Chapter 20 - Ch 19. Aristocratic Setting

Rosanna's P. O. V:

As Kairos activated the teleportation portal, I hastened my way towards him.

Ignoring the odd look from Natalie and Naiyah who watched from afar.

Kairos, as usual, placed his hand on my back. But brought his hand further down my waist and I hoped, really hoped it was just to help me. And not seduction. Because it really did seem like one.

There was a kind of sensuality I felt with Kairos. Definitely wasn't lust driven but most assuredly, intimate.

Like a soul I've longed known and like the last jigsaw puzzle to complete my being. It was thrilling and endearing. Nonetheless, unfamiliar.

Kairos and I stepped through the portal and the familiar effects engulfed me. But luckily, Kairos' grip on my waist stayed firm and I strategically leaned on his left chest.

I breathed out, stabilizing my strength as the effects faded and my stability was restored.

"Natalie." Kairos called out. And I stiffened in his hold.

Moving away slowly, I directed my sight to that of the beautiful hazel eyes glaring at me.

Oh, oh, daym.

"Pair up with Berry Cane. And you, Rosanna, pair up with Sharon."

Yay! That's the best pairing I could possibly get.

Nodding my head, I walked over to Sharon who was doing warm ups.

"Hey, Sharon." I called out.

"Ah! Rosa! How are you?" She asked, her pink hair bouncing in a cute way due to the exercise.

"Chill," I responded. "Sorry I wasn't able to meet up with you in the dining hall. I had things piling up and it slipped my mind."

"Oh okay. No problem, Rosa." Sharon grinned and gave me a thumbs up.

Truly a cute girl. Alas, I thought Aniysa was. But she's a brute. Just where did I adopt that girlfriend from?

But I definitely like Aniysa a lot... Something I'd never let that dork know. Hmph.

While I was about to continue our conversation, I heard Kairos' dreadful whistle.

I paled visibly and Sharon grimaced. The horror story of Class 33A Upsilon showed it's ugly head. Kairos' whistle.

I call it the sound of doom. Or more creatively, by Sharon, melody of anguish.

Sharon and I dragged our bodies to drop our vials near Kairos. In the open boxes that had our names on it.

Mine was a nice purple box with 'Graymond' written on it in black. I opened the box and dropped my vials in it.

Then ran to the line by which students were begining to fill in.

"At the end of this session," Kairos said as we were all arranging ourselves in order.

"Go to the Flaming Pagoda and test your strengths. Remember that those who fail to meet the requirements will face penalties. And the Flaming Pagoda is a way for faster development. You may go as temporary groups or, as individuals. Is that clear?"

"Understood." We all said.

A whistle was blown and we all began dashing with our might.

****

I discarded the empty vial and turned to walk to the dormitory. Anticipating a nice rest after the training.

Then I heard a familiar voice calling me from afar.

"Rosanna."

Instinctively, I turned to faced the source of the call.

Oh, he hasn't left? I thought he did earlier... Just like before.

On the last class, Kairos left early leaving us, the students, to pack up and disperse ourselves. But he stayed behind today and I wonder why.

"Yes, sir?" I said, eyeing Kairos suspiciously.

Kairos walked closer to me and handed me a card from his pocket.

I reached forward and collected it. Reading the contents quickly, I was stunned recalling his earlier words. True to it, Kairos got me another room.

'Rosanna Graymond

Diamond Room, 33

King's Dormitory'

"I..." Accept it or not?

True, accepting would be more convenient for me to donate my blood for my safety. But, I didn't like such favors. Even if it was logical.

I settled for silence and collected the card. Preferring not to dwell in pretentious thoughts. Refusing would be a pretense at this point.

What we have, should definitely not be known by anyone. Even Aniysa. Therefore, convenience and secrecy should be a priority...

"Are we a team, Admiral? You do remember my purpose, right?"

I asked Kairos after placing the card in the pocket of my pants.

Kairos chuckled softly, "You don't expect it to be that easy, do you? But I'll take the gamble. For as long as I can kill you in a snap, you can prove to me that it's worth teaming with you. But if you do grow without my trust, I wouldn't hesitate."

