Chapter 44 - Ch 43. Cuddles

R O S A N N A' S  P O V:

I was tapped awake by Kairos, who had already finalized his work and arranged the papers to the side of his desk.

Yawning slighly, I stood up from the chair and followed him outside the classroom, my eyelids feeling droopy and my body heavy from tiredness.

'Ugh, moving is stress'. I complained internally, nevertheless pushing my feet to walk. Just a little bit more to bed sweet bed, and a few hours sleep before classes. 4 hours. Four fudging hours.

Absolutely. fun.

"...I originally intended to have Elan and Karissa train you but I'll be taking over your training and make better changes. Practices will be an hour every day and adjusted to your class schedules. Is that okay, tressia?" Kairos' deep voice came out extremely clear and resounded in the isolated space.

"Sure." I nodded, walking sideways by him and taking sneaky glances at the man who kept a serene expression with a nonchalant air.

The golden lights fell upon our frame and we marched quietly in an even slow pace. Was it me or did the atmosphere just seem so calm and sensual?

Walking by his side, I was very aware of Kairos' presence and that we were alone in the hallway. And honestly, I enjoyed the silence that we engulfed in. It was comfortable.

Like taking an evening stroll with a friend who knew your problems, and assured you of assistance, wiping a significant amount of stress off your mind. Maybe I was feeling slightly dependant on the white haired creature.

Also, Kairos walking by my side-- with me, together, the whole idea was nice and interesting in a unique way. I was very comforted knowing I had someone who'd help me along this arduous journey that GCA thought it'd be great for me, THE Rosanna Graymond, to embark on.

"What do you think of a formal introduction to my mother?" He suddenly asked.

Snapping my head up to Kairos, I was astounded.

'Did I hear right?'

Kairos paused in his steps, turning to me and staring into my eyes. I mirrored his actions while I thought of a response.

"What'd you say?" I asked, furrowing my brows with confusion evident in my eyes.

Kairos' eyes shifted to the side before resting on mine. His little action elevating my curiosity.

"Queen... Nazia, my mother, would love to meet my mate- temporary mate. So I was tasked to formally introduce you to her." He said.

"Yes, why?" That doesn't seem to answer the two pages worth of questions in my head.

"I don't know."

"Are you joking with me?" I raised a brow, folding my hands and pursing my lips at Kairos.

Was this some kind of 4am prank? And was it necessary? I should be 10 or so steps into the future, 10 steps closer to my bed. But here I was, listening to some random puzzle.

Kairos replied with a dead serious expression. "If I was, it'd be better. But unfortunately, no. I'm not. The Queen requires your presence for reasons unknown and while I'm against that, it's only for a short discussion and your safety is apparently assured."

"You and I both know you're not sure if I'm safe or not." I stated, finding the whole request incredulous. A meeting the Queen? No. Bloody negative.

Kairos smiled amusedly, "That is correct."

"No, I will not meet with the Queen." I refused firmly, turning my back on Kairos as I attempted to walk forward.

Kairos grabbed my hand and with a tug too easily on his side, he had me facing him and almost tripping on my two left feet.

Another hand balanced my body by pushing my lower back up and I suddenly became aware of our close distance and physical contact. Warris this k-drama atmosphere?

Kairos released me in an instant, but gripped my neck in a loose hold-- much to my surprise, and used his thumb to tilt my head up. I could feel the cold surface of the silver rings on his fingers while I stood rigidly in shock.

"What-"

"Listen, tressia. The relationship we have is not that of equals-- so don't act like you have choices. I wasn't asking you to decide. And there is a rule for subordinates, do not turn your back on your superior unless dismissed."

Kairos' hand weaved to the back of my neck and it elicited a shiver in me, while the gold eyed fellow leaned his head closer. Eyes levelled on mine in a way I deemed uncomfortable but attractive.

He continued speaking. "Frankly speaking, I do not care if we go through all the formalities but I cannot accept you forgetting your position-- such acts pisses me off. Is that clear?"

I placed my hand on his solid chest, trying to avoid my breasts pressing on it. Shifting my head to the side, I stared up at Kairos with a calm, calculative gaze.

I felt a little naughty. And daring-- or more accurately so, suicidal.

So I trailed my fingers on his chest in an unknown pattern, keeping silence to his words and my eyes casted down, biting my lips.

I could feel his gaze on me, staring intensely as though to bore a hole in my head, silently waiting for an answer.

"Maybe we can keep it formal." I whispered, but it was loud in the silent hall-- and I bet my sweet duvet Kairos would hear me still even if the room was loud. A mischievous smile tugged at the corner of my lips due to my moment of playfulness.

"But do you want that, sir?" My tone came out slighly more seductive than I thought, with undertones hinting at something more.

If Aniysa was here, she'd probably ask since when did I grow such big unnerving balls. But my very answer would be 'in the heat of the moment'.

Chuckling softly, Kairos' chest rumbled and my fingers trailed dangerously low.

'No way in h*ll was I touching that bulge. Bro the fudge you doing, Jael?'

Kairos just stared, a wide grin on his face as if daring me to touch the area my fingers lingered on. His hand weaving into my hair and locking in my curls tightly.

"Un," I scrunched my brow up but otherwise relaxed my expression, eyes flickering to anywhere but the gold eyes peering at me with such intensity.

