Somewhere behind the thick metal doors was her sister. Ninya's nervousness and anticipation grew with each moment. All she knew was that Tuare was alive, and that was it.
'I am coming. Don't you worry; I will get you out of this hell. You still can be saved, I know it. I… what if she hates me for what I have become? What if she only sees me as a monster? I could…no, I can't hide it. I would have to return to Nazarick with Tuare and she would know then.'
The fear of being rejected by her only living relative mixed with her already turbulent feelings, a whirlwind tearing through her. Ninya sharply inhaled as she switched to the demon form, which was the only one she could use to fight in a cramped environment. Lukrut was right behind her, boosted up with enchanted gear and an experimental alchemical concoction Lord Tabula had deemed safe enough for human consumption, bringing her friend to near her level for a short while. Hopefully nothing would go wrong.
Sebas was already tearing off the doors from the hinges with his bare hands while Solution juggled two knives in anticipation of the slaughter. One of Zero's operatives was taking the second exit to ensure no one escaped. Ninya didn't bother to learn their names yet, mostly hoping that scum like them make a mistake and become roach food for what they had done in the past.
Ninya leaned forward, ready to charge in right after Solution. Sebas would go in last and ensure nothing got past them. Technically, there were no instructions to save other prostitutes, but knowing the elderly butler, he wouldn't let innocents die, and Solution, despite her evil nature, was very dutiful in not breaking the orders of her superiors.
The doors landed on the street with a thud. She broke into a run, sprinting. The shadow demon hiding in her shadow gave her directions. The first target, a burly man, got his throat torn to shreds by her claws before he could even shout in surprise. The demon form was rather versatile, and for all her training, Ninya had yet to fully trigger the most monstrous part of it, at best triggering horns, wings, tail, and claws. With time, she could supposedly become even more powerful, remodeling her entire body into one efficient killing machine of mass slaughter with this particular form.
{ Turn left at the end of the hall and take the stairs down. Run forward, two guards, take the left one. } She listened to the instructions, rushing forward with her claws bared.
The man was far too slow to react to her approach and died before even drawing a sword. The other criminal scum was taken out by Lukrut, receiving a bolt from a crossbow right between his beady eyes. They hadn't even fallen to the ground before the two had left them in the dust.
{ Third door to the right. It's not locked. }
Just one more moment, and she would be reunited with her sister. Ninya pushed the doors open and froze. A fat blob of a man, and calling them a man was being generous, was sitting on top of a woman, lying down on a dirty rug, and slamming his fists down as the woman let out weak whimpers.
What happened next Ninya could not testify even if Lord Ainz himself would demand answers. She moved, overwhelmed with fury and hatred she had never felt before. The anger towards the wretched woman who killed her paled in comparison. Something snapped inside her, and her very body changed together with her enraged mind, unleashing her innate potential.
The next moment she was tearing into the screaming man, her claws laced with liquid fire, her vision far sharper, while her grunts and screams of anger were bestial. She slashed, bit, and screamed.
The disgusting blob was too weak to fight her off. His wails filled her heart with satisfaction. His torn flesh flew in all directions, across the walls and ceiling.
Scream. Someone was screaming behind her.
"Ninya stop!"
She ignored it, striking backward with her tail to protect her rear.
"Ninya!"
She ignored the scream and continued to dissect the disgusting piece of lard, ripping out a huge chunk of intestines and tossing it… somewhere.
"Ninya, that man is dead! Stop."
'Lukrut?' Her senses started to return, but her body still moved on her own.
She felt a tug on her shoulder and swung around to slash at whoever was daring to stop her vengeance.
Lukrut barely dodged it, weapons flailing as he retreated.
"Ninya! Stop!"
"Lukrut?" She looked up at her friend who was staring back, frightened.
"Your sister! She needs help! That man is already dead." Lukrut pointed at the woman on the rug.
Taste of flesh. She had eaten human flesh. It didn't matter. Ninya remembered why she was in the room and everything else faded away. She rushed over to Tuare, who was lying on the floor, her face beaten into an unrecognizable pulp.
"Tuare!" She shouted, her voice still sounding low and bestial.
Her sister responded with a low moan. Tuare's mouth was filled with blood, and her lips were split with countless wounds. Ninya gently picked her up and carried her out of the room. "Hang on, I'll get you help!"
Her sister's breath was very shallow, the young woman's arms just hanging limply. 'I should have learned some healing magic. I still need to learn new forms.' Ninya cursed her lack of foresight. There was no healer in sight.
She ran as fast as she could with her barely alive sister in her arms, nearly colliding with Solution who was stabbing a man repeatedly with delighted giggles.
"Help I need to get a healer," Ninya pleaded.
"You should contact Lord Demiurge to request one." Solution replied matter-of-factly. "Let me take a look. Maybe there is not such a big rush. She is still alive after all."
"She is hurt! I need to heal her!" Ninya growled back at the maid.
Solution just gave her a weird look, "She will survive. Let me check her vitals."
Reluctantly, Ninya lets the maid put a hand on her sister and do some sort of analysis.
"Internal bleeding is not critical, heart rate stable… see, nothing to worry about. She'll live."
Ninya pushed past Solution, angrily fuming at the monstrous maid's complete disregard for her sister's wellbeing. "Just let me pass!"
"Let's get her into a quiet room so I can assess the damage and stabilize her for transportation back to the mansion. I contacted Lord Demiurge, and he will send a healer once we return." Solution called after her.
Ninya stopped and turned to face Solution. And while the maid didn't exactly appear concerned and apologetic, she did seem to care enough about the situation.
"We serve the same master and he has decided to reward you by helping you get your sister back. It would be natural for me to further that goal." Solution explained, noticing Ninya's suspicion.
With the brothel pretty much cleared out, there was plenty of room to choose from. Ninya put down her sister on the sofa that looked clean enough and let Solution do her thing.
Though what Solution was doing looked more like torture, her explanations made sense.
"I am using methods of modern medicine. Applying anesthetics to nullify pain. She won't feel a thing. Several cracked ribs, and a few broken fingers. Tendons in the right arm and left leg are torn. Her upper and lower front teeth have been removed. Three venereal diseases are present, including syphilis. Noticeable withdrawal effects from at least one type of drug. Anal fissure. Signs of recently terminated pregnancy. Bruises, lacerations," Solution commented as she inspected the young woman, revealing problem after problem.
Ninya shook hearing what had been done to her sister, grinding her teeth and clenching her clawed hands into fists, drawing blood. "Can you do something, anything?"
"I will give her another dose of anesthetics and sedatives. That should be enough for now. As I stated before, her condition is not critical, and she can survive the transportation. Make sure to keep her in a way that doesn't prohibit breathing, and the rest will be in Lord Demiurge's hands."
Despite Solution's assurances, Ninya rushed back to the mansion as fast as she could while carrying her sister, not waiting for a carriage to do the job. Jumping from roof to roof she moved at lightning speed throughout the evening city ignoring the curious and frightened looks of people below.
Lord Demiurge and one of the dog-headed nurses were already waiting for her when she barged in through the front door.
Tuare was immediately healed and put into a bed to rest while Ninya had to provide the report to the demon and carry on with the mission. There were more targets to strike, and the brutality she showed towards the man who was last to abuse her sister had assured the demon that she could be entrusted with at least a few assassinations. Despite the small cost that the healing had incurred, she was worth enough to keep around to the demon.
As much as she wanted to stay by Tuare's side, Ninya knew there was no denying Demiurge, especially after the promise to her was fulfilled. She had more despicable men to kill.
