Chapter 81 - Collision!

The Force Field Generator is a nightmare for Hawke. Hawke's tens of thousands of ships have had their attack power reduced by at least half because of the force field generator. The attrition rate was increased by more than fifty percent.

It could be said that without the Force Field Generator, Hawke could have held out completely until the Baoding in the asteroid belt returned, and with the Baoding, Hawke would have been able to hold out for a while longer again, with a good hope of holding out until the Tangshan and Langfang, and the 10,000 ships they led, returned. At that point, it would be the end of the Lucca ships.

Hawke made various attempts to destroy the force field generator. But they all failed.

Destroying the Force Field Generator would increase Hawke's chance of winning to 80 percent, and failing to destroy it would reduce Hawke's chance of winning to zero.

In order to destroy the Force Field Generator, Hawke had devised a crazy plan. But Hawke would never have wanted to use this plan if it hadn't been the most urgent of times.

Now, it was already the most critical moment.

"The force field generator is arranged on top of the ε Eri a. ... Since we can't destroy the force field generator, let's destroy the ε Eri a." Hawk let out a long sigh, "ε Eri galaxy, I'm sorry, for my survival, you must be sacrificed."

Hawke had been in the ε Eri galaxy galaxy for several hundred years. Within this time, Hawke's various technologies have been greatly enhanced. Hawke had an affection for this place.

Now, Hawke was going to destroy it all with his own hands.

"The planetary engines I placed on top of the ε Eri a are largely intact. Then, propel the ε Eri a to impact the ε Eri system. The Lucca ships will not follow ε Eri a to its death, so as soon as they leave ε Eri a by 150,000 km, the force field generator will be useless."

"At that point ... will be the time for me to strike back!"

Hawke perfected the plan.

The link between Hawke and the planetary engines was point-to-point over-the-horizon communication. Hawke had installed ten thousand hyper-range communicators within each City ship, corresponding to the planetary engines one by one, so the radio wave interference released by those one hundred Luca ships would not affect Hawke.

Immediately after the command was given, thousands of planetary engines were started up on the surface of ε Eri a, in both sectors a and b. Immediately, ε Eri a began to tremble.

It was the trembling of the entire planet. Faced with thousands of planetary engines of enormous power, even a planet, would tremble for it.

"The situation is already like this, so there is no need to care about the damage to ε Eri a's crust. Planetary engines! Start it at full power!" With a hint of madness, Hawke gave this order.

Before moving for ε Eri a, Hawke had gone through precise calculations, just so as not to damage ε Eri a's crust. Now, Hawke no longer had to care about that.

ε Eri a, was about to be destroyed at Hawke's hands.

The planetary engines in sectors a and b, one responsible for slowing down ε Eri a, so that the centrifugal force of its revolution would not be sufficient to counteract the gravitational pull of the ε Eri system on it. One is responsible for pushing ε Eri a towards the ε Eri galaxy, so that ε Eri a will fall towards the ε Eri galaxy at a faster speed.

The planet will hit the ε Eri galaxy! This is an impact between a planet and a star! It is predictable that a collision of this magnitude would be absolutely infinitely more energetic than the energy released by a Wood-Moon impact!

What a crazy thing to do!

At Hawke's command, thousands of planetary engines were fired up at full power. They spewed out long blue tails that waved through space. The huge jets of matter gave them unparalleled power, and all this power, applied to the ε Eri a.

Hawke saw that one planetary engine was so powerful that its entire head was lodged beneath the ground of the ε Eri a. Around this planetary engine it rose high, forming a crater.

Epsilon Eri a begins to roar. Above ε Eri a's earth, the surface began to crack, and countless deep, bottomless cracks began to spread, thousands of kilometres in length, like a shocking scar. Innumerable hot magma gushed out from beneath the earth, spreading across the surface like a river.

At the same time, there are places where the earth's crust is hard and no cracks appear on the surface. But the powerful pressure of the ground caused the internal magma to flow backwards, directly washing out a gap in the crust, and then, as if it were a volcanic eruption, the magma from the ground erupted through this gap several hundred metres high, before descending like a rain of fire.

In addition to the violent volcanic activity, Hawke also observed an extremely strong earthquake on top of ε Eri a. The crust of ε Eri a had been shattered by the planetary engine and split into several pieces, which then, as on Earth, collided and squeezed each other, and then a strong earthquake erupted.