"Temporary deal it is." I stretched out my hand for a handshake.

Kairos gripped my hand in his large palm, the familiar sensations giving me delight. We shook and somehow, awkwardly, held still in that position.

Pulling back, we released each other's hand and I coughed awkwardly.

"I'll be on my way, sir."

I said, turning away and walking with large strides.

Ignoring the odd tempo of my heart and the slight desire I shouldn't be developing.

"Wait." Kairos said from behind.

I stopped and turned to him with a hand in my pocket.

"Yes?"

"Go straight to your new dormitory. Your things have been packed and your room is prepared."

I was speechless but nodded stiffly and began finding my way towards the new dormitory.

"Wait!" Kairos called out again. A bit more urgently this time.

I groaned internally. Someone's trying to get away here...

"Yes?"

"My room is adjacent to yours. I'll guide you."

"What?" I was dumbfounded.

Teachers don't stay in student's dormitories, though? And why opposite my room?

In my confusion, Kairos had already moved to a different direction. I bit my lip and lightly jogged after him.

Just, what is this confusing atmosphere?

I walked behind Kairos like a shadow, letting him lead me through the multiple portals before we arrived at a... Mansion.

"This is...?" I asked in hesitation. Did he make a mistake?

Kairos replied, staring up ahead.

"The dormitory."

I pursed my lips and wondered if he's taking me to his private base for torture.

Maybe. It's possible. But oddly, I'm calm and... Anticipating. Wait, what?

"Alright." I stopped asking questions. Unwilling to give my brain a new direction for unhealthy thoughts.

And I focused on admiring the rich decoration of the Mansion.

It had this aristocratic aura. I mean, it was surely created with modern means but medieval and victorian times decorations. But rather than looking old, everything looked new and shiny.

Outside of the Mansion was wide and artistic. With statues and finely decorated figures all around. The very pathways made of fine stones and other materials I couldn't recognize, but all fitting in perfect place.

Just walking outside with the fountains of glittering silver liquid made me feel like I've finally entered the world of the rich.

An abundance of neatly kept flowers and bushes filled my view. Looking back, I realized we bypassed the gate of the Mansion. And the vicinity was surrounded by trees.

Kairos and I walked leisurely to the entrance of the Manor and although the trip was silent, neither sides conversing, it was not suffocating. And merely felt like a walk in the park with a colleague.

And upon reaching the entrance of the house, two guards- wearing the aristocratic guards uniform, opened the doors with a perfunctory bow to Kairos.

"Master Athanasius." One said.

The other continued. "Welcome, Admiral."

Both of them Ignoring me with a vacant expression.

While I was treated like air, it didn't stop me from feeling like classy air. Certain places just puts you in a different vibe. And besides, their boss is guiding me. Hmph hmph.

Entering into the house, as expected, I was greeted with long hallways, lined portraits, red carpets, chandeliers, candlesticks and various other designs.

Ancient crafts on the walls, centuries ago art and most of what one could think of to make such a setting of the home of nobles.

Except, I saw no maids or servants. It was lonely and quiet, somehow accentuating the 'ancient' aura.

It was all fitting. The uncomfortable silence, the grandeur of it all and, Elizabeth's plain yellow gown decorated with diamonds.

Yup. I'm very good at describing this house.

Kairos and I walked down the hallway and reached a door.

Truthfully, the distance between this 'dormitory' and my former one is very large. From walking through the various portals to the large building down to the countless twists and hallways then finally here.

Admittedly, I had forgotten the direction I took. One doesn't simply learn this in a day. The hallways are identical and the pathways all seem unnecessarily made and joint.

That would be a problem leaving and coming back...

Kairos pushed the door open and I gaped slightly seeing the sight within.

Naiyah, Elan and Drake were sitting in the lounge. A nice big and comfy room with various entertaining equipments.

Was this...?

If my guess is correct, this truly is Kairos' base. I didn't expect he'd bring me here. This area should be far away from the University.

How, how did we get here?! From simple teleportations? It's supposed to be hidden, no? But that explains the surrounding trees outside.

