At the sudden question, Merikh's whole body stiffened and although not clearly, Delaney could see his face harden and the muscles at the back of his jaw twitch.
She felt bad for bringing up the topic when they were having a moment of peace, but she just had to ask because she was still disturbed by the entire story and Merikh's past.
After a long silence, Merikh's shoulders fell and his eyes lowered. He sighed, then looked back at Delaney, a part of him hoping she would back down, but Delaney was determined to get her answers and her eyes clearly showed it.
"I know you have a lot of questions but, do we need to talk about this now?" He asked resignedly and Delaney almost didn't blink as she stared into his pleading his eyes through the burning fire.
"I don't see any need to delay the inevitable," she answered plainly. "I do have a lot of questions and I need clarity moving forward," she added, and Merikh's eyes flickered for a moment.