It would not be an exaggeration to describe it as an overturning of the sky and the sea. Hawke could clearly see that this powerful earthquake had directly flattened a crater eight hundred metres high above ε Eri a. In another place, a strong earthquake had created a mountain more than two thousand metres high within an hour. The magnitude of this earthquake was well over twelve.

It was, as it were, the resigned roar of a planet on its deathbed.

This, just sixty seconds after the planetary engine was activated.

This time, the planetary engines were at full power! These engines, in Hawke's projection, would provide ε Eri a with a deceleration of ten metres per second! Coupled with the propulsive effect of the sector b engines, it would only take a maximum of five hours for ε Eri a to be propelled down into the ε Eri system.

If the Lucca civilisation still had basic astronomical as well as computational knowledge, they would have fled by now. How much energy would be released by a planet striking a star? Hawke had not calculated it, but Hawke knew that this level of energy was definitely beyond his imagination. Above the current distance of 20 million kilometres, his own ship could not resist, nor could the ships of the Lucca civilisation, either.

And as soon as they fled, it would mean that one's own, which was within the encirclement, would also passively flee.

Then, all the ships would move away from the force field generator, and Hawke would have a fair chance to fight with the other side again.

This, then, was what Hawke had been seeking.

However, Hawke saw that the Lucan civilisation did not run away. Not only did they not flee, they instead chose to split off two hundred ships and quickly disengage from the battlefield. Hawk knew that they had gone to destroy the planetary engines.

"The planetary engines, as long as they stay powered up for an hour, ε Eri a will be in an irreversible impact orbit, which means that I have to protect them for an hour!"

Hawke quickly came to a conclusion, and then, without hesitation, Hawke detached three thousand ships from among the outer ships and went after them towards the two hundred ships.

Thousands of ships, chasing and killing each other above the ε Eri a surface, full of huge cracks, riddled with lava and violently volcanic. The Lucca ships wanted to destroy the planetary engines, and Hawk, to protect them.

In sector a, the head of a planetary engine plunged a hundred metres deep into the ground, and, with the enormous energy still coming from its tail, this depth continued to deepen.

Around it, raging lava had gathered into rivers, soaking its huge steel body. But the heavy armour and good insulation allowed it to work on, at least for another hour before being destroyed by the lava.

But instead of lava and earthquakes destroying it, a cannonball from thousands of kilometres up destroyed it.

It was a country-class ship of the Lucca civilisation. It was attacked by ten ships and found an opportunity under the entanglement to bring down an energy cannonball. This energy blast directly blew the entire planetary engine to pieces. Then, with only this delay, it was destroyed by the ten ships that were entangled. The ship fell, trailing smoke, right next to the planet engine, like a sacrifice for it.

This was happening in hundreds of places on ε Eri a at the same time.

There are more than 5,000 planetary engines available for use. Now, this number is slowly decreasing.

"Overload! Overload! Use this one anyway, it won't be used, it's broken!"

Hawke roared in silent rage and gave a new order.

The four thousand or so planetary engines still remaining increased their power once more. The ghostly blue tails ejected from their tails were brighter, and they sank, faster and faster.

ε Eri a, the volcanoes and earthquakes became more and more violent.

ε Eri a, like a sweet, juicy orange. The planetary engines placed on its surface are the big hands that squeeze the orange with force. Under the forceful squeeze of this hand, the magma inside the orange inevitably ejected. Hawke saw that the highest jet of magma even spurted directly into ε Eri a synchronous orbit.

After being cooled by the extreme cold of space, the magma would turn into a rock and begin to revolve around the ε Eri a. Ten minutes had passed.

Ten minutes have passed. ε Eri a's orbit has been pushed closer than 3,000 km and its speed has been reduced by 5 km. This figure, and it is still increasing.

If the planetary engines continue to run for more than thirty minutes, a collision between ε Eri a and the ε Eri system will be inevitable. As things stand now, if Hawke stops the planetary engines in sectors a and b and instead uses the planetary engines in sectors c and d to accelerate and push off for ε Eri a, ε Eri a is not yet dead. And as long as it continued for more than thirty minutes, by then, even Hawke, could not save ε Eri a.

The planetary engines had already been destroyed by a thousand, and there were still more than four thousand left. It was at this point that Hawke saw a sight that delighted him to no end.

Seemingly thinking that he did not have the power to stop this from happening, the Lucca civilisation ships, began to flee towards outer space.

All the ships, left the force field generator that had given Hawke so many nightmares.