"If I treated you as a mate, you won't be able to accept a lot of things, tressia. Be honored with my attitude towards you-- which, by the way, is a lot more lenient than how I usually am. And..."

Slapping my naughty hand away, Kairos continued, removing his grip from my hair and taking a step back, giving us some unnecessary distance.

"Do understand you will take responsibility for starting anything. Don't let me press you on the floors of this hallway and fvck the senses out of you."

I laughed nervously and awkwardly, taking a step back to give some necessary distance and watching as Kairos' eyes tinged slightly red.

"I think I understand, now." I said. "Aye aye captain."

He just quirked a brow, snorted and turned away, walking forward as though nothing happened. Well, nothing happened but, the natural poise he had didn't fade. And I was left feeling awkward.

Ahghshsgjsgdk!

I followed after Kairos and quickened my pace to catch up to him. I noticed he didn't utter a word in regards to my presence and merely walked forward calmly. So I also kept quiet on our way out.

And although a part of me wanted to start a conversation, because I don't think we had an actual one earlier, I was too lazy to initiate it. Besides, the odd silence didn't exactly motivate anybody to speak. And I was okay with being lazy.

The night was long and sleep soon became the only thing that clouded my mind. The chill morning wind brushing on my skin as I exited the building.

'Warm, soft duvet, the aircon on, and a dreamless night. What I need right now'.

In a matter of minutes, Kairos and I reached the Mansion with the quick aid of teleportation portals.

The few servants/maids were probably asleep and the halls were quiet and dimly lit. But, none of that concerned me. It was mindless observation of a tired mind.

Upon getting to the lounge, I realized none of the team members were around. And again, I was unconcerned.

Kairos and I walked in silence up the stairs and into our room hallway. Reaching my door, I turned to Kairos.

"Goodni-"

I paused in my words, watching the tan skinned man standing closely by my side.

"What?" I asked.

'Why was Kairos standing by my side like a bodyguard or something, awaiting my entry into the room?'

"Cuddles." It was an odd word for a man with his frame and intimidating aura. Still, I understood.

"Oh." I turned my head away, blushing slightly as I inserted my card into my room door and opened it.

I entered the room, stepping sideways as I faced Kairos who leisurely walked towards my bed, sat on it and began removing his shoes.

Man, was I feeling awkward.

I just stood in awkwardness, watching as he pulled off his shoes, socks in ease and moved on to unzipping his shirt.

'Um... The fudge was I supposed to do?'

No, really. Was I to stand here stupidly and watch him undress to his birthday suit and just, stand here? Why is everyday in Starfall a darned mystery?

Kairos stopped halfway and looked up at me, a smile playing on his lips.

"Tressia, do you plan to stand there all night?"

"No, but... What am I supposed to do? And, why are you undressing in my room? That's the important question."

I responded, heading straight to the purple chair in the corner, so I could sit and organize my thoughts which were relatively less functional than when I was well rested.

Kairos' earlier words jolted me to action even if my exact goal wasn't to sit on a chair but his la- bed, I mean bed.

He replied. "You don't expect me to sleep in my formal attire, do you? And I can give you an idea of what to do- go take a bath, change, and rest. Better?"

"Good idea." I muttered like a dumb sh*t, changed my direction and walked to my closet. There I brought out my robe and entered the bathroom.

Hot showers are one of mankind's greatest gifts. It was insanely therapeutic for me, and I knew others shared the joy.

By the time I stepped out from the steamy bathroom, refreshed and clean, I was feeling a lot better with a clearer mind.

I moved to the bed, but halted as I came near the light switch. Hesitantly, I stretched my hand forward and switched the bright lights off. But the two pair of gold eyes staring at me in the dark was too unnerving.

So I wiped off my desire for total darkness in the room, and turned on the dim lights in an instant. Before walking towards a shirtless Kairos who had a blanket languidly placed atop his private area.

Toned thick thighs were on display and I felt like Eve approaching the forbidden fruit.

Arms folded over his head, with cleanly shaved armpits I appreciated, Kairos kept his intense gaze locked at me. A silent command to get into the bed, and why was that very arousing? No, must be the stress.

Ignoring the way my brain was forcing my eyes to stare lustfully at his taut hard dark nipples, chiseled chest and perfectly carved abdomen, which was looking exceptionally wonderful under the light, I kept my stare on anywhere else but there as I climbed onto the bed.

Warm hands wrapped around me and I almost purred like a kitten. Well, even if I didn't, one of us did. And my was it a sexy fulfilling sound.

I placed my head atop Kairos' chest and my legs partially on his. The white haired fellow held me in a tight grip, body moving intimately to accommodate us and press me as close as possible in that position.

My hand was on his chest, the other I sneakily brought to his head, toying with the strands of his luscious hair. To my surprise, Kairos tilted his head into my complete grasp and the hand around my back lowered to my waist.

I silently played with his hair, watching him with my chin on his chest as the fine specimen closed his eyes in what seems like a deep sleep.

I released a faint sigh breathing in Kairos' alluring scent, noting how it was soon becoming my top favorite smell apart from the aroma of fried chicken, savoury food and chocolate.

The room was completely calm in contrast to the numerous battles fought by my body and will in an attempt to A; Start something I can't finish. Or B, stay sexually frustrated.

But the bulge I felt on my leg was rock hard, showing I wasn't the only inwardly restless. Still I was glad neither of us did anything, but cuddle till we both fell asleep.
