"Hillary," He called once again. This time he had reached where she sat and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"What do you want?" She sounded cold, something he pretended not to know.
"It's nothing. I was just surprised to see you here," He replied as he moved to sit beside her.
She didn't respond for a short while.
"You know," She finally began. "In school, I wanted to make real friends. I wanted to meet people who would befriend me for who I am and not because of my status. I never experienced what true friendship was but since the game, I got to understand what it meant."
Hillary spoke as she gazed at her palms. If only Max could see the disappointed look on her face.
"But it seemed that I never really understood anything until now. I just believed I did," She finally stared in his direction.
"What do you mean?" Max proceeded to ask.
"What I mean is that our whole friendship was a lie. You are a lie," Hillary said.