I'm utterly confused.

One, two, three... Six curious abnormal eyes lingered on Kairos and I. Oh, wait no, five. Drake's black eye is invincible.

What happened to the dude? I'm happy for him.

Clearing his throat, Kairos said. "Naiyah, take Ms. Graymond to the thirty-third room. Ensure she's settled in nicely during this period."

Furrowing her brows, Naiyah paused for a second before complying reluctantly.

"This... Sure."

She stood up in her unicorn PJ with a drink in her hand, gesturing for me to follow her as she walked towards the staircase.

I glanced hesitantly at Kairos, meeting his gaze before following after Naiyah.

Drake raised a brow as I passed by him and Elan grinned.

Weirdos.

Catching up to Naiyah, we ascended up the long stairway and soon facing us were three teleportation portals. The end destination of the stairway.

First time seeing another one colored portal except for the ominous red that hijacked me to this world.

The colors were blue by the left, red by the middle and green by the right.

Naiyah spoke to me, ending the initial silence.

"...Thirty- third room, red portal."

Not much of a talker, I know. But this... Her words must be diamonds.

"Mm." I muttered, standing still as Naiyah also stood still.

Naiyah turned to me, eery blue eyes blankly staring at me. It's amazing how the face and voice creates a matching visage of that yandere white lotus character.

"Access granted to only you and Master. Step through, Rosanna."

Is this a threat? Somehow I feel it is. Nevertheless at her words, I stepped through the red portal and was transported to a new hallway of significantly smaller size.

With only two doors by the middle left and right. I walked forward and stared at the right door which had a Jade board above with the words,

'Master Bedroom'

Written on it.

And on the left,

'Room 3-3'.

Naturally I identified my room and inserted the card in the designated area of the door.

A little click sounded and the door opened automatically.

Nothing much to say but I was greatly intimidated by the room I deemed suitable for royalties.

I closed the door back and locked it with the card. Before pulling my shoes off and walking towards the huge circular blue bed.

What a day!

I pulled my phone out from my pocket and took pictures of the room before sending it to Aniysa.

Commenting, 'I got a new room... This over you, yes?'

Aniysa might be a noble, but no. This room is meant for royalties. And I'm more than sure she'll squeal at this luxury.

Ani loves luxury. A fact.

The room had ample space, grey walls, and a huge french window with dark blue and white curtains, positioned above the bed.

A gold canopy bed and a gold rug was spread out. Which was placed upon the milky marble tiles.

The grey walls were enchanted with silver runes which shone beautifully. And the chandelier hanging above added a warm glow to the room.

The brown bed side table and dark blue lamp looked more expensive than all my clothes combined. And there was a small bookshelf hanging in the far corner of the room.

The ceiling... Was made of glass and I might have some problem not being spooked out. The entire sky was open to me. But during my survey, I found a switch which I guessed was related to the ceiling.

'Close'    'Open'

Roof

Trying my guess, I pressed 'close' which turned the switch up and the ceiling turned to a sturdy white roof out of thin air.

I gawked like a kid in a candy store. Ignoring the cool portraits and scented incense as the ceiling became my favorite feature.

The room had a walk in closet they definitely had more than my clothes. But they were all my size. Including the shoes... I'm not gonna get used for some ritual after getting all these, am I?

But, who the heck knows my size? When?

The bathroom was magnificent. With the color themes of blue, gold and white. And it made me more affirmed this wasn't a dormitory.

Adding to that, inside the bathroom, I found there was another door which led to a small pool.

Like a mini spa center- with some essential equipments. Skin care products, self massage tools and others were placed properly.

Yup. What a 'dormitory'.

If Kairos wanted to torture me here, I wouldn't mind- no.

What kind of torture are you thinking, Jael? What? Have your years of inner peace gone to void? Have you not become accustomed to the vices of singletons?

Shall thine heart now carry profanities within thee?

No, Jael, nay.

It's easier to become vain surrounded by such luxuries. But I'm not the least bit complaining, what a nice 'free' meal.

I grinned.
