AUTHOR'S POV
Speeding on foot as he follow the puddling trails of his stallion's gallop prints, Stellan killed every goblin that come his way. Goblins aren't great in strenght and easy to kill, but surely, they always come in vast number. They're swift like thunderbolt and does bite as hell. Such nuisance, as what the paladins always thought. Evandrus did his best to sprint along with his bother. Without training anymore, he gasp heavily while his brother haven't even break a sweat.
As the horde of goblins keep coming, they eventually caught up to Stellan and Evandrus on an entrapment by a cypress tree. Stellan hissed as he face the tiny creatures with his hands on his sword. Feeling threatened at the deathly stance of the paladin, the goblins paused as their bloody red eyes stared at the two. They slowly creep towards them with an ominous smile showing their slimy sharp teeth.
Evandrus, who can't literally fight back, stayed behind Stellan. "This is all on you, brother", he whispered as he tap Stellan's shoulder. If ever, this is the first time he'll see his brother in action. And if all fails, Evandrus is prepared to flee and find Helena on his own.
Stellan groaned at his futile brother who literally was an inconvenience in such situation. Well, he isn't the type of relying on others during battles. As a paladin knight, he ensures the safety of his men all the time. Hence, he still appreciate joining forces. And so he wondered, if this kind of man would be with Helena, how would he protect and save her if great dangers come at hand?
Stellan stepped forward holding his sword steadily. Taken aback, the goblins shrieked nodding their heads up and down. Then in no time, they started attacking one by one, then in groups.
The paladin knight didn't disappoint. With certain steps, and precise swings, he strike groups of goblins smoothly killing them with a few single hit. He never gave an opportunity for them to come near. Tight lipped and eyes forward, Evandrus can't believe how great of a fighter his brother have become. His moves and sword handling have become explicably prodigious from the last time he saw him. Clenching his fist, Evandrus watched his brother fight effortlessly without even using his aura. Underestimating his brother wrongfully, he comprehended that no matter what kind of distraction he'd pull off on his brother that involve fighting, it shall be unchallenging for the paladin even if he doesn't use his aura.
As soon as Evandrus grasp back to reality, a couple of goblins were already inching away from him which snuck from the cascading tree branches. Startled, he went his way to Stellan and held his brother's firm arm. "Stellan!!", he shouted as he shield himself behind his brother. Caught by surprise, one goblin landed on Stellan's neck and the other on his arm - both rabidly bit him in a chomp. Dropping his sword, Stellan pulled them away as he violently staggered on the mushy ground. As soon as he got rid of them, Stellan hardened his fists with a blazing aura he's been saving and gave a solid punch on both goblins. Both instantly died in a slimy mess.
"Make yourself useful and heal me!", Stellan said as he pick up his sword and continously lunge at the tiny monsters.
"Oh yea? You forgot the fucking part that the damn raincloud hinders a soul traveler's magic?", Evandrus said as he make threatening gestures towards the goblins circling them. Stellan was distraught to hear what Evandrus just said.
The damn rain.
That explains the fear in Helena's eyes each time a single drop of rain falls from the sky. He finally understood why Helena pretended to faint back in Brandenburg during the training with paladins as soon as the rain poured. Stellan glanced at Evandrus' wounded arm which is still bleeding so badly. Positively, his brother can't be lying. With his unsettling feeling rising as the rain drizzle, he constantly feared for Helena who is running for her life, defenseless and bleeding to death.Tired of the seemingly endless nonsense warfare with the goblins, Stellan mustered his strength and intensified his magic through his sword killing all the goblins with one strong massive blow.
Evandrus ducked with hands over his head. His brother indeed is the greatest paladin knight in this kingdom, such a high position he can never reach even half way. "Why didn't you do that earlier??", Evandrus asked as he gape at the dead remains of the goblins. Stellan dropped on one knee as he catch his breath. He winced at the prickling pain on his neck and arm, both bleeding moderately.
"Help me up", Stellan asked Evandrus as he prop himself up with his sword. No one answered. When he looked back, Evandrus was no longer nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, Helena and Areon reached the higher moors and tall feathery grass on the farthest end of the marhslands. They galloped blindly through the perennial reed, quitely as they can. Right behind their trail, they were continously chased by more goblins haunting them with they grimy shrieks. As they go farther, Helena could hear Stellan's voice calling her name. She was filled with delight that mafe her heart leap. "I'm here!!", she cried as she try to overpower the sound of the unceasing raindrops falling.
Hearing the sound of her voice, the goblins tracked her exact position. Ostensively, the goblins appeared from all directions, leading a no way of return to where Stellan's voice can be heard. Unsettingly, Helena carried on to the clearer way out of the thick grass jungle as she held on the reins tightly. As soon as they reach the way out of the veldt, Areon suddenly squealed and reared on his hind legs. A pair of goblins chomped on his thighs, making the poor horse squeal in pain. Helena fell on the ground and crawled her way out. Areon twitched and stumbled front and back before running away from Helena.
