She heaved a sigh and gently brought her fist against the door.
"Mum," She called out, her voice almost in a whisper.
"Come in, darling," Her mother's voice came from behind the door.
Kayla gently pushed the door open and walked in, before closing the door behind her. Mrs. Addison, who had been lying on the bed quickly moved to sit at the edge while her daughter moved to join her.
"What's it?" Mrs. Addison looked at her daughter with a worried look on her face. "Why aren't you in bed already? What's even the time?"
She quickly reached for her phone lying across the bed and read the time as 10:30pm.
"It's late, Kayla. You should be in bed now," Her brows creased.
"Mum, I know..." She sighed. Every now and then she sighed even before a word could come out of her mouth, and Mrs. Addison knew immediately that something was wrong.
