Chapter 2
Kyra peered out her window for the eleventh time, hoping to catch a glance at Alex and being neighbors made it way easier. Being a lover of romance novels just made her imaginations blow up and she knew it might not end well.
She decided to take a walk to around the neighborhood to receive some fresh air, not being stock at home. She looked at the time and she had just been walking for 6 minutes but she was already sweating badly.
Lord it was hot. Boiling hot, underwear sticking hot. Kyra slapped at the bug buzzing around her with a scowl. Being a petite girl with delicate skin were simply not built to tolerate this type of climate with all this confounding, relentless scorching sun. She kept looking around in search of a cafe or any possible place she could get shade from.
Kyra swore that she could sell her soul for just an opportunity to leave this country. It wasn't easy for her and any single person who passed her just gave her the pity look which was so tiring on her path. But luckily she sighed a nice looking cafe and she hastened her steps.
Ignoring the heat, the aimed for the door at a breakneck sprint. Seconds later, she was inside the beautiful cafe and basking in the immediate cool.
In a single glance, she scrutinized the whole place looking for an empty seat to occupy. She didn't plan on staying for long but she really needed a cold drink.
She went up to the counter to order a strawberry shake, when she suddenly remembered she had no money on her.
"Hey, are you new around here. I don't think I've seen you before". He said calmly
" Yes, i just moved here yesterday. Uhm the thing is i actually left my wallet at home and uhm..."
" Ok, don't worry about."
" Thank you, I'll just head out." She said with relief.
" Wait, aren't you taking your drink anymore."
" I still don't have any money."
" Oh, I meant you can still have it, let's just take it as a welcome gift to you from Arizona and you look like you really need it too. " He chortled.
" Thank you, i pay you back."
" Since you insist, how am i going to get it back. I barely know you." He said still smiling.
But she didn't notice his smile because she was trying to figure out a way she could pay him back.
" Or how about i walk you home and take it from there." He said before she could say anything.
" But aren't you still working."
"Don't worry about it, if you're through with your shakes just tell me."
Kyra knew it all sounded strange and why would she let a stranger know where she lives but she couldn't bring herself to say anything because she was still a debtor and he did her a favor. She actually took her time scrolling through her phone and sipping her shake because she knew it was back to the sun once she left the cool comfortable cafe.
It was already getting late when she decided to head home before her brother would start calling her, that's if he even cares.
He noticed she was about to head out because he hard been staring at her the whole time. They both walked out of the cafe in silence. The only thing on Kyra's mind was to just head home quickly a take a shower.
The silence was getting really uncomfortable so she just said her house was a few blocks away.
"I never got to introduce myself. I'm Chase, Chase Paxton." He said with the brightest smile ever.
" Oh, I'm Kyra Lee."
" Ok, so do you like it here."
" Ehm it's not so bad." She lied trying not to say something bad or worst to his country, especially since he was a complete stranger.
But he definitely knew she didn't like it here so he just kept smiling.
" Since we're acquainted with each other now, how about i show you how nice it can be here."
" Okay and this is where i live."
" That was quick, so I'll take my leave now."
" Wait, what about the money. I can go and get it."
" I already told you, don't worry about it." He left giving her a wink and smiling like he won a lottery or something like that.
"And welcome to Arizona." Chase shouted from where he was and finally left.
It was surprisingly welcoming. When she just smiled and turned around, only to sight someone staring at her from the next house. It was Alex and he gave her chills. She hurriedly went inside with no hesitation and it was already late.
" Where have you been." Jake said from the couch giving her a shock.
"Like you actually care."
"Not really, so just spill it or I'll tell mom, you came home at this hour."
" I just went out for a walk then i stopped at a cafe."
" And then a guy, who's a complete stranger walked you home too." He completed her statement for her.
" Yes." She said with no care.
"If you need me I'll be in my room." She said already feeling tired.
" Hey, Kyra." He called.
"What."
"Uhm, don't worry." He said abruptly facing his phone.
Jake has always been a big brother who looked out for his little sister but he never let it show. And that was one side of him Kyra never knew about up till now.
She got up to her room feeling exhausted and just threw herself on the bed but then she suddenly remembered how good looking Chase was. She wondered how he could be so friendly and cute at the same time. He's pale blue eyes was just the best, but his looks weren't compared to Alex's.
"Uhh why does his smile keep on popping in my head and his alluring eyes."
" I really need to get it together and talk normally in front of him. I really sounded like a weirdo." She reminded herself.
She washed up feeling refreshed and decided to make something up for her to eat. She went down to the kitchen only to find Jake cooking.
" Waw, you still know how to cook."
" I never forgot how to and by the way mom is going to be really late today, so don't wait up."
" She never comes home early anyway and I'm not a kid anymore so why would i wait for her to come home." Kyra said still feeling down
" Yeah, sure." He said sarcastically.
"Just take your dinner, I'm going upstairs. Good night."
" Yeah,Good night." She said with a little chortle.
