The next morning, Tang Meirong started knocking on Yun Qingcheng's bedroom door.
"Qingqing?"
Even after knocking for a while, she didn't get any response.
'This girl sleeps like a pig.'
Knock~ Knock~
"Qingqing, I am coming in."
Tang Meirong opened the door, the room was completely dark so she fumbled her way to the windows.
She opened all the curtains, and as the glaring sunlight filled the whole room, Yun Qingcheng turned her face to the other side and pulled the covers over her head to block the light.
Tang Meirong went to her bedside and shook her to wake her up.
"Little pig, Wake up."
Then she pulled the quilt off her.
Yun Qingcheng scrunched up her face as she said grumpily,
"There is no pig here, only me. And me needs to sleep."
She tried to take the quilt back but Tang Meirong tightened her grip on it as she told her,
"There is no time for you to sleep anymore, get up and get ready."
Hearing the words 'get ready' alarm bells went off in Yun Qingcheng's brain. She held the pillow tightly as she yelled,
"No-No-No, I'll not go out again."
"Who's asking you to go out, your grandmother is coming back today. Get up to greet her."
"Huh? Grandma wasn't home?"
"That's why I say you should get out of your room more often, your grandmother hasn't been home for a month now."
"No doubt, I felt the house was too quiet recently."
While they both were talking about this, downstairs Yun Qiang welcomed Grandma Yun.
Grandma Yun was in her seventies, she had shiny silver hair with light blue streaks. She was dressed in a one-piece floral gown with Shoes. Holding a tote bag in hand.
Grandma Yun hugged Yun Qiang as she asked excitedly,
"Qiang, look at me, do I look tanned?"
"No Mother, you look fine."
"Eh? What do you mean I look fine, I went to the beach side so that I can get tanned after all it's trendy nowadays."
When Tang Meirong came down this is what she heard, she quickly came to Yun Qiang's rescue.
"Mother, you have a healthy tan complexion. It's looking great."
"I do, right? I think I look better than Xiuqin who got a spray tanning."
Tang Meirong nodded her head vigorously.
Seeing that his mother became happy with a few words from his wife, Yun Qiang gave her a thumbs up.
"Mother I have some business to attend, I will take my leave."
She waved her hand indicating he should leave, as turned her head around to look for her grandchildren. She turned to Tang Meirong to ask, to which Tang Meirong replied,
"Qingxin has left for the office and Qingqing should be coming down soon."
Just as she said this, Yun Qingcheng came down.
"Hello, grandma."
"Hey Qingqing come here quickly, I brought you gifts."
"What did you get me, Grandma?"
She took out a piece of black lace lingerie from a paper bag and handed it to Yun Qingcheng.
"How is it do you like it? Isn't it a perfect gift for you to take on your honeymoon?"
Yun Qingcheng turned into a statue holding the piece of lingerie in her hands.
Seeing there was no response, she looked at Yun Qingcheng.
"Hey, why is your face so red? You already have a fiance, you will soon be married. What's there to be shy about?"
Yun Qingcheng looked at her grandmother with her eyes widened. She was shocked beyond words.
'How can grandma give such things?'
Before grandma yun could continue talking about it in more detail, Tang Meirong decided to stop the conversation she knew her daughter was too shy to talk about these things.
"Where is my gift, Mother?"
"Oh, I got something for you too"
Seeing that her mother had diverted her grandmother's attention, Yun Qingcheng quickly put the gift back in the bag and ran back to her room.
Grandma Yun took out another paper bag and from it came out two satin nightgowns with straps. They were about thigh length.
"Try these out tonight."
She even threw a wink after saying that.
Now it was Tang Meirong's turn to become speechless.
The day went by, and soon nighttime came.
During Dinner, the whole family gathered around the dining table.
"Mother I have got the cook to make all your favorite dishes."
Grandma Yun looked at the table filled with sweet and sour dishes and smiled from ear to ear.
The family did not have many rules; they talked as they ate.
Yun Qiang asked Grandma Yun about her trip.
Grandma Yun described her trip in detail and in the end, summed it up,
"It was a fun trip, we met a lot of new people and I picked up some new skills as well."
"What skills?"
"It's nothing. The main point is I enjoyed it a lot."
As she was saying this she sneakily looked at Yun Qingcheng.
But to her disappointment, Yun Qingcheng was busy filling her mouth with food, uninterested in all their talks.
After dinner, the family sat together for a while before calling it a day.
Midnight
Yun Qingcheng as usual went out of her room in search of some midnight snacks,
"Yawn~ I ate my fill during dinner but I still feel hungry. If this keeps going on, I'll become fat."
*Clink*
'Huh? Someone's here? At this hour?'
"Brother?"
As she made her way to the living room she saw her grandma sitting on the sofa muttering to herself,
"Little lemon juice, some orange juice, here goes tequila, and then some more ice. Perfect!"
"Grandma?"
"Oh, dear! It's you. Ah, why do you walk silently? You scared me."
'I didn't walk silently it was you who was too engrossed in… hmm?'
"Grandma! What are you doing?!"
"I was making myself an orange margarita. Come sit I'll make some for you too. This is what I learned from this handsome kid I met on the island."
Yun Qingcheng's lips twitched looking at her grandma, who was so proud of her newly equipped skills.
"Grandma you shouldn't be drinking too much."
"When did I drink too much, I didn't even drink during dinner time and I am already old. What could possibly go wrong?"
"It is because You are old you should take care of your health."
"I have lived my life to the fullest so even if something were to happen I won't have regrets."
"Grandma.."
"Qingqing"
Grandma Yun turned to look at Yun Qingcheng
"Did you know, I and your grandfather were couple goals back in our college days. Now look at us, I have become a laughing stock for the woman who used to envy me."
Yun Qingcheng was shocked to hear this, she had always thought her grandparents had an arranged marriage, that's why it turned out like this.
"In life, there will be a lot of ups and downs. We can never be sure that our lives would go as we have planned them to be."
Yun Qingcheng didn't know what to say so she quietly listened.
"Qinqing you need to go out to understand whether what you have now is what you want or if is there something much better waiting for you."
"I know Grandma."
"If you know then why do you insist on being like this?"
"I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to stay inside the house all day. Why do I have to change myself? And if things didn't turn out the way I wanted them to I will accept it."
Although Yun Qingcheng acted as if she didn't care, she was not as confident as before.
