"What is your name and business here?" one of the guards asked, eyeing him with suspicion.
"My name is Delvin, and I am a low-level hunter," he replied, trying to sound as confident as possible while showing the hunter badge that he had taken from Jules' dead body. The hunter badges for all normal hunters looked the same, with a hunter academy sign printed on a wooden circular badge, except for the higher ranking hunters in the kingdom who were given silver or gold badges accordingly.
"I am seeking to return to the kingdom to purchase a sword, as I broke mine while fighting with a beast."
The guards exchanged a quick glance, clearly not entirely convinced by his answer. But they also knew that they couldn't simply turn him away without good reason because he still had his hunter's badge. Hunters were respected in every part of the kingdom as they fought with beasts.
