You, come up and sit in the front seat."

After saying that, Zhao Mingyu looked in the direction of his own finger. When he saw who he was pointing at, he was stunned momentarily before regaining his composure.

"Me?" Caught off guard, Gu An'an was stunned. She raised her hand and pointed at her face.

"Yes, that's right."

Zhao Mingyu nodded calmly. Then, he looked at the other two youths. "The two of you, get in the car quickly. If we don't leave now, the sky will turn dark soon…"

"Why her?"

Before he could finish speaking, the woman's sharp voice sounded in everyone's ears.
