Chapter 1: The Transmigration
Yuan Chen was a die-hard gamer, and his favorite game was Dapper Bird, a challenging game where players controlled a dapper-looking bird as it navigated increasingly difficult obstacles. One day, he embarked on a marathon gaming session, determined to beat his previous high score of 10,000 points.
As the hours passed, Yuan Chen became increasingly engrossed in the game, barely blinking as he furiously tapped his controller. He was so absorbed in his quest that he hardly noticed the intense pain in his chest after 47 hours of non-stop gaming. Suddenly, his vision blurred, and his heart raced uncontrollably.
Collapsing to the ground, he realized he had pushed himself too far. With one final gasp, Yuan Chen closed his eyes and passed away. His tragic death served as a cautionary tale for gamers everywhere. As his soul drifted into the afterlife, he heard a voice say, "Congratulations! You have unlocked the 'Death by Video Game' achievement!"
Moments later Yuan Chen found himself standing in a vast wilderness, surrounded by mountains and forests. Dressed in strange, ancient-looking clothes, he tried to recall what had happened before he blacked out. A voice echoed in his mind, "Congratulations, Host. You have successfully transmigrated into the world of cultivation. As a reward, you have been given a cheat system to help you on your journey."
Despite his embarrassing death, Yuan Chen felt excited to embark on this new adventure. "Why was I chosen for this?" he asked.
"Host, you have been chosen because you possess a unique talent that will be of great use in this world. You will soon discover your true potential and become a powerful cultivator, all you have to do is think to activate the system" the voice replied.
Eager to see what the cheat system could do, Yuan Chen opened it in his mind. He was greeted by a list of skills and items to acquire. There were numerous skills ranging from martial arts to magic spells. Most were grayed out, with only the most basic options available in color. After some consideration, he chose the "Body Strengthening" skill.
As soon as he selected the skill, the voice in his head announced, "Skill Body Strengthening Learned." A surge of energy flowed through his body, making him feel stronger and more resilient. Filled with vigor, Yuan Chen punched forward, but instead of throwing a perfect punch, he struck with so much force that he was knocked off balance and ended up hitting the ground. He spent the next few hours adjusting himself to his newfound strength, punching trees and jumping around, slowly becoming more fluent with his unfamiliar body.
After completing his rigorous training, Yuan Chen took a final look at the system and noticed there was a weapon that was not grayed out. Realizing he was in an unfamiliar area with no realistic means to defend himself, Yuan Chen opted to select the sword. A regular iron sword materialized, featuring a sturdy iron blade and a simple hilt, ready to be wielded in battle.
Tired from his training, Yuan Chen found a comfortable-looking tree and sat down, gazing into the horizon as he allowed himself to be enveloped by the calming embrace of sleep. An unknown amount of time later, Yuan Chen awoke to droplets of something wet falling onto his face. Startled, he jumped up, searching for the source of the drops, only to realize it was just rain.
As the storm intensified, he realized he needed shelter for the night and set off in search of a cave. Fortunately, there was one not too far from his current position. Yuan Chen approached the cave.
As he neared the entrance, he heard a rustling sound
coming from within. Cautiously entering, his hand rested on the sword he had acquired from the cheat system. A coal-black beast with malicious eyes emerged from the darkness. Yuan Chen raised his sword, but the beast was too fast. It knocked the sword out of his hand and sent him flying across the cave.
Not knowing what to do, he checked the cheat system, hoping there was something it could do to get him out of this hopeless situation. To his dismay, he finally understood what the grayed-out options meant. When he tried to select a powerful-looking armor, the system notified him, "Insufficient points. Please slay more monsters."
He cursed his carelessness and engaged the beast again. "Fine, I don't need the system anyway. I'm plenty powerful as is." Overconfident, Yuan Chen charged the beast at the fastest pace he could muster. He even managed to land a powerful kick on the beast, but that was all it was - a kick. The beast retaliated, leaving a deep wound on his chest and sending him flying into the wall.
As he felt his life force slipping away, Yuan Chen frantically clicked through his system, trying to find any way to save his life. But he was only met with a system prompt: "Insufficient points. Please slay more beasts to acquire more points."
Yuan Chen's consciousness faded, and he found himself back where he had woken up hours earlier. His surroundings were the same as if he had gone back in time, but instead of feeling strong and well-rested, he felt very weak. A debuff was applied, "Weakness. Your strength has been reduced by 50%. Please pay 1000 points to remove."
"I don't even know how many points that is. Hopefully, it's not a lot, or I'm not going to make it very far in this world," cried Yuan Chen. He checked his system to see if anything else had changed and, to his surprise, he found a stat list and inventory. He still had his skill and his sword, but he now had two stats for each category, one gray and another half of the gray one.
"So those are my stats after the weakness debuff," Yuan Chen thought to himself.
Yuan Chen:
Speed: 2 (4)
Strength: 2 (4)
Intelligence: 1 (2)
Body: 0.5 (1)
System Level: 1 (only provides weapons ,armor and skills)
"No wonder I died so fast; I'm so weak," Yuan Chen wondered why there were only four stats. Maybe he had to unlock more through the system. With more knowledge about his situation, Yuan Chen summoned his sword and set off in search of the cave he had died in. But this time, he had a plan.
