THE TEARS OF A MOTHER
The morning sun bathed the cozy breakfast room in a warm glow as the group gathered around the table, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a variety of breakfast foods filling the air. Laughter and chatter filled the room, but one notable absence caught Lily's attention.
Lily's brow furrowed as she scanned the room, her friend Emelia noticeably absent. Curiosity getting the better of her, she tapped Jack on the shoulder and whispered, "Where's Emelia?"
Jack, with a nonchalant tone, replied, "Oh, Emelia and George left for the hotel this morning."
Lily's eyes widened, a hint of disappointment in her voice as she responded, "And she didn't think it was appropriate to tell me before she left?"
Jack defended, "I told them not to bother you, especially since you were still sleeping."
Pouting, Lily retorted, "That's not an excuse."
